I purchased the tv unit at the end of 2020 for $1250. It’s been 5 years and half of the screen is completely black. I reached out to Samsung and was told that the life expectancy of the unit, the age, the price and repairs are taken into account. The tv is not working as advertised or expected. I explained that I’ve never had a repair done on… Read more

the tv and that 5 year life expectancy for a tv of that price is unacceptable.

It was explained to me that the tv I purchased was at the lower end of their “quality” range and that a shorter life should be expected.

Doing a little research, these tv’s should have an expected life of 7-10 years. Yet mine lasted 5 and to Samsung that is acceptable?

Doing the math, it’s costing $250 per year just for the tv.

I purchased two other Samsung tv’s in the last year and now I’m worried that these aren’t part of the “quality” range and if they die, it’s too bad, too sad.

One would think that during a cost of living crisis and the market getting flooded with cheap electronics that a reputable brand like Samsung would not only stand up for, but also fight to retain customers who obviously believe in their products.

When did Samsung become a low end tv manufacturer like Akai? Will they start selling their products on Temu now?

Just to reiterate, I cannot believe that Samsung find it acceptable to produce and promote products that do not function as advertised.

Samsung customer service told me to take it up with Consumer Affairs and they’ll send me an email. I was also offered a 15% discount to “upgrade” a non-functioning product.

Be mindful of your next purchase when it comes to TV’s. Doing a little research and it appears as if TCL and Hisense offer 36 month warranty’s on their TV’s. It appears as if they have more faith in their technology and obviously hold their customers in high regard.

Poor showing from Samsung today but hopefully this will help other people make informed choices when purchasing TV’s.

Terrible, faulty TV. Frequently faults – Bought new, immediate problems. It kept turning itself on. You would turn it off and 30 seconds or so later it turns itself on. Also kept muting volume and said it was awaiting instruction. So I got it replaced under warranty. Within a few weeks the new one started doing similar. You turn it off with the remote and occasionally it turns itself… Read more

back on, this happens about two times a week. Sometimes turns on within 30 seconds sometimes a few minutes.

I spoke to the store where I bought it, whom said they spoke to the rep, but got no satisfaction. So I won’t buy Samsung again.

Amazing quality and great value for money! – Best smart TV I've used so far. Much easier to use than it's competitors. The operating system is fast and all the apps I need are available. My main concern with the tv is that after I turn it off, sometimes it switches on by itself and I'm not sure what the cause is. Also, the HDMI ports are awkwardly placed so if you decide to wall mount the… Read more ·  1

TV, it might be a bit hard to access the ports. The wireless connectivity is not seamless and sometimes lags, however this might be caused by my internet connection. Overall, the colour and screen quality is amazing!

Faulty unit under warranty, appaling custiomer service! – I purchased a brand new 75"Samsung Q60R from Jb Hi Fi Geelong November 2019 (5 months ago). Noticed after set up and viewing certain lighting conditions, that the LCD screen has 3 small, what appear to be extremely small chips that omit colour against a black screen. Had further issues with Network Port dropping out which saw me log an official… Read more

fault directly with Samsung who sent technician out. Tecnician advised that a recent software upgrade could have caused the software issue and factory reset and downloaded new software, all working fine. Screen however was photographed and sent to Samsung. Samsung Case Manage calls today and states that screen damamge is not a Manufacturing Fault, and are not willing to fix or assist in any way! This screen was NOT damaged by us and now Samsung have chosen to effectively tell us they are not interested in taking any responsibility at all, that we have in some way caused the issue ourselves?!? I am disghusted and appalled att the lack of sopport, lack of care and lack of responsibilioty for a $3000 TV that wasnt right from the start. Very unhappy and will be taking action further on this matter. Case Manager Ruwada took great delight in telling me they will not be assisting me further, are you kidding me? Disgraceful Samsung

Waste of money – Numerous complaints to Samsung about it dropping connection to my Foxtel IQ 4 box - been to their level 2 people - works for a few days then have to reboot Foxtel. Had a LG TV used the same box no issues. Service comes out no problems- sent videos and photos no reply - using cables recommended by Foxtel. The TV is only 5 month old and is useless - why should one have to reboot is it TV or remote - show some concern Samsung please Show details

Great tv – Ok, all we use it for is watching Netflix and youtube (no gaming, etc), and I think it's great. The remote control is so convenient to use, much better than your conventional remotes. The menu is very easy to navigate. Show details ·  1

Great TV – I love this great big 82 inches of goodness. I bought my TV from JB Hi Fi in November 2019 for $4100 and got a $300 gift voucher from them to spend in store. I have an XBOXONEX and from what I understand Samsung and Microsoft have this kind of agreement were their products are partnered together and here is my only issue with the Q60 so far. game mode won't let you use dynamic range (DR) when gaming. If you want to use the DR when gaming for what I think are the sharpest cleanest colours then you have to turn game mode off which kind of kills one of the reasons I bought this thing. Not sure if the higher model Q range TVs support DR in game mode but this one doesn't. Apart from that the TV looks great and really gives a great cinematic feel. If it last 12 year like my last TV a Sony Bravia XBR then it will be money well spent.

Q60 Great value – I can't comment enough how good this tv I have is. Loads of apps supplied and a great picture. After a nightmare with another brand going through 2 tv's, I'm happy that I have something that so far works flawlessly. Q60 has automatic setup features detecting my xbox one x. It didn't detect Fetch TV however I manually loaded that in and what a… Read more ·  1

Beaut thing now is, is the little and yes little remote, works with Fetch. Install was a breeze, the legs were easy to install and Samsung software a breeze to setup the TV. Tried s few movies on Disney, Netflix and Prime. Games with the Xbox and the tv picture is great. Especially gaming this tv is made for gaming. I run Ethernet through The tv and it detected quickly. The tv was a replacement for another brand I bought and was down to the exact same price. The Q60 was $2,795 and now $1,695. Great price and worth every cent. Samsung really know how to make a TV. Get one! Quality 5 out of 5 Sound 4 out of 5 Picture 5 out of 5 Gaming 5 out of 5 Apps 5 out of 5 Easy install 5 out of 5

Practically faultless and at $1895 is great value – Bought this as soon as Good Guys announced the price reduction. My earlier 55" Samsung was good but this is bigger and better even if it is Samsung's lowest level QLED offered. Picture quality is great but SD shortcomings show up on the larger format. Can't think blacks really need to be any blacker. On a single colour still picture background… Read more ·  1

(mainly pink ones) there is an almost indiscernible patchiness but I'm being really picky. Compact, minimalist remote control has a learning curve but once familiar has the benefit of not hitting unwanted buttons when everyday viewing. YouTube videos cannot be forwarded with this remote - fortunately I have a Samsung Blue-Ray player with all the smarts which solves that problem. I understand that the size may deem a swivel stand unworkable but the supplied legs, while quite stable, are tall and make the set sit higher than necessary. Samsung wants you to fill this space with a soundbar but if you connect to an A/V receiver there is an unsightly gap made worse by the reflection if on a black glass top. Samsung should offer shorter legs. I merely undid the connections from my old TV and plugged them into the new one. Everything worked first time but with much less lag. The EPG, Samsung version long endured rather than appreciated, is vastly improved with lack of information and delays updating practically eliminated. The options for selection of smarts are really good and the ambient feature works well, not that I think I will ever use it. For many mere mortals the cost of a 4K 65" TV has been prohibitive. I think this one is now well worth the money.

Great picture quality – I bought this from Harvey Norman in August 2019. Picture quality is out of this world, not sure why anyone would buy 8K when QLED delivers high quality pictures. Price was reasonable in my opinion. Harvey Norman had an offer for delivery plus wall mounting which certainly saved us a chunk of money. Very happy with the purchase Show details

Great TV that is almost perfect – Positives: Great picture quality, stylistically-minimalist remote control. Easy to set up and navigate through. Negatives: smart-things is a little clunky and inbuilt chromecast would have been better to integrate smart devices with. Apple airplay not supported as well as it could be (Optus sport is a no go). Show details

Great TV! – This is a brilliant television. We have always had Samsung TV's and they continue to impress. The built in apps are great - netflix, google play, plex etc. The ambient mode is a really nice touch - it's great to have the tv in the background blending into the environment rather than just a big black screen (we purchased the 75"). quality is excellent and my husband's gaming or watching 4K movies seems to be managed well.

The only downside of this unit is the Google assistant feature doesn't work for turning the television on if it has been turned off for a while. It works fine for turning the t.v. off.

Samsung q60 is great – Bought new a month ago for a Playstation and Netflix TV for a rumpus room. I was so impressed I have moved it to my loungeroom and replaced my 70 inch LG that was twice the cost. The colour and picture are perfect, deep and intuitive. The bezel Is almost non existent and being a Samsung it works with my other Samsung tech... Phone, buds etc. I recommend this to everyone I know and at the great price it's a steal. Show details

Amazing TV – This TV has definitely gone above my expectations. Amazingly fast fluid motion, excellent colours and decent sound for a TV Has being used as a PC monitor, and runs natively at 120hz at 1440p. This is the first set I've had where the picture doesn't look like a tv set, but rather a large monitor. Show details

Ended up returning it – I bought this with high expectations after seeing the rich, uniform blacks and vivid colours of the store display model. I was hoping the QLED would be a more versatile alternative to the OLED offered by other manufactures. After setting the TV up at home it was immediately apparent that there was clouding around the edges and in the corners -… Read more

they were notably lighter than the centre of the TV when displaying dark images. I suspect it comes down to the edge lighting in the Q60 models. In my opinion the TV looked no better than one half the price; in fact cheaper ones appeared to have better image consistency. In short I ended up exchanging it for an OLED TV which I'm very satisfied with.
