good saw for around the yard – i have a 2006 pcn4040, got it from the tip not long ago. took it home, gave it a quick clean and replaced the primer bulb, filled it with fuel and it started 4th pull. considering it came from the tip, (and most likely hadn't been started in years) i was pretty surprised how fast it started. i used it to cut some branches about 3-4 inches in… Read more
diameter, it ran like new. not sure why so many people are complaining about these little saws, mine is 15 years old and runs great!
Just keeps going!! Beast – Had this saw since they came out and it's never missed a beat! Used it to cut up 4 wandoo sleepers to make a coffee table and that thing is hard as steel, (went through 3 chains) :) Just replaced coil and re-ran throttle cable, they do stick and make tuning a pain. Runs, idles and full throttle like a new one! Send me you dead ones! :) Show details
Crap chainsaws – I bought a ryobi ch/saw from Bunnings Midland WA, it won't start when warm, won't idle either the air filter cover dropped off somewhere(can't find it) ,it's also missing from display one in Bunnings. I should have got an $80 one from Masters Bought a Mculloch c/saw from my local garden centre, the self tensioner broke and the guy who sold it to me said spares not available, no apology or offer of replacement
Brilliant Chainsaw! – Have had this chainsaw since it came out more than 10 years ago have caned the little thing all the time!! Plenty of grunt- surprise! Absolutely perfect! Will even cut large trees , logs, Best with a better chain- eg: Stihl, but are not expensive It has finally come to the end- brake needs to be held in the off position, drive sprokett is… Read more · 2

absolutely useless chainsaw – purchased this saw as within a week it was dead, began spitting out heaps of oil, chain kept comiNg off even after several adjustments. had chained sharpened Proffessionaly and it was useless again after just two cuts. started really quick first couple of uses then found it difficult to get running. the main bar is also useless. don't touch it with a ten foot pole. sorry Ryobi u lost my vote in this one
piece of rubbish and poor customer service – We bought this chainsaw (ryobi rcsr246b) less than a year ago. First didn't work, Bunnings replaced. Second one equally unreliable, had to replace chain first up and discovered it would only run on PREMIUM unleaded. Ryobi referred us back to Bunnings, Bunnings said get lost n bad luck, stuck with a piece of very user unfriendly rubbish. Just look… Read more
at how difficult it is to get to the spark plug. Not a patch on our el cheapo Ross chainsaw that lasted 2 solid years at $99. We do NOT recommend this brand.
Excellent chainsaw for around the home and price – Had this lil beast for over 4 years now and still going strong whenever I pull it out of the shed. I think some people just should not own one if they are having that much trouble with such a easy and reliable little chainsaw. To all the haters of this saw!! #Call the professionals.
Broke first time we used it.... Twice – I purchased this chainsaw from Bunnings as I wanted to chop down a few trees in the backyard. After taking forever to start the chainsaw, I finally got to cutting the tree down only to have the unit sieze up. I took it back to Bunnings and got it swapped for a new one. The next time I went to use it the chain snapped straight away and to date -… Read more
I am still trying to find a 16mm chain that actually fits it.
This chainsaw was cheap but you get what you pay for. Spend a little more and get better quality.
Excellent – I have used this chainsaw around my home to cut down several large trees and it has made very short work of a rather daunting task. It's easy to start and light enough to weild for several hours without fatigue. I've used it extensively for the last 3 months and it only now needs to be sharpened. Removing the safe-t tip at the end of the bar makes… Read more
it able to cut down larger trunks in two passes without difficulty This is a very easy to use chainsaw with comfortable handles and quiet idle speed. Self lubricating chain bar extends its life and helps prevent jamming. The sprocket cover and main housing have a few too many spaces where saw dust will collect and can be a nuisance when it comes to cleaning.
Goes well - for a month or so – Seemed pretty good at first - plenty of cutting power and not too heavy. But after a month or so it became harder to start - ran poorly and now has no life. It could be something "minor" but try taking it to a chainsaw repairer. They don't want to touch it - "can't get parts, previous experience that Ryobi keeps returning again and again after it… Read more
starts playing up." Aaagh - I wish I had giving Bunnings the miss and bought a proper chainsaw from a chainsaw shop. Great for the first six trees Died after six trees - repairers won't look at it.
hopeless – It's very very hard too get it running. It worked for a few days then die. Bunning Underwood told me to take to identify for the faulty and it takes many days during Easter. Ruin my plan to cut 8 coco palm during this week with other 2 person. Very bad and unfair. Think about it before buy Ryobi and Bunning Underwood. It's not reliable tool. No standard, hopeless.
Reliable – Excellent tool, especially for the price. Very reliable, and once the motor is run in, which takes 2 or 3 uses, it starts first pull every time, even after sitting for months. I used it for cutting dead trees down on our property and for cutting firewood. During winter it's used every week. My saw is just over 1 year old, and would buy another. Price, reliability Show reply
Excellent – I really love using it when i cut down down trees around my house to make in mulch. You should really buy this chainsaw because it is very solid, reliable and will never break down on you. It has a very long chain bar and chain so u can cut down bigger trees than using other chainsaw, it is a ryobi, so it will never die on you, i reaaly like the… Read more

Know better, choose better.
GREAT LITTLE SAW – I bought it from bunnings for $149 on spec, went wood cutting and it went just as well as a mate prof series husky really great value, started 2nd pull out of the box, now starts first pull every time. can not fault this saw in anyway esp the price when you can hardly buy an electric one for the same price.
Excellent – awsome bita kit just bought another as so happy with this husky wants to improve its performance wish they made a bigger medium saw or a real rooter would be good to see for ripping posts light and easy to use way better than my huski 40cc low vibration easy start an balanced i have had many sawsa n this is the best small saw i have used for pruning an felling trees none aparent
