should be called pocket dialer 2000 – Have had bad phones in the past but this is the worst, a blight on samsungs reputation, wasn't cheap either, but in my opinion should've been, makes calls and sends messages by its self , i will never buy another samsung product thanks to the anguish this phone has caused. Wish i had, had time to look at reviews but trusted the name . Hate the… Read more
product now don't trust the brand. Did however come with free memory card so you can save info to load into your new duel sim phone that you buy after no longer being able to persevere with this one ,that is if you can work out how to use it or have time and means to do tutorial because of cause it doesn't come with an instruction booklet other than how to put the battery in and turn it on. If you have one and have to continue with it avoid carrying it in your pocket.
NOT FOR INTERNET ROAMING – This phone is OK for the very young but it really lacks if you want to roam the internet. Put simply, the screen would be sufficient if you could rotate it to view in a panorama mode - but it doesn't for all functions. It does rotate on some basic functions - but not on viewing websites. You only get 3/4 of a page. Thus if there is passwords or… Read more
captchas etc that you need to input to get to the next level etc ... this is extremely difficult and frustrating. The keypad as previously mentioned by other purchasers is also very, very small and tinkerbell would have difficulty accurately inputting info.
The menu is a disaster. Not sure if anyone would put there name to that ... but I am guessing it was developed 6-8 years ago and well it is a very cheap smartphone after all.
The reception is good and it is reasonably medium fast for a cheap smartphone ... but again beware you will not see the whole webpages width even from a designated app.
Would I buy the phone again ... No, go for a cheap Huwei with a bit bigger screen that at least rotates.
worst phone ever – i bought this garbage outright from JB hi-Fi, as i needed a dual sim phone, went with Samsung because my old S2 was a ripper phone until it stopped unexpectedly 2yr life though, so i expected something that was at least fit for purpose. not so with this garbage, i will split the sims get an xperia for one sim and an old nokia for the other at… Read more
least i know both of those will work and last. this has killed my liking for the samsung brand Dual sim poor memory very slow to work when it works
Not a good phone – Got this phone free with my contract and it only has like 180 mb of internal memory which they expect you to install apps with, it is only android 2.3.6 which doesnt give you many options for apps to install, not that there is enough memory for apps anyway, phone is laggy on internet and just all round really out-dated Dual sim (good for when a friends phone goes flat Lack of memory, out-dated software that cannot be updated, laggy
Hate it! – I agree, this phone is sooooo frustrating and could not recommend it to anyone. The drop outs and screen freezing drive me crazy. Very not user friendly and the battery life sucks. I have not reviewed any products before but this phone is so annoying I feel that everyone should know. Absolute waste of money. inexpensive in comparison to other androids Poor useability, screen freezing, constant drop outs, battery life.
Rubbish interface, cheap screen, too small for adults – This is a cutdown cheap version of the SII, and it's cheap and nasty. Bought this for my gf and she's got tiny little hands. Still she finds the screen awkward to use and often completely unresponsive. Can't pick up or hang up, text keys are too small for fast sms. She is endlessly frustrated with the usability. The screen itself is plainly a… Read more
cheaper, low pixel version and it's quite fuzzy compared to the higher end Samsung models.
I thought all these complaints were just her not being used to a smartphone, so I gave it a spin. She was right, it's rubbish, awkward, fails to respond to the touch, screen hard to read and simply a pain to use.
As a smartphone, it makes the user look very dumb and clumsy. Major fail. It was cheap Its unusable
Needs better battery life – This is a great little phone with all the gadets I need. It's easy to navigate and use and for the price, has been a good phone. Every other aspect of the phone has also been good and I would recommend but the battery needs charging every 3 days or so! Very annoying! Easy to use and inexpensive. I hate this phone with a passion. The screen is unresponsive, its almost impossible to hang up a… Read more (+5 replies)
Good little Phone – High resolution screen and easy to use even when you are new to touch-screen phones. Simple navigation and a no fuss user interface. Display is bright, responsive and fast hence no delays. All features of a smart phone are provided including GPS, Bluetooth, WiFi and even vibrator alarm. Camera quality is great but there is no flash light.. Great… Read more
display, easy user interface and snappy response. Nice camera and big (1600x1200) pictures On screen keyboard size is problematic for mature hands and camera got no flash light.
A Great Phone For The Price – Firstly these cost $129 thru Telstra, so realistically, like everything, you get what you pay for. Being my first android smartphone, I was a little nervous and reluctant to purchase one, but the way technology is going the choices for basic phones that work on Telstra is becoming very narrow. Well I"ve got to say, I dont regret buying this… Read more
phone. Call quality and reception is excellent, no hanged calls, coverage in areas where I would get drop outs previously, works perfect on bluetooth, both internal speakers work nice and clear.
I find the phone is very easy to use, what a great introduction to android smart phones, it does everything that my previous phone did ( Nokia X6) plus more , the internet works fine, easy to check facebook, emails etc once you set it up. ( See below )
Like everything though, there are a couple of trade offs. Firstly if you have big digits like me, your going to have trouble entering info, sending texts and generally using a few of the features, due the size of the screen, so if thats the case, give it a wide berth. If you have small digits, this phone will be fine.
I've heard in a few other reviews ( not here though ) about battery life. If you have a few apps running at one time and leave them on, its going to drain the battery, but from what I"ve heard this is pretty normal for smart phones, use the apps manager and switch them off, it will be fine and there are battery saving apps available for free and they do make a difference.
For what I use the phone for ( lots of phone calls, sending text occasionally, checking emails, getting weather updates and occasional use on face book) it works so much better than my previous phone.
Finally, my wife now has this phone, due to my big digits and she loves it. I now have the Galaxy Ace and in all honesty, I"m so impressed, my future phones will be Samsung. Durable, excellent signal coverage, great in call performance, ease of use ( if you have normal digits), sits nicely in the hand. Small touch screen keyboard, battery life if your not careful.
Great for young people – My Samsung Galaxy S2 went for a swim, and so I needed a quick phone until the Galaxy S3 arrives. Already having an Android account, this phone was easy to set up. All I had to type was my Gmail address and voilà, there were all my phone numbers and contact details. The screen isn't huge, so people with big fingers might have some problems,… Read more
and the resolution of the screen (if you've come from a top of the range smart phone) is very much yesteryear. This phone does more than send SMSs and make calls so of course it's going to chew up some power, but I can still get a day out of it and I'm a heavy power user.
However this device is aimed at young people, and I can assure you that Facebook, Twitter and all the social apps work well and the music player/FM radio are ok too.
The phone also has wifi and GPS. The Camera is only 2MP, and there is no front facing camera.
For a youth phone - It's awesome.
For a backup phone - It's very handy.
For an adult everyday smart phone - No. Go and spend the extra money on something a bit bigger with a lot more grunt.
(Android 2.3.6. Flashed, debranded and unlocked from Telstra) 5 May 2012 Inexpensive little mini Android. Basic phone = basic screen resolution.
Good for young – Kept hitting the volume button and turning it off. Camera is only 2 mb and facing one way. It has a lot of good apps and features but find it frustrating when you download a program and won't work as you need to load an app from samsung to make it work. Would probably not buy this again. The features on it It is easy to hit the buttons and not realise you are turning off or on features on the phone.
Good phone but expensive to run – Generally I liked the features of this phone. The screen was big enough and easy to operate. The software package for PC has to be downloaded from the net - I didn't bother. I noticed that the phone kept advising me when new emails came in. That was OK until I used the phone for a quick voice call one time (15 secs). I decided to check my pre paid… Read more
balance and discovered I had used $15 worth of my pre paid balance in a week. Previously this would have taken me 8 weeks to use that much. I made sure that I had no programs running and shut them down but it made no difference. I am a very low user and mostly leave the phone on standby. I was annoyed that I had to recharge the battery everyday - no wonder the bonus was a free car charger - you will need it! I bought two of these phones and eventually sold them for less than half of what we paid. The trouble with mobiles phones is you can't find out about this sort of issue until you buy it or look at the reviews on this product review web site. Hope this helps prospective buyers regarding the purchase of this phone. features, easy to set up, touch screen Low battery life on standby, high balance useage
