This beauty lasted 11 years – Great washing machine. Has done me well over the last 11 years and I bought it 2nd hand!!! Has always been reliable. Will def purchase another one. Show details · 1
Workhorse – Had this machine for about 12 years and hasn’t missed a beat. Some of the buttons are worn off. Can’t fault it. Used at least 4 times a week in the 12 years. Show details
Retirement day for this champ of a machine. Had for 10+ years (and I got it secondhand) and only ever had to replace 1 water inlet solenoid about 6 years ago. Went to replace the solenoid again but parts are now scarce and expensive. Upgrading to a larger machine. Farewell old friend. Show details · 1

Cant fault this machine... 5 years on and still going strong – I purchased this machine second hand just over 3 years ago for $150 (it was about 2 years old a the time so total age is approx. 5 years). It hasn't skipped a beat and is the perfect size for a couple. Despite being a 50 L machine it is very roomy (perhaps due to the unobtrusive rotator design). All you need to do is turn it on and press go, … Read more · 1
the machine works out how much water it needs and adjusts the time accordingly - perfect. There are plenty of other programs and adjustments if you want to do quick or delicate load etc.... and it is simple to use (intuitive). Washes everything perfectly first time.
My only slight quibbles if I had to fault it:
- the plastic on the lid and top seems to have yellowed quite noticeably but since it is hiding in the laundry and doesn't affect the use of the machine I can live with it.
- the tune it plays at the end of the cycle is a bit cheesy... but again, I can live with that. At least it doesn't keep beeping until you turn it off like some machines do.
- not the most energy efficient machine but very cheap and reliable
Overall, highly recommended!
Competitive price, Good in first year only – We bought this top loader washing machine (SW50USP) after our NEC machine had broken. The machine broken two weeks ago because the valve became rustic and water leak to the Control Board. Control Board somehow didn't give signal so it didn't wash, Cold Water wouldn't get into the machine. End up repairer suggest us get a new one, the repair may… Read more
cost the same as the new one.
we bought another one and this time we go for European brand. we only have tiny space to fit the washing machine by the time I thought we don't have too much option. Now we look around we just realise most front loader can fit that width so we end up by a better brand.
3 years using this machine we found…
Cleaning the filter is problematic because the drain filter lay on the back of the machine, every time we clean up you have to move the whole machine to clean.
Leaking happen at least once a year even you clean up the drain filter. Competitive price, Good in first year Leaks inside and out, short life span, expensive maintaince, spinning very loud after a year usage.
Good – I bought this machine about a year and a half ago after reading reviews on this site. I have never had a problem with this machine and would recommend it to anyone. I own several Samsung appliances which all display a high level of quality and reliability. Other reviewers have mentioned the detergent drawer being flimsy but I have not had any… Read more
issues with it at all. The foldable lid was also a concern when I bought it but once again, it works fine and is stronger than I thought. - Lint filter works well and was one of the main reasons I bought the machine.
- Easy and effective to use. Turn it on, press a button and away it goes.
- Display screen gives me a time estimation of completion which is suprisingly useful.
- Despite appearances, the machine is quite robust.
- It cleans! - Shutoff valve is harsh and creates a loud watterhammer when it stops filling with water.
- Lack of agitator seems to cause clothes to tangle.
- Large loads with sheets or towels can sometimes unbalance in the spin cycle. Despite what the manual says, the best way to sort this out is to lay the towel around the outside of the tub instead of rolling them up.

This is a top little washer! – I can't believe how well clothes wash, but best of all they come out of machine and dry so much quicker. I can even control length of wash rinse spin. Show details · 1
Lid Magnet dropped off lid from rust, giving dE error – I purchased this 8kilo top loader in 2008, has been used least once a week, its now May 2017, been a great washing machine , only hurdle was the lid magnet fell off, assuming it went through the pump, used a small strong magnet & waved it over the mother board until error went away and it started washing, then glue it down .( Shellys Super Glue),… Read more
Lets see if I can get another 9 years from it, Tip, always clean lint filter after every wash,!! great machine
washes clothes excellent
not noisy
the chime to tell me the load is done, and how dry it spins the clothes. Been a great machine!!!!
Great machine, hasn't skipped a beat – Owned from new for 5 years. Hasn't skipped a beat, huge wash programme selection, great size drum, would definitely buy again. I see a lot of people have had issues with Samsung products, but that is not my experience.

A bit rough on my clothes – This is a solid washing machine which I have used frequently for a number of years. I like the simple display and various wash settings. One thing I have noticed is that it can be a little rough on my clothes. In fact, when I notice a little hole in my underwear and I want to throw them away but feel guilty because it isn't quite bad enough yet, I… Read more
throw it into the washing machine knowing it will tear it up a little bit! I use wash bags to keep my more delicate clothes safe (which you should do with any washing machine). The energy and water ratings are also poor. It is a reliable machine though so I'm giving it 3 stars.
Workable for 8 years and still going with a few bumbs recently – Works well, I've had 2 things happen it the last year or two in regard to this machine. 1. The magnetic part on the lid eroded so I replaced it myself with a cupboard magnet but it had to be placed at the front of the machines power board on right hand side and works perfectly fine now. 2. i.e kept coming up on the screen and the spin cycle… Read more
wouldn't work so I switched it off and took the power cord out of power socket left it for 5 days unplugged and on the fifth day plugged it in and viola' it reset itself and works perfectly fine again. Here's to hopefully a few more good years with this machine I've had it for 8 so she's doing well.
Disappointing – We have the exact same problem as Trevor McCarroll with the magnet which tells the machine the lid is closed so will not continue with the wash cycle. The machine thinks lid is open and won't work. We have replaced the lid (and therefore the magnet) but this did not help and we can't get the to the control panel because the screws are now… Read more
rusted. We have already had to replace the control board once for the start switch that had stopped working in 2012 so are very disappointed

Machine won't run – This is a very good machine - I had trouble with it not running but connected cold water inlet to both hot and cold connections on the machine and run the machine on cold&hot combination which works perfectly (cold water only of course). I am using it in my caravan as it's light and compact very quiet and washes well without tangling wouldn't run at all

Rubbish – Fine to begin with. But the magnet which tells the machine the lid is closed is exposed to splashing and so rusts. The machine then thinks lid is open and won't work. You can't buy a replacement magnet. The screws holding the control panel to the body of the machine are plain steel and also subject to splashing - they rust so much they can't be undone see above
Won't buy another Samsung – I had one of these machines and it worked fabulously, then it started to show black bits of something all over the clothes when the cycle finished, despite me cleaning the filter each time. I put in a service call and told them the issue, can't remember what I was told, but it was a tale of spin. Because I was happy with the rest of its operation… Read more
and assuming it was a one iff issue, I tossed this and bought another one the same. After some use, same thing, spitting out black bits of something all over the clothes. Also about every fourth wash or so, there is a puddle of water on the floor from a leak somewhere. A shame because other than this it's a great machine but I give up now, I'll buy something else and toss this one too. Great price and size, washes well, very reliable. Black stuff spitting out, puddles of water OB floor every fourth wash or so.
The best washing machine I have ever had – I have had my 8 kg Samsung for around 4 years, and bought it after reading the great reviews on a product site. Best decision I ever made!! 4 years later I have had no problems at all, it washes like a dream, has the best lint filter, never gets unbalanced and washes and spins clothes, towels and blankets perfectly and still looks like new.. am here again trying to find a second hand one for my daughter.. The BEST lint filter, perfectly spins everytime, and washes so well. Nothing, ziltch zip. The only problem is I cant find a second hand one for my daughter.
Worst Washing Machine ever! – Just threw this in the trailer for the tip, just 2 years old. What didn't go wrong - broken lid multiple times, lint filter broke into pieces, constantly leaked water into the machine after finishing a wash so clothes were wet, unless you removed them immediately. To top it off it flooded the laundry on Saturday. We refuse to waste any more… Read more
money, it never did spin dry very well either. Both my wife and I agree we've never made such a bad purchase - this was total junk and deserves no stars if that was an option. We had a smaller F&P and needed something bigger and purchased this on the recommendation of the Harvey Norman staff member who supposedly owned one, we even questioned the quality of the folding plastic lid - no, no problems at all she said - hmmmm. Wish I'd known about this site back then. Anyway when this died we grabbed a large F&P off Gumtree as it was the weekend and we needed a machine quickly, it's secondhand and will probably outlast the Samsung three fold. I'd never buy Samsung white-goods again and would suggest people stay away from these on the secondhand market as they aren't produced anymore but no surprise there. No agitator Leaks inside and out, lid's made of cheap plastic and breaks, lint filter also bad quality and breaks
Good for the price – The price of this machine was the highlight of it, and living in a share house at the time, it wasn't a bad option. However after only a few years of use the plastic on the machine has turned into a going off yellow colour and the machine started to squeak during the cycle as well. I don't think this machine would have lasted to many more months… Read more
and I would never bother spending any money to repair this. I'm happy to have replaced it with a Bosch now and would never consider Samsung for white goods again. Cheap, the catchy Song it plays, Turbo Dry Function. Cheaply made plastic, poor lifespan.
didn't last long – my Top Load 7.5kg Washing Capacity (SW75USP) it stopped taking cold water in after 3 years (got it in Sep. 2008) and had it repaired with a new panel ($300+). Now the same problem has happen again (1 ½ years later) not worth fixing again, thinks I'm getting a front loader this time. This machine only lasted 4 ½ years. Saying that I’ve been happy with its washing performance.
Short lived Product – Bought the machine in mid 2010. Had to get it serviced in early 2012. And then again at Easter 2013. issue only slight and water went straight down the drain now we have moved and laundry is in kitchen so no drain and no slope on the floor so have to pull the machine out everday and dry the floor. Cheap and nasty.
Never buying a Samsung product again! – I have the Samsung washing machine model SW75USP and it is the worst washing machine I have ever owned. I the second year of owning the machine black mould flakes would end up all over our clothes. Samsung reluctantly came to clean the machine and tried to say we wee the problem for using fabric softener! Why would we ever buy a machine where… Read more
fabric softener couldn't be used! In the third year of owning it the problem arose again, Samsung came to clean the machine and again tried to blame us. The problem has happened again (twice in the same year) and the rule with Samsung is that once the problem happens 3 times they replace the machine. Only catch is they don't care what happened in the manufacturers warranty when we are using extended warranty. The repair mob that samsung use in brisbane are incompetent and actually made the machine worse (water was black) and have now broken parts of the machine (currently waiting on approval from extended warranty). Samsung are trying every which way to get out of being liable for this heap of s$@t machine! I own several Samsung items, however I will NEVER buy Samsung again!
Very sneaky warranty rules, continuous problem with mould, poor Samsung repairmen, poor customer service

Very easy to use! – I bought the 8kg model, it is easy to use. I had a 5.5kg so this one fits so much more! I wasn't sure about not having an agitator, but as long as I tie up any cords, the clothes don't get too tangled. I have 2 dogs and I find that the magic filter does trap a lot of lint, but not much of their hair. I can fit so much in it Not collecting the pet hair Show reply
lid keeps breaking – I am very happy with the machine, however im not happy with the lid it is cheap rubbish plastic and keeps breaking ,i have had the lid replaced at least 12 times over the 3 years i have had the machine i will not be buying an another samsung washing machine ever due to this problem Cheap rubbish plastic lid
Its a dream to use – I have had this machine for about 36 months and in that time it has never let me down, I love the fact that it has no agitator, and also it has a turbo dryer incorporated in the machine, and this allows me to dry pillows and blankets on the line in a very short perios of time. fuzzy etc,
prior to my Samsung TV, I had not used this brand, but I must say I am very happy with it. At first, no agitator, Nothing wrong with machine, but found the manual for use at first a bit of a problem.
Works welll – I bought the SW50USP version. I use this machine 1-4 times a week without any major problems. It doesn't seem to sense the height of a load of washing accurately, so I adjust it to a higher capacity of water setting. I love how I can wash bulky items such as pillows due to it not having an agitator. The only time I've had problems with things… Read more
tangling (due to the lack of an agitator) is when I am pre-washing large lengths of dress fabrics, and they all end up in one big tangled mess. Works well
Good – I like this machine have had for two years now without any problems.Apart from the tight detergent drawer. For a budget machine it is good value for money. Price and reliability. Have not had any problems with this machine. As I mainly use cold water I fill the machine with warm water once a month and use a triple dose of powder and soak overnight without clothes. This keeps the bowl clean and odour free. Tight detergent drawer. Show reply
Horrible...gets out of balance easily – SW80USP - I really loved it at first but then the hot water inlet inside the back of the machine leaked badly before 12 months. The spray rinses used to be great to save water but now it gets out of balance very easily and swaps 5 spray rinses for 5 full fill rinses. Each time it gets out of balance, it starts that rinse all over again in an… Read more
effort to fix itself. That uses alot of water.
I now have to baby it and be there for each wash. Do not buy this machine if you want to put a load on before bed to hang it up in the morning. Multiple spray rinses until now - not a machine you can set and confidently walk away from Hot water inlet started leaking heavily before 12 months

Easy as 123 – I purchased this machine primarily because of its smaller size and proposed high frequency use. a smaller load.
The selection of the tub without a centre agitator was important because mum suffers from incontinence and occasionally wets her bed. So this machine is actually quite good to wash wool blankets of queen size, kylie blankets, bed sheets and flexible bedside floor mats (not carpet material). The three spin settings allows for a fairly thorough spin out of water for quicker drying.
The machine allows you to set a regular favourite wash cycle in memory, which is a three button start process, or you can opt out and select a cycle for an appropriate wash or fabric. Water height is automatically selected by clothes weight but is can be overridden for high volume - low weight loads.
It's blister button controls also allow you to pause the wash when, for instance, you want to go and have your shower and dont want the hot water to be interrupted to your shower.
The lint filter is very efficient and easily popped out from the side wall and cleaned.
The controls have a child proof lock and the machine has lid-open sensing.
Things that could be done to improve this machine:
The machine could be improved with a bright coloured lint filter canister as my mum sometimes cannot see it.
There are also two plastic plugs that cover the screws on the top for the lid to sit on. When these get sticky from residues of soap, the cover pulls them out when opened. So they can be easily lost.
There is a slight water-hammer effect if you do not have a water-hammer reducing damper in your water pipes. This machine could benefit from water-hammer dampening devices in its water supply lines. This is particularly important as if the unit was purchased for an apartment, water-hammer impacts could annoy neighbours. reliable, efficient lint filter, easy to operate, top loader with low height and no centre agitator minor issues to do with the design of the lid rests
Excellent – I used to have a sophisticated Electrolux, which ended up being a constant nightmare. I bought the Samsung SW50USP with a 5 year warranty, and ended up being… Read more
delighted with my purchase. This is the friendliest, easiest, most versatile little machine you could find. Even after selecting your program, you can modify it exactly the way you want, temperature of water, quantity of water, length of washes, number of rinses, pre-drying... There you can put in memory your personal preferences and get them back in a click the next time! The washing is very good as well. As with any other machine you need to spray some prewash on the stains, and on it goes! I am delighted with my choice. I have had it for 2 years now and never needed my extended warranty. What a difference! So easy to use, so friendly, I can organise the wash just the way I want! Price is an absolute plus as well!
Terrible – I have cut my losses after only a few months and sold the machine at considerable loss. The machines was working "to specification"; it is unfortunate that Samsung's idea of how a washing machine should work are rather different to mine. I expect washed clothes that haven't had the life beaten out of them - this machine failed on both accounts. … Read more
DO NOT BUY - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
OVERALL RATING - ZERO (but I have to put in 1 on this system - pity) Compact dimensions for the size of the washbowl (I had the 8kg model) 1. There is only ONE spin speed. The spin button controls the time, but not the speed. So, anything washed on the delicate cycle gets wrung out in the same way as towels - lots and lots of ironing required.
2. Washing machines are meant to WASH. This one is OK at refreshing things, but shirt collars, for example, do not wash clean, even they have sprayed with Preen. I do all my washing with OMO (and have prior to the purchase of this machine), so I know it's not the powder.
3. Detergent drawer is a joke. Powder residue is left behind at the end of the cycle and liquids just poor straight into the bowl when you close the drawer.
4. Very, very harsh on the 'normal' cycles - Fuzzy, Quick etc. After a few washes, near new towels look like they're several years old.
5. Makes extremely loud bang every time the valve shuts down the water - never heard anything like this before. Have been told by serviceman that this is how it works.
6. Blankets cycle (meant to be the right one for sheets) ties everything in knots and creases sheets, so that I needed to spend hours ironing them (poly/cotton). I would hate to think what it would do with pure cotton sheets!
7. Water saving cycle that nearly 1.5 hours, of which the machine spends over 1 hours spinning around and squirting a little water onto the clothes - again, very creased/crumpled clothing at the end of the cycle.
Terrible – If I do not get to the bottom of the algae stuff coming into the wash by next week it will be going out and replaced by a front loader. Good price for the 5Kg. Top loader good size. Easy functions. Great lint filter. See through lid very good. A. Only ONE spin speed, no spin speed control. - B. Anything washed on any cycle gets wrung out in the… Read more

I wouldn't recommend it – In 18 years My Simpson Delta 422 never required any service. It was however, showing symptoms of fatigue. Poor thing. It emitted a very loud bang when I manually changed water temperatures,… Read more
as well as, during a full automatic cycle. Perhaps water pressure or valve related I considered this to be a serious mechanical problem. Apparently, this problem has been identified in other models, yet it still hasn't been ironed out. Perhaps its less costly to do nothing or Samsung believe its standards to be in sync with those of its paying customers. Such mechanical failures one expects after long service. As it is, my confidence in the machine's durability took a nose dive.
Secondly, changing washing, rinse and spin cycles I found infuriating, e.g. interupting the 'washing' cycle so as to reduce the remaining time of this stage had the opposite affect. The machine would begin the whole wash cycle from the beginning. In short, the more one tries to decrease various cycle times the more one is caught in additive and interminable loops. Ah, the old Simpson, whatever stage it was in simply depress the dial, click-turn to spin dry and wallah! The only good thing I can say is that the finished quality of the machine is excellent - but as they say you can't judge a book by its cover.
PS: keep it simple. The more electronic bells and whistles on cheap-end machines(sensors and the like)the greater the probability of dissatisfaction and/or service.

Not bad, but not good either – It is small and compact, though when I bought it said it was designed not to tangle clothes, but it tangles clothes quite badly. quite often the are weight distribution errors. the machine exterior ages quite fast, the plastic turns yellow if exposed to sunlight and the screws rust. you can see more than the drum inside the machine, which suggests… Read more
to me that it is the same exterior as the larger load, but that is to be expected, but there is no compensation for that and when the machine is empty you can see wires along the inside of the exterior shell. And you cant have the nano silver sanitation and bacteria protection on on the same cycle. inexpensive, reliable, cleans clothes great, child lock doesn't work, delay start doesn't work, can't change the spin speed, long wash cycles, bad water shut off valve it clonks but still leaks into the drum.
