Two In a Row – I bought a Ryobi scroll saw from Bunnings for $159. August 2020. Got it home and set up a frame to secure it to and unpacked. First thing to note: the users manual has no words at all, only small rather dark diagrams. No kidding, no words, not even basic instructions for operation. Nothing but IKEA-like drawings, of much poorer quality. Second… Read more

note: set up a test cut and all went fine for 3-4 minutes, then a ‘pop’ from inside the machine, a small metal part dropped out of the bottom and the saw stopped working. Power on, motor running, but the saw arm was not moving. Packed it up and returned the unit to Bunnings. Replacement unit arrived after a week, picked up, unpacked and set up, power on. First test cut in 8mm ply no problem, next test cut in 12mm pine. Three minutes in, ‘pop’ same part fell out of the machine and it stopped working. Back to Bunnings for a refund. They didn’t seem surprised. Never again, Ryobi.

through thicker wood (15mm +) they bog down and can break but for thinner stock (eg. 6mm MDF) it's perfect. The light is very useful but the blower hose regularly comes off allowing dust to build up on the cutting line.

All in all, it's great for small intricate work.

blades – all real good once you track down the blades there should be more stock at eg bunnings the light is a good idea for close up work not bad on balsa wood and good with blower love to try out your new timber thickener as I do a lot of timber boat modals for a club and it would make things so much easer keep up the good work for the home handyman all the functions it has extra arm could be a bit longer
