Samsung TV quality has deteriorated – I also purchased the 55 inch Samsung QLED in September 2018 for under $1,800. My TV also was in the same location for over the past years and un moved. despondent and wouldn’t even offer a service call without me wearing the cost. I mentioned ACCC laws in that a TV should foreseeably last more than 4 years. Customer service gave the impression they cared but ...no sorry ...computer says no! I was going to contact an Authorised Repairer but reading all your feedback it sounds not worth it. I will NOT buy a Samsung TV again as it will not last.

Samsung waste of money – had numerous problems with the TV over its life and was initially addressed in a timely manner by Samsung. Samsung's customer service is horrible and customer loyalty is not factored in. It pays to buy cheaper more often than spend the money on so called "quality" products. Show details

Do not buy Samsung TVs – We purchased our 55 inch Samsung QLED in late January 2018 for just under $1,900. The TV has been in the same location for over the past 4 years so has not been subjected to any issues that may have arisen due to it being moved around. edge to the other. All the problem solving suggested by Samsung was attempted without any success.

Samsung Customer Service was contacted and they are basically useless and wouldn’t even offer a service call without us having to wear the cost. I actually had to contact Samsung Support several times due to them not calling back.

I have since contacted an Authorised Repairer and have been informed it is likely the LED panel would have to be replaced and it wouldn’t be worth it.

Do NOT buy a Samsung TV as it will not last and you will not be offered the appropriate assistance from Samsung.

Brilliant Colour with ONE CONNECT! – This QLED 55 inch 4K Samsung TV is absolutely awesome in our books! Very easy to set up, even for a couple of 'oldies' - the colour is brilliant along with the simple single smart remote - its a cinch! We love the ONE CONNECT too - meaning you get rid of all the back wires, (no more wires hanging off the back of the TV everything just feeds… Read more

into one nice tidy connect line) - so neat and tidy! AND the sound is all built in - no need to have a separate sound bar or speakers - the QLED is all you need for awesome sound! AND the QLED even SPEAKS TO YOU - Yep, you heard correct - this SMART TV is pre set so all you have to do is select your choices, tell the TV what you want and the QLED will change it for you!! AND, if you become totally confused, as I will admit my husband did once or twice in the early stages - all you do is contact Samsung Support and a lovely Technician from the Remote Support Division will service your TV for you immediately - 24/7 - Free of Charge - by taking control of your QLED and sorting out your problem for you - VOILA!! We love the Eco Sensor too which adjusts the brightness of the TV automatically, this feature measures the light in your room and optimises the brightness of the TV automatically to reduce power consumption - however you can turn this function off if you choose! We sourced out this amazing QLED TV through JB HiFi and Harvey Norman Stores but then I actually ended up trading in quite a number of my Qantas Frequent Flyer Points plus Cash on 19/10/2018 - to purchase this fabulous TV as a surprise gift for hubby - but I do know the Store Price last December at JB HiFi was still $3,200.00 and well worth every dollar with full Samsung home warranty of course. Highly recommend this awesome Samsung Smart TV along with their incredible backup service. Submitting Manual, as I have archived the Qantas Frequent Flyer Receipt.

Nice TV though slow TV guide – Bought the Samsung QLED Q7F April 2018. It's the best TV I've owned, nice big, bright colours and Ultra HD (4K) resolution. The only thing that bugs me is the TV guide, whenever I look at the guide it takes ages to load. I have had TV technicians assigned from Samsung to visit my home and they updated it to the latest firmware but it's still slow. They said, it's something I will have to live with :-(

Major Dissapointment - Black line on TV – We bought our Samsung QA55Q7FAM Smart TV in May 2018 paying just under $1800- for it from JB Hifi. the TV. Researching this problem online we discovered we were definitely not alone. In various online forums dozens of people have reported the exact same issue. There is no resolution. You can do all the tests that Samsung recommend (none of them work for this issue) and all they will suggest in getting a technician out @ a cost of $300- who will say that the panel needs to be replaced at a cost of $1000.

Sorry, but No, not doing that. We are really disappointed that we paid $1800- for a TV that, given this consistent and widespread issue, clearly has a manufacturing fault and has only lasted just shy of 4 years. We have a much older Sony Bravia in another room that has worked perfectly since 2011.

This Samsung TV should have been recalled.

We will have to buy a new TV, but it will not be a Samsung.

TV is unwatchable. I have had 2 online chat support sessions with Samsung, given a reference number for Level 2 support but now told that Level 2 support can't be accessed and will need to wait 48 hours. Be Very Aware - this TV is not what it seems and Samsung do not support it – I purchased my 65inch OLED top of the range tv in late November last year (2019). Following installation on nthe wall it has proven to be a pest. It started turning itself ff while watching and then on again - cycling so that it was impossible to watch. I contacted Samsung service (it is an international 1300 number) and in the first few calls… Read more

they reset the tv through internet access. Eventually, last week, they did a "diagnostic" online and said it needed a new cable between the control box and the tv. Samsung, however, stated quite specifically that these tvs should not be wall mounted. Now they tell me. There is nothing in their sales and promotional literature that sets this out, so it is a condition of sale that they will not tell you about. Then the tv went berserk, turning itself on, then off, then on and so on. As soon as it was on it turened off. As soon as it was off it turned itself back on. Crazy. Of course all this has been reported to Samsung through their 1300 number. They assured me a new cable was sent, that their case management team in Sydney would ring me ... and on and on. Today I found, after insisting on being put through to the Sydney case management team (there are no numbers and Samsung always prevent you from speaking to anyone but a call centre person). The Sydney call centre asked me if I needed help installing the tv. After "spitting a few chips" I went through the sad and sorry history of this tv and they said they would sen out a new cable through a company that does not exist in my home town (Port Macquarie). I might get this in the next few days or a week. When I get it I have to install it because Samsung have told me you cannot mount these tvs on a wall, even though it has the lugs for doing just that. Instead, they say, it must sit on its stand on a flat service and all the cables (power, onebox, HDMIs - I have 4 - must be untidily displayed in the open. I suggested that because the tv had suffered a catastrophic failure, was unable to be used, I wanted a full refund. I drew their attention to their own web page (https://www.samsung.com/au/australian-consumer-law/) and asked them to honour their legal obligations. They told me to beggar off. I would get a new connector cable when they send it and it was my problem how to get the tv off the wall and the new cable installed.

I can see from perusing the net these tvs have given Samsung a lot of trouble. Customers all over the world seem to be unhappy with them particularly because of the faults I have experienced.

I am at a loss as to what to do but my intention is to take the tv to the local reseller today or tomorrow and request a full refund. I have no doubt this will all result in a protracted fight with (Bing Lee) and Samsung.

But the tv is useless. You cannot watch it.

My loss according to Samsung. Tough luck.

No more Samsung for me.

Samsung absolutely awful customer service response to a problem within 8 months of purchase – First smart TV we have bought. Purchased April 2019. Used for 3 months, went overseas for 3 months, then after bing back for a month (ie 4 months tv use), noticed dark blotch on screen. Reported it to Harvey Norman in Auckland; they washed their hands of it and passed on a service job to Samsung. Samsung tech visited, tested, took photos, said… Read more

they would recommend an exchange. Outcome so far - Samsung now saying they will only 'repair' the failed back light by replacing a panel in the screen. Samsung keep changing their story, Harvey Norman dictated to by Samsung and bot willing to help other than phoning Samsung. Sometimes problems arise; it is how retailers and manufacturers deal with them that tells you so much about those organisations. This is our first experience of Samsung and will be our last. Simply awful. Do the right thing Samsung, just replace the TV! $4,500 on a TV that has failed after 4 months use. Don't argue, change your story, and make things up. Just do the right thing. They claim they have the right to try a repair before exchanging the unit. Hey Samsung, we have the right to return fault goods. Harvey Norman - you too have the opportunity to do the right thing here. As an aside, this is the second of four appliances that we bought at the same time that have failed. Each time, we are fobbed off to the manufacturer. A simply awful experience. Suggest staying away from Samsung and Harvey Norman. Well done to both. If you had done the tight thing you would be getting glowing reviews.

Great picture but has limitations – I purchased this TV around 6 months ago and i can say the picture is amazing same as the sound! (https://sport.optus.com.au/), I am getting a message to try another browser but Samsung doesn't have an option install another browser or update the current one or install extra apps. I am opening that site on my laptop and then mirroring on the TV, I've payed too much $$$ to do all of this work!

2. The apps are OK, (youtube, netflix, stan etc) but no option to install new ones, or at least when the TV software is updated they should add popular apps used in Australia.

3. The TV does not support many video formats like AVI and many more, when I plug in my hard drive can only play 20% of my movies - I read about this that all Samsung 2018 tvs have this limitation, hope it will be available on future updates as LG, Sony and other competitors support all formats.

In my opinion if you are basic user this TV is perfect but if you want to use all features you will find that there are better alternatives!

Zero for Samsung – I bought a Samsung Qled TV (QA55Q7FAMWXXY 55"(140cm) QLED UHD Smart TV) from The Good Guys in May 2018. We have been reasonably happy with it but for the price it still has a couple of issues - we constantly have to reinstall a couple of the apps and the TV guide doesn't update nearly as quickly as our old 8 year old Samsung TV. began when we purchased a Samsung sound bar (HW-K950/XY) in August 2018 to match our Samsung TV so we could enjoy the best experience possible. WRONG. The retail price of these 2 pieces of equipment is around $4500. We have been keen Samsung purchasers for years - phones, tablets, TVs, home theatre system and sound bar. What have we got for such loyalty? Totally stuffed around by Samsung in regard to our latest purchase, the HW-K950/XY sound bar. It hasn't worked properly from day 1 and after too many phone calls to Samsung service to count, troubleshooting over and over and over again, 3 times in the service centre, over 7 months later I am told that all they can offer me is ANOTHER repair. I was originally told to take it back to Harvey Norman for a replacement. This turned out to be wrong and when I lugged in the massive soundbar, subwoofer, speakers and remote I was told so by the team member at Harvey Norman. He tried to get to the bottom of it and the Australian Samsung rep said it is very common for the wrong thing to be told to the customer by the untrained overseas call centre staff. It was taken in from there for its first repair...I have been promised call backs that never happened, been regularly given misinformation by the service centre team members as to how to proceed - I know this because the next time I call the team member who answers tells me so - been told to take videos of the issues (I have several of the soundbar with no sound, error messages "check wireless speakers" and glitches in the sound) which nobody now wants to know about and generally given the absolute worst customer service I have ever received - from SAMSUNG. Harvey Norman has been as helpful has Samsung has let them. Never again will I purchase a Samsung piece of equipment. Of the 7 months I have had it, it has been in my house for around 5 months, in the service centre for around 2 months and working properly for 1 month...and still no replacement is offered. Appalling SAMSUNG, absolutely appalling.

Quality 4K TV for a designer home – Having had many Samsung TVs in the past, when got a chance to try out one through the Samsung Insider program I jumped at the opportunity. We’ve had the TV for about a month now and so impressed how well it blends into our designer home. All the cabling (including power) going through the tiny cable is awesome, and removes all the ugliness that… Read more

comes from all the cabling typically found at the back of the TV. Into our specific box we have: Power, 2x HDMI PC/Xbox One X, Ethernet Internet, USB for storage, and Optical for sound to our amplifier. Really looking forward to mounting it on the wall where this invisible cable should disappear into the panelling on our wall (see picture).

The initial setup was so smooth, unpacking from the box and configuration was very quick and easy, barely even needing to refer to the very detailed documentation included. The configuration using the Android app was super smooth, and works out most things by itself.

Comparing this screen to our 2-year-old Samsung 55” 4K Series 8 curved screen was difficult, as essentially this is just a bigger slightly updated version of the same thing, with the usual improvements, the screen quality was about the same – however the software could do with some improvements. Specifically, the “lag” in the full tv guide is still very noticeable, the Freeview app isn’t as user friendly as it was, and the switch from black to bright backgrounds is a step backwards, especially for the music only channels where instead of soothing Jazz in a dark room, it’s a blaring white box, not very romantic and doesn’t set a nice Christmas mood! (would have been better to show the ambient mode, the dark screen it used to have, or even just a black screen) While on the subject of the Ambient mode, this is cool and like it, but would like more customization options, but I guess that’s what Samsung’s “The Frame” TV is all about.

One last thing I should add that I love is that the controller also works with the Microsoft Xbox One X and can control the home screen on it and the One Guide App (with TV adapter). It was so slick that I didn’t even realize that it was doing it till I clicked the guide button and the Xbox TV guide opened!

Why buy a 4k OLED when you have this? – Setup and Connectivity All I had to do was attach the clear optical cable from the back of the television and into the One Connect box. There was a little trouble setting up but after a quick live chat with Samsung support it turned out I just had to reseat the connection between the TV and One Connect Box. The support was quick, courteous and… Read more

some of the best I've used. Setting up the TV came with a few issues. First, my LG G6 phone did not work with the SmartThings app, giving me a permissions error even after I had granted the app all the permissions it requested. Because of this I was forced to manually enter WiFi credentials and unfortunately the TV would not accept my 55 character long wifi password. Recently I purchased a new iPhone XS and while the SmartThings app did successfully connect to the TV the UI in the app was pretty broken.

Design and Aesthetics

There's no doubt that the physical design and aesthetics of the TV were well thought out. The panel itself is incredibly thin and offers an attractively minimalist design. While our TV was not mounted on the wall, one could easily mount the TV without needing to drill holes in the wall for cables to run through. Functionally the remote is very simplistic with omission of many conventional remote control buttons such as numbers to select channels. As a young(ish) person who will primarily use the TV for Netflix or other on demand services (not free-to-air), the lack of numbers makes little difference to my overall experience.

Image and Sound Quality

In terms of colour, contrast and overall quality, the image that this TV produces is exceptional. The 12 dimmable areas on the Q7 allow for extremely deep blacks and brightness that will negate even the strongest glare. We had the TV next to a large window with sun shining in and didn't even have to close any blinds! The colours produced really pop without appearing over saturated and 'fake' with reds appearing very vibrant. Coming from a 1080p LCD screen, the 4k was definitely noticable and looked amazing. While you will only get the full experience with content offered in 4k these days many Netflix shows are available at this resolution. When coupled with the contrast and colour, the 4k brings amazingly detailed images.

Overall I would definitely recommend this product over higher priced 4k OLED offerings as it has all the same benefits without a hefty price tag. I also commend Samsung's great support and high level of service offered.

I was given a small incentive for an honest review.

Great TV – The first thing I noticed when this TV was delivered, is that its huge. Definitely a two man lift kind of job. That being said, ten minutes later it was out of the box, stand attached (electric screw driver is a must) cable hooked up and ready to got. The single cable between the TV and One Connect unit is a brilliant idea, making set up easy… Read more

enough I'm sure my grandma could work this out. Turning it on for the first time, it pretty well takes care of connecting to the WiFi and channel tuning itself. Having a Samsung phone with smart connect makes this all so much easier. Speaking of phone integration, it is a real feature for this TV. I use a S9 and the smart things app allows me to do a bunch of really cool things. I can use my phone as a remote, with a little touch pad for navigation. I can cast my phone screen to the TV or the TV to my phone or even just the audio, which makes watching TV with Bluetooth headphones a breeze. Not that the remote that comes with it is bad. They have done a great job of simplifying the bottoms and making it a nice economical shape, it even has a microphone so you can just tell it what to do. This works surprisingly well, just press the button, say "cat videos" and in a few seconds YouTube is up and cats are playing. My one gripe with the remote is the power button icon is slightly off center on the button. In general I would say that software behind has been well integrated, with lots of useful features and is easy enough to use. Now to the screen, it is a beaut! I would say the colour is the stand out, incredibly vivid colours and amazing brightness. Playing 4K content really highlights just how crisp and silky smooth this screen is. It was seriously a draw dropping moment the first time I played a 4K video. I'd also like to add that I was given a small incentive for an honest review of this product, I would highly recommend this TV.
