Nearly caught fire – Failed at 2.5 years old and very nearly caught fire on the process. Before that it was underpowered … will replace with a sharp or something more reliable Show details

Not fit for purpose – Purchased the Samsung Microwave oven, the light inside the oven when turned on does not provide enough light to see the food item cooking. The purpose of the light being on is so that one can see/monitor what is cooking so as to avoid overspills and food burning. Samsung has admitted that it is a design fault but given it is not a manufacturing fault no refund/return is available. Show details

SAMSUNG CRAP – The Micro Wave MS40J5133BG 1000W was manufactured Oct-2020, purchased Dec-20 Cairns, the unit lasted 1 year exactly before it died. Plugged in the 15y/old panasonic Microwave and it worked fine!! Says a lot! As of today I have made the decision never to buy anything SAMSUNG again. My wife was so angry about it not working as it upset her cooking… Read more

schedule for work. This unit now runs non stop when you close the door, the light stays on but it does not heat or countdown on the digital unit. Will be contacting SAMSUNG for a fix, but if too expensive will bin it.

Great for the price – I have this microwave at home, the only con I have to it is that you can't really see inside it while it is cooking. The pros are a lot of the automatic settings that it has, such as the potato setting and the power defrost, I use them quite often. Show details

Great microwave for the price with minor sacrifices – Before writing this review I read many until I purchased Samsung MS40J5133BG. To help others to differentiate frustrations (and possibly wrong impressions about the model) I’m first going to list what this microwave is and what it isn’t. What it is: Budget microwave considering it is 40l and 1000w Reputable brand that is not made in its country… Read more

of origin Full of imperfections compare to more advanced models Very basic in what it does and how good it is at it Far from being user friendly in comparison to more expensive ones What it isn’t: It is not bad microwave considering price point and specs It is not bad option considering that Panasonic will give you only one year warranty on any of its microwaves and Samsung will give you two It isn’t modern version of microwave by any stretch of imagination It isn’t as bad as some reviews describe it Here are negative aspects of it: Buttons indeed hard to press - feels like 80’s design Internal light is not LED, you won’t be able to see anything inside while heating up/cooking/defrosting etc At 1000w it is not bad, but feels a bit underpowered It is your basic offering - there is no sophistication or fancy features There is no “one push to start” function. Annoyingly you’ll need to set up time and then press start Here are positives: Pretty good price point for specs Ceramic internal space - easy to clean Big-ish internal space - 40 litres. Good to heat up containers/plates that are large ish size Two years warranty. Brands like Panasonic will give you only one Although basic, subjectively more reliable than expensive competitor siblings (please watch video attached) Simple to use

Overall, I would recommend this microwave for anyone who is after a simple, basic microwave budget and looking for a reliable, cheap-ish alternative from a reputable brand.

Lacking in features and poorly designed – Pros: - It does cook and reheat as a microwave should do. Cons: - You have to push the buttons really hard. So hard that the microwave slips backward on a surface like a bench so you end up having the brace the microwave with the other hand! - The display panel is so basic it only shows digits (no alphabetical characters). For defrost… Read more

programmes, etc you have to refer to a numbered list on a sticker inside the door. Seems incredibly primitive for a $200+ microwave in 2021. - The black glass on the door and control panel shows every fingerprint mark and requires constant cleaning or it looks dirty. - The carousel doesn’t return to it’s starting position. So if you put in a cup of coffee, you’ll probably find it’s at the back of the machine when it finishes. If you put your microwave up high (like on top of a fridge) this is really annoying. Perhaps this isn't a common feature these days but even my first microwave in the 1990's had this feature. - The light is not strong enough (or the glass is too dark) and you can’t actually see into the microwave when it’s operating. - It doesn’t seem to be able to reliably defrost meat. - You can’t specifically disable the nag/reminder sound although you can turn off all sounds. However, turning off all sounds makes it very difficult to know when button presses have actually worked because it’s so damn hard to push those buttons! - There’s no ‘1 press’ start function. OK, you can start it with two pushes but that’s slightly annoying given the button issue …

I am quietly hoping that this microwave doesn’t have a long life ahead of it as I really don’t want this frustrating appliance in my life for the next 20 years!

It got the good looks – Grabbed it 6 months ago from Good guys- Geelong ,Vic Pros -Does the job well, with the many food preset cooking and levels. -Has a self cleaning mode and a special cup is provided for that, easy to clean because of the great finish inside -Cooks well as expected i.e. time preset cook setting is accurate. -It is aesthetically appealing to the eye… Read more ·  1

, especially the all black and tinted glass

Cons -The screen dark screen looks great but you cannot see the food cooking-suggest a more powerful bulb or slightly lower the heavy glass tint. -For some reason I had a heavy vibration and noticed that the front glass is glued on however not properly so glass actually vibrates when cooking-Unsure if the warranty covers that?

-Just a slight difference in the preset 30 seconds button, one must press the START button after the 30 second button. My previous microwave would start immediately you press the 30 seconds button and continue cooking as you add multiple of 30s if you need. With this model, you can add more 30s after pressing the START..

Overall great microwave, I would get a bigger version of this next time.

Very nice slick black 40L microwave – We bought the .Samsung 40L Microwave Oven 1000W MS40J5133BG. It is nice black, ceramic inside with many useful functions. It works well, cooks evenly and quickly. It is very easy to use with 12 popular functions. Bad Points are the blackened glass on door and a bit noisy (as the most microwaves). It is nice design and value for the money. And chosen by my wife!  Show details
