Reliable Sanli 400 – Reflecting on my purchase of Sanli 400 . Purchased it 7 years ago , $400 new from local dealer , my Rover 3.5hp of 17yrs had spluttered to death. I'd just had open heart surgery & Sanli's easy pull start tension was a winner. After 7 yrs , one service from dealer/ oil change ,base plate checked etc. I'm now looking at new blades, starts second… Read more

pull cold ( as per dealer instructions) and first pull warm everytime. Original spark plug still going! Doesn't smoke like Rover did after 5 yrs . Considering it was an impromptu purchase and I was a tad skeptical about its Chinese conception it has served us well so far.

not up to scratch – I purchased my Sanli mower new from a dealer Mt Tamborine 18 mths ago , the first time I used it the Sanli badge fell off , the catcher is made from moulded plastic its in two parts and is clipped together it keeps on falling apart after it is half full ,that's a real pain ,the foam hand grip is split and falling off , occasionally the mower… Read more

coughs splutters and stops , the mower allways starts first pull of the cord , I have contacted Sanli twice about these issues they tell me to contact the dealer I purchased from ,but he has shjut up shop and gone , I should have paid more and got a Honda.

Chinese engines ( honda clone ) – I have repaired a number of these engines over the years . And I have found them very reliable . The only problem is choke adjustment, water in fuel bowel, or coil failure which is cheap to replace. Most companies would rather sell you a more expensive mower more profit for them.

Rubbish Mowers In Australia – We bought 3 Sanli mowers with our neighbors less than last year. Did not work properly, took it to seller several times and then contacted to main office no appropriate response. We decided to purchase a 2nd hand mowers for $60 each which are works much better than Sanli mowers. If you would like to waste your time and money feel free to buy these… Read more

rubbish chinese products.

At the first 3 hours usage, all blades get loose, body are not solid and strong enough, they said , has Honda copy engine which is crap.

Contacted some dealers, they already stopped selling Sanli products as they had lots of problem with their customers.

Hate this business.

Very disappointing – I am normally someone who spends money to buy the right gear. I looked at reviews of 4 in 1 self propelled and went with it over its dearer rivals. That was a terrible mistake. I do have a steepish yard thus opted for the self propel, which would be great if the drive from wheel to wheel worked. The transfer mechanism for the propel is poor and… Read more

the plastic wheel which is internally geared does not work. It has made mowing a nightmare as now I don't have the propel and am pushing a very heavy mower around. The old rover with a Suzuki two stroke that I gave away would of been a lot easier to mow with.

Issues I have include poor start up. Poorly positioned air filter that requires regular maintenance. Expensive air filter replacements. Snapped pull chord very early. Light weight wheel brackets to main frame that bend if hit anything. Surclip to catcher bar came off. Plug needs to be immaculate for good start up.

This mower may be fine for a flat small yard but definitely doesn't cut it for my yard

Very disappointing to say the least – I bought the self propelled model although it starts first time every time that is its only endearing feature. I was told that it has every bit as much power as my vista with a 190cc Briggs and Stratton engine well it doesn't. The machine it greatly underpowered and not good for large areas as advertised this machine has been a dude from day one I should have walked away from the mower when it wouldn't run in the shop

This mower surprised me – I was desperate for a new mower. My finances were at a low period so when I saw the Sanli advertised at $180. I was thinking it could not be much good however, it will get me out of trouble until I can afford one of the "known brands". I am mature age female living on my own, so the last thing I needed was a temperamental mower, that would not… Read more ·  1

start . We all know what that's like Only too well. The comments on this site about the mower starting are correct, Surprise surprise !! It starts almost every time on first pull!!!!(Sometimes a second). The motor is quiet and efficient. There are a couple small issues with control knob, however I have overcome this and I am grateful this mower does not give me grief when I want it to start. I am thinking of buying one of their grass edge snippers. Extremely Reliable. Realistic price Requires more sturdy control knob.

Excellent – I am a retired engineer and have repair lawnmowers for the last 5 to 7 years so I have experience with many mower manufactures and many models. The last item I needed was a new lawnmower but after seeing them on display at a major shopping outlet at the price of $166 I decided to buy one. The motor is a direct copy of a Honda and runs… Read more ·  1

beautifully, smooth and quiet unlike many others without mentioning names. Big wheels with metal bearings, 4 cutting blades, bag type catcher, proper carburettor, proper air filter and light to handle.

If these mowers are treated properly I can see them providing excellent service for many years.

The only point of concern is that when mowing wet grass the mower needs to be hosed underneath after mowing as grass collects at the rear shute area and like all other mowers wet grass left on a sheetmetal surface will rust.

over time Easy to start, first time everytime, quiet, smooth, governor operates beautifully, large bearing wheels, metal carburettor, large air cleaner, 4 blade cutting disc. Requires hosing underneath after mowing.

Good – I am probably one of the many folk who have been brought up with the notion that anything out of China is Junk. I gave this inexpensive mower a go and it really is good. Live on a large block and mow on average - once a fortnight. Had it for to years - as good as new. Easy start Reliable Catcher can fall off

Excellent – Initially, I was skeptical about another machine, claiming Australian design input and made in China. After seriously checking the display model out in the store, for build quality, fitment of the components, and general assembly, I have changed my view. Look out major players, Sanli appears to have the goods here with this line of quality… Read more

affordable lawnmowers. Every one looks for a bargain and I am sure that once people realise that this is a reputable brand that offers real value for money, it will be a sort after item. Well done Sanli! For a budget priced lawn mower, I was expecting to have to assemble a miriad of loose components etc. I was very impressed to find that I had to do was add fuel and oil! Mower stared on the third pull from initial start up. Note: allow the engine to run at half throttle for the first few minutes as any rough running quickly sorts itself out, The engine will run in much easier if allowed to free up with no load.

Instruction manual is clear and easy to follow. Catcher fits well and looks to be a reasonably robust unit. Engine appears to be very similar to the Honda design and looks well made. I cannot fault this machine. Time will tell if there are any weaknesses, however the 2 year domestic warrenty should cover this adequately. Purchased from Kmart Brisbane. I loved the price! Absolutely nothing.

Excellent – great value for $229(.Kmart.)a no fuss and well thourght out design I think.love the metalic paint finish.plenty of clearance between the motor and chasis for easy cleaning too.Caution.. the instruction manual says to pour the entire 600ml of oil into the sump before use. I slowly poured in about a total of 550ml and the dipstick showed… Read more ·  1

full.cheched it again after first use and the was the same. So be carefull not to overfill with oil.I have about 50ml to spare. I like the wide 46cm cut, mowed yard in much less time.Had more time to enjoy a beer and admire the mower. My first lmpression is "thumbs up" I'm very pleased indeed. Used my new mower first time today. Excellent – I think, value for money, this is a great mower. It seems very similar to the Honda which is double the price. Easy to use and runs very well. I am always happy with the way in which it cuts. Can recommend. Great mower cuts very well. Height adjustment quick and easy. I also like the way in which the catcher sits on. Many mowers in this price… Read more

range fail to be as good as this. If you leave the fuel pump/filter switch on, it can be a bit hard to start next time round. Small issue, user error.

Good – handled my thick buffalo grass as well as any more commonly used brands. starts easier than most and good fuel economy... no problems as yet and glides easy across thick grass due to its large wheels. top product sanli. i recommend to anyone on a budget. incredible value for a good quality product runs rough at full throttle but suits best mid range..

Terrible – First use oil gushed out on blades. Repaired seal. Since then it has required repairs after or during use. Rear wheel bracket broke off. Front wheel Broke off. Replaced all engine mounts. Issues with choke. The spark plug connector brittle and fell apart. Now the fuel lines are all cracking and I have now had it 2 years. Don't, Just Don't. Might be cheap, But there is a good reason for it!!!!!!! The Whole Thing

Good – All the work from this mower has been good. The one problem I had occurred while I was away when my son filled up the oil again. This apparently blocked the jets and stopped the mower running. On contacting Sanli they promptly repaired the mower, replacing the carburetor and returned it to me. Since then it has worked fine and I have no hesitation… Read more

in stating that I would purchase a Sanli for my next mower. Easy to start and runs strongly. Thick and tall grass can be cut easily. Solidly built and thick blades cut well. Height adjustment suits close cut or high clearance cutting. The warranty is quickly honored by Sanli Australia (website for local service centres) at Riverstone. Overfilling the oil can cause serious problems.
