Gear Sport - Manufacturer Fault – Purchased from JB HIFI 10/03/18 I wore it daily to count my steps, never wore it in the water or vigorous exercise, and the cover on the sensor came way, held in place by a sticky rubber seal. Samsung dispute this being a manufacturing defect, will repair at $150 cost to me. This is a known issue and yet your service center refuse to resolve the… Read more
issue by fixing it. I believed Samsung to be quality products, having owned phones, TV's, and other housewares, I have a different view now.
Not for runners – Clunky, buggy and overall sub par sports/ smart watch that does not stand up to the competition. I have had this watch for roughly 18 months now and I am disappointed. On long runs it often pauses recording, without being prompted. For example, I was on a 12km run, it worked fine for 7km, then after another 3kms I checked my progress and it had… Read more
paused at 7.8kms, rendering the point of the watch useless. Other times it completely stops recording and you have to start a new run session midway through, which is unacceptable. The GPS is terrible, constantly underestimating distance travelled. Spotify app is unusable. The only positive as a sports watch is the step counter, which is seemingly reliable. The fitness prompts and goals achieved notifications are also handy. As a smart watch, it is ok, I guess. The bezel and touch screen are really handy and are by far the best features. It receives calls and messages quite well. Although if you you receive a call or message whilst running, say goodbye to your recorded progress. If you're looking for a sports smart watch, get a Garmin or Suunto, Samsung has missed the mark here.
Warranty not honoured – I was very happy with this watch until it died on me, ( won't charge and continually flashes rebooting). I have contacted the retailer who I now know will just say it's water damage, even though it is a waterproof watch, and I have never immersed it in water( all reviews are bad and say the same thing, ). I have also contacted Samsung who also… Read more
wouldn't help as I bought from an international seller, so the 24 month guarantee means nothing. The watch is in perfect condition, apart from not functioning, but I have to throw it in the bin, with 12 months warranty remaining. Very upset .

Samsung Gear Sport – Very disappointed with this smartwatch. Not very accurate with any function, counting of steps very poor, battery life poor, too many individual exercise functions and timing of exercises very in accurate. Not worth the money. Show details

Value for money and health related – This is smart watch and using for all purposes instance count heartbeats, count steps, all sports systems and many more. It is valueable gift for everyone. It is worth product. It is reliable product.
Watch fail. Terrible battery life, glitches with software during exercise watch turns off. Cracks in screen – Have owned watch for 5 months. I'm lucky to get a days life out of battery before needing to be recharged. Needed to turn off all Wi-Fi, blue tooth and GPS connectivity to extend life. Now it gets 2 days. Whats the point without connectivity. Advertising claiming 4.5 days. Watch will turn off and would need restarting during mild boxfit training.… Read more
It would require resetting to original settings. Screen has cracked in 2 places. Not dropped. Finally Samsung won't warrant repair. Customer service hopeless. Worst watch I've had. I wish I stayed with fitbit.

Fun sports watch. Not serious sports watch – I bought this watch without much expectation. I began with understanding from many that this watch isn't for serious sports person and I ain't one. I primarily wants a watch that I will never need to adjust the time due to time error or daylight savings. Track my steps. Can find my phone and vice versa. Water proof. Kids proof. Sort of. … Read more
Reject calls when I am busy. Etc.
And ultimately look good, unlike one of those goofy sports band.
And this watch ticks all my boxes fundamentally.
Now. For the functions.
It can track steps well as far as I am concern. Unless you are pushing a pram. That throws you off totally. It doesn't register much steps. I could walk the same about as my husband for a while day and while he register 10k steps, I only registered 3k. It isn't the device fault. Guess technology haven't advance enough to track a pram pushers steps whilst on their wrist.
It is water proof as said. Pretty shock proof I supposed. I bump the watch into a bunch of things and haven't got a scratch or render the watch faulted in any knowable way.
Not very kids proof, your kids can't destroy it, but can definitely unknowingly set many different alarms that confuses u throughout your day if you let their claws on your watch.
It doesn't have a lot if apps that works with this watch. The Samsung wearable app is kinda a shame. It doesn't have many useful apps. Massive amount if watch face though if you are into that.
I like that I can read message and reply short message traditional phone style, supports very little app sadly. So that I won't need to go back to my phone always while I am busy around the house. Love that I can reject phone calls.
However, do note that if you do intend to answer phone call, you will need a connected Bluetooth earpiece intended for phone, to be able to answer phone. Otherwise it will just ask you to go check your phone. Then you will be left with having answered the phone, but u r not near your phone. You will be rushing to your phone to talk.
One function I am very thankful for is the independent watch alarm.
While alarm u set on your phone can be shut off by watch.
Any alarm you set on your watch are not be shown on phone.
Which means in my very small house. I can wear the watch rather comfortably (change to leather strap so its not rubbery and frictiony ) to sleep, and have the alarm on vibrate mode early in the morning. So I won't wake my whole family up with my normal alarm.
Having said that, the price for all these function seems to be quite steep. However, if you aren't a serious sports person who need that accuracy. I don't think there are many watch as all rounding functional as this and looks as good. So the price seems near to justified to me.
Fails at it's key selling points – Bought the watch about a year ago and have been using it off and on. The reason I picked one up was for Spotify on the go and to be brutally honest that feature does not work, have a read of the Spotify Watch app and you'll understand why. Band broke pretty early on too, easy enough to replace still a pain. Motherboard gave out earlier this year… Read more
but under warranty so point to Samsung for that. Battery is beginning to drop can't say I'm thrilled about that either. Device doesn't like not being connected to a phone, which can be a pain when both you phone and your watch start bugging you to reconnect the two for no real reason (plus having them linked burns through battery)
All in all, not worth the price tag and I'm hoping there are better alternatives.

Worst impractical "sport watch" till date – The ONE thing a runner or swimmer needs is for the workout screen to stay ON so you can track your time/distance. Unfortunately with all the bells and whistles this watch provides (spotify offline, bluetooth headset pairing) that is the ONE thing this watch does NOT do. Its not possible to keep the watch on workout screens during exercise, it… Read more
constantly defaults back to the main "Screen saver" watch face. Half the time the "wrist twist" action doesn't wake it up to enable workout screen, when it does its for 0.5 seconds before defaulting back to the screen saver main screen. No amount of bezel movement or button push will enable you to get the watch to actually show you the workout stats. A huge disappointment and I'm at a loss for words how Samsung could release a product like this without anyone doing any practical testing with it... Threw it in the river today out of pure frustration, dusted off my trusty Garmin. Don't waste your money on this watch if you're intending to use it for exercise.

Makes life harder rather than easier – I've owned this watch now for just over a year. I bought this watch primarily to track swimming and running. Previously I would run with my phone in hand to track runs and listen to music which I have now reverted to doing and my Samsung Gear Sport sits in my drawer unused. It takes around 2-3 minutes of standing out in the open to connect to… Read more
GPS and even though it says it's connected, once you start the run it tracks your location sporadically and inconsistently. It also turns GPS off when you pause the run and you then have wait for it to reconnect again when you resume.
One of the big selling points was that you could listen to Spotify offline. While you can do this, you first have to open the Spotify app and start playing music before you start an exercise. Then when you are tracking an exercise with Samsung Health it defaults to the native Music app and controls on the watch and connected bluetooth headphones will control the native app and not Spotify. Even if you have a playlist on Spotify that you like and have no need to change songs, the audio cues given by Samsung Health when tracking an exercise stop music being played through Spotify and you then have to stop what you're doing to go back into the Spotify app again and press play.
These issues combined with a terrible battery life (tracking a 30 minute run and playing music via bluetooth consumes around 30-40% of your battery leaving hardly enough to get through the rest of the working day) and having to restart the watch about three times a week because it freezes and is buggy really ruin what could have been a great watch. I'm pretty disappointed in my purchase and this is one of the few times I've regretted purchasing a Samsung product.

Good, but can be glitchy – I purchased this watch primarily for running. One of the annoying little issues I've had with the watch, that are fairly typical of my experience is when I track a run. Even if I wait for the GPS to detect my location, quite often the native run tracking app won't track from the start of my run (even though it's give me the 3,2,1 you've started countdown), resulting in a run that quite often starts ~1km after I've actually started. Wouldn't touch it, biggest waste of money, fitness tracker is ridiculous, nice watch but thats it – Swimming function blows out by at least 40%, so if you want to use it to track laps, doesn't work. Open ocean, blows out by km's, swim 1500m and now you have swum 13km. Walking GPS across lakes, and freeways. Poorly designed, Samsung refuse to refund, so don't risk it. Show details
Very satisfied and brings all exercise stats at one place – This is my first smartwatch and now I wear it every day. I load music into it and then use blue tooth headphones to listen while running and I don't need to carry the phone. I compared it's heart rate monitor and found it more accurate as compared other smartwatches. Overall, very satisfied. Show details

Know better, choose better.
Nice watch. Software needs work – I bought this as its the best i could find for geekiness and swim fitness. It was waterproof to 50m and still had a heart rate monitor. Pros I LOVe the bezel rotating to scroll through menus. So much better that tapping. Waterproof excellent. Wear it anywhere and dont stress about getting it wet. Swim in the poo” and ocean with no problems … Read more
The watch itself is very solid. Measure my sleep and hr well
Integrates well with samsung health and endomondo.
Cons
The voice command doesnt work very well. (You sacrifice microphone sensitivity for waterproofness i guess. Or maybe its just the samsung software)
The speedo app it came with for swimming doesnt track well. Used 3rd party app no problems
I am very sad that the tizen software doesnt have as many apps as google or apple.
The capability of samsung pay is very sad as many banks dont work with samsung pay yet. And rewards card barcodes dont scan well on it.
Basically if this watch had google software on it i would be a happy man.

I love this watch – You get a lot of bang for buck out of this watch and it seems to be becoming more accurate as I wear it. I love being able to track my steps calories and heart rate especially during workouts. The bezel is easy to use the only issues I have is connecting to iPhone at times and downloading watchfaces via iPhone. Show details
A great smart watch to buy – I purchased this watch about 4 month ago. I still feel feel excited when looking at it. Although I smashed it badly sometimes, but the screen is clear and no scratch is on the surface, or around. Very durable. Highly recommend it, specially with it's mate "samsung gear iconx". Great match. Sometimes the apps stops working (2 or 3 times in the last 4 month) which fixed with a restart. Not a drama. Very happy with my purchase. Show details
Great and practical smart watch – Bought this watch a couple of months ago and loving it. Paypass awesome although better when OS supports more banks. Being waterproof was also a big sell. Not having to take it off for showers, swimming or water parks is more convenient than you think after coming from a fit bit. Battery only 2 days but not much more out there with longer for that sort of functionality. Overall happy with purchase. Show details
Disappointing – This watch looks great and I much prefer the style over the Apple Watch. It's also pretty comfortable. That's about as far as my praise goes. The features this watch is supposed to be able to deliver are great but they don't work well. I have had numerous glitches in regards to sleep not recording, notifications not coming through on watch from… Read more
the phone, steps not being counted, watch automatically logging dynamic workouts whilst I'm driving, watch disconnecting from phone for no reason, etc. The battery also leaves a lot to be desired. I'm lucky to get 2 days out of the watch and I don't use it heavily. I find I have to always put it on charge when I'm having a shower or not wearing it to make sure it never runs too low. I took the watch back to the store and they sent it away for repair, only to be told it needed a software update. However three weeks later I'm still having issues and looks like it's going back again! Very disappointing Samsung!
Makes a lot of promises that it cannot keep – The Samsung gear sport; this watch looked nice, really blended well into everyday clothing choices, but the exercise function is really were it falls flat. I found the price tag a little steep for what it actual does, this is just a big box full of big promises that failes with a lot of the sport features it claims to have. This watch is… Read more
full of Gimmicks that will leave you bored after a few days.
I originally brought the watch to enable me to effectively track my swimming but when I tired to use the watch there was a huge contast In what I was doing, it would often track triple and even quadruple what I was actual doing. I tried multiple apps including Samsung’s own swimming tracking app and the one that was recommend by Speedo who are a well respected brand however this changed my view on speedo.
There was also a problem with tracking other sports, if you wanted to do any other Exercise other than running, cycling, swimming and simple yoga you were left out in the cold unable to track your exercises correctly.
My gut feel is to wait until this technology gets out of its infancy
Best purchase of the year – I previously purchased the Samsung Gear S2 which I absolutely loved but unfortunately I list it at an airport earlier last year. So I thought I'd wait for the gear s4 only to find out Samsung wasn't going to come out with one. Instead came the gear sport. I pre ordered it after doing some research and I am so so happy with it! It's great for the… Read more
obvious reasons - notifications on your watch so you don't have to constantly look on your phone, you can pick up or reject calls, fitness tracker etc - BUT the thing I love most about it (which the gear S2 didn't have) is the standalone Spotify music player which is built into the watch. You don't even need your phone near you to play from Spotify (you do need to have a Spotify account though). Other than that, it's 50m water resistant and salt water proof meaning you can wear it in the beach/shower if you wanted to. I think the design is great and it's fantastic value for money.
Wrist Burn – I bought the watch in December 2017. Within a day I had a severe burn where from the strap. I stopped wearing the watch and it took over 3 weeks for the burn to go. I have not worn the watch in water. I tried it on the other wrist and had the same issue. I have brought up the matter with Samsung and they simply state that the wrist band… Read more
is made of " “the band is primarily comprised of silicon, does not contain any hazardous materials and complies with applicable regulatory requirements and standards.” then quote their T&Cs.
If you Google Samsung Gear Sport Burn you will see that this happens regularly.
I suggest you look elsewhere.
Great smart watch - Not many apps – This is a great smart watch, i researched extensively before deciding on one and am very happy. The design is perfect. Simple and modern allowing you to customise the watch face to be as out there as you want. Come's with several different faces in built, and plenty available to download. Lack of apps can be an issue, but not a deal breaker for… Read more
me. Battery size is GREAT. 3 full days without charging is possible. Option to switch to waterproof mode for swimming is also a big plus.
A treat for myself – Just bought a new Samsung phone, so thought I would grab myself a Samsung Gear Sport smart watch. The reason for choosing this one is it is (I would say) Splashproof more than Waterproof at only 50m. I wouldn't try swimming with this, too much money to throw away should it get immersed. I particularly like the heart rate monitor - I think… Read more
that is pretty accurate. Not so convinced with the Sleep monitor - good nights rest - I don't think so. It is what it is an app after all.
I chose the Black watch, I thought the Blue was a little too brightly coloured.
Pretty good though.
