Problem Phone – Loved it at first then. Size etc. Short battery life after 6 months Battery over heating Wi Fi the stopped working Sent back to provider - still awaiting refund I purchased a phone from Kogan July 2017. On January 2018 the fully charged phone would only last 8-12 hours with data turn off and Wi Fi turned off and would be lucky to send one to… Read more

two texts a day. I first contacted Kogan and advised support of the problem 17/2/18 . They recommended screens shot etc and take different approaches to solve the problem.

Over the next couple of months, I had further correspondence with Kogan trying to rectify the problem. During this period the phone began to worse and worse only lasting 5 hours and started getting very hot. Then the phone lost its wifi. After many emails I request this be looked at under warranty and finally Kogan decided the phone should be looked at by the technician.

On 24/4/18 they finally conceded that the phone had a problem and organised for a prepaid postage to return the phone.

On 1/5/18 Kogan advised they had received the phone and advised; Please allow up to 14 business days for our experienced support team to process your return.

On 21/5/18 I emailed kogan for an update (20 days later) as I had not received a response.

On 22/05/18 received the below email

Thank you for getting in touch.

I can confirm an assessment has been undertaken on your return and some parts are required to complete the repair.

These parts have been ordered, please allow up to 10 business days for these parts to arrive.

Once they have arrived, the repair should be completed shortly.

On 22/05/18 I requested a refund.

On 25/5/18 received the email from kogan

Thanks for your patience throughout the return and assessment process.

We're contacting you as your return has been assessed by our technicians and confirmed faulty.

Regrettably, in this case, it wasn't possible to repair the unit.

At this time we don't have stock available for a replacement.

Please accept our apologies for this unfortunate situation.

We can certainly provide you with the following product as a replacement:

I was not happy with the replacement phones even though one was a better model and asked for some time to decide.

On the 27/5/18 I asked for the change over cost on some additional phones etc.

Kogan replied with a e-voucher to the value of my phone.

I was unsure and asked if I could think about it.

I had numerous emails to the support team.

Then I decided I would like a full refund and not a e-voucher from Kogan. I found every time I asked for a refund they would not reply to my emails, but if I asked about an upgrade to another phone they would reply, but would never give me the change over cost as requested.

As they never gave me a changeover cost I requested a refund. My last 3 emails I have sent requesting a refund and requested a reply. As of the 16/06/18 I have not received a reply. So I have purchased a phone elsewhere, I have purchased other phones in the past from Kogan and always had the replacement dragged out.

I was happy they would provide a e-voucher, but as this has been very dragged out also partly by myself, I have found they never respond when requesting a refund. Very patiently awaiting A REFUND

An okay side phone – I got this phone a while back and I would say it a decent spare phone to use. Here are some pros and cons. Pros: - light and portable - no problems with the system - cheap Cons: - it heats up when I have an app on after a while - battery life is not that great - small screen Overall, I would give it a 2.6 out of 5. I would have it as a spare phone instead of using it for long term.  Show details

I love his phone! – Fraction of the price of the higher models but most of the features. Great camera, external sd storage options. Amazing Free android apps. Split screen feature. So easy to use and navigate and you dont have to buy into the 'i' world of doing things. Battery life kills iphone and stays strong while many friends $1000 phones batter life drops to 50%!  Show details

Great value for money – I've bought this phone one and a half years ago. I must admit that I only use the phone to access the internet, take/ receive calls and take photos. This phone is more than enough for those functions. It has a great camera both front and back. The display quality is good. The battery life is also good.  Show details

Too fragile and finger print scanner is poor – Coming from a 2 year old j2 budget phone this is quite a lot nicer to use. However I used to drop my old phone on a weekly basis, even on concrete with no more than a small scratch if anything. I dropped this one and it smashed so now it needs a new back which doesn't come off without repair. It makes the phone a liability. Further research shows… Read more

complaints of cracking even with a case and protector. Also check out drop tests on you tube and it shows this phone to be much weaker than others

Other than this it has a nice screen great build quality and compares very closely to the iPhone 6s. It has plenty of power to multi task with lots of tabs open on chrome etc.

Thenger print scanner however usually doesn't seem to work despite calibrating the same finger multiple times. So if this is important to you, was well as robustness you may want to look elsewhere.

Love it. Pity about the new cable – Bought my second Samsung A3 and love it. The speed is great for all the functions I need and the size isn't excessive. Its a good sub$500 phone that handles everything. Being a Samsung I thought I would be able to use the existing power cables but no, Samsung have a new power cable, and I haven't been able to purchase a spare cable.  Show details

Easy to use – Great phone with everything i need. Easy to work my way around it. I have dropped it a few times and no cracks or glitches as a result. Plenty of storage and great value for money. I like that it comes with some common apps so i dont have to download them.  Show details

Love my A3 – I brought my samsung galaxy A3 about 2 years ago, mostly for the camera. Haven't really had many issues with it. The one issue i had was for a full ten minutes the phone kept turning on and off again then it reset itself. But good other than that. I brought it from dick smith before it closed down.  Show details

Good phone poor battery life – Purchased the Samsung Galaxy A3 in November 2015 it was a spur of the moment decision as old phone died. While phone does all need it to do the battery life can range from average to deplorable. It's not uncommon to lose 50% of battery in a morning just sitting in my pocket. I now find I need to plug it into the charger everytime I get in the… Read more

car. This then introduces another problem where the phone gets so hot on the car charger you can hardly touch it some days. Not sure if this is par for the course with A3 but I will be looking to chase Samsung for some answers on these issues

Works smooth and nicely – I bought this smartphone for my daughter aged 18 - she does not have a subscription. She is satisfied. The price is acceptable and the speed very good for all the normal apps. The surface is very slippery (on both sides), so you want to buy a protection for it in case it falls on the floor.  Show details

Good for the price – Bought it as a 'backup' for my SONY Xperia Z3 Compact that breaks down frequently. Camera may not be of the best, RAM a bit low, but it works decently for most tasks except 'heavy' games. With a Nano SIM perfect as 'spare' when other phones in the family with Nano SIM (which most new and more expensive phones have) brakes down. Quick charging and… Read more

decent battery life. March 2018 update. The phone is still in daily use, not any problems so far. However battery life is getting shorter, needs a 'quick charge' during day. As storage might soon be a problem, it may be replaced soon, but will be kept as a back-up. Still too good to just throw away.
