Scandia Warmbrite

Scandia 300 was installed about 10 weeks ago and has replaced a 22-year-old Osborne insert which was fantastic, but fan died and couldn't get a replacement so big shoes to fill, it was still on original baffles and firebricks. Had Scandia installed professionally by Chimeroo who are local and did a great job. So far its been pretty good, I spoke… Read more · 1
to Scandia office here in Melbourne prior to purchase about so concerns with build issues and warranty problems that I had but were answered honestly which was refreshing. I agree with other reviews about the damper not being very effective and not burning through the night despite using large Redgum logs. I decided on this heater as it is was a cheaper option, we are only staying in house another couple of years. Very satisfied with choice so far.
Product is only been in use 3 years & already replaced firebricks twice, metal bracket holding the fire bricks in place twice, glass once, rope door seal once & now the fan is non functional!! Absolutely would NEVER purchase this brand EVER again. Complete waste of $. Show details
DO NOT RECOMMEND. Fan is VERY noisy, even on low setting. It's definitely intrusive, even when watching television. Fan switch is at the bottom of the fire, making it difficult, and dangerous, to reach. It also gets too hot to touch if the firebox actually gets hot enough to warm the room. The door handle is poorly designed. It too gets too hot… Read more
to touch, and you can burn your knuckles on the door if you're not focused on the act of opening. The vent slide handle has the same poor design, so it also gets too hot and is difficult to move. It doesn't even fully close the vent for the fire to last all night, so we wake up to a cold house again in the morning. I am a small person with small hands so I imagine these things about switches and handles would be worse for larger people. I can't say that the firebox actually heats the room as such, it more just takes the chill out of the air. That's why I gave it 2 stars - it looks pretty and I'm not frozen dead yet Honestly though, we should have bought another Jarrahdale instead :(

Terrible customer service and product !!!!! – Poor product cant slide knob that is ment to shut down the fire when the door is shut When you do slide flue knob across it makes no difference to the fire at all Its burns so hot and not being able to shut it down it has bent and warped the steel frame that holds the bricks in place Wouldn’t recommend wasting your money by a good brand as these are rubbish Customer service is rubbish too

Very satisfied. Old cottage (150+) and I installed in a fireplace. With good quality hardwoods, easily burns overnight. I use a Scandia heat fan, this does an effective job too. Overall very well made, reliable and value for money. The fire has been on through five cold long winters now. Show details · 1
Great Heater – Bought from Bunnings, I Replaced a 35 year old Masport completely rusted out. Looked at many heaters and value for money the Scandia were tops. Received 2 days after buying it. The packaging was first class with no damage at all. Ripped out the old Masport and replaced with the new heater using existing flue system. First light up was a bit smoky from the paint as expected, 3 speed fan very quiet. All in all very happy and value at $1300.
Very good – The best wood heater I’ve used.easy to use, great price and very efficient.we have had ours for 4 years and it shows no signs of aging.would recommend for large areas or small. Show details

Not good – Installation was carried out by a professional, Looks good, tight clearances allows for versatile installation. Not a big home, 3 bed ,lounge and small dining area The unit burns through seasoned hardwood exorbitantly and will not stay on all night Very little radian heat, fan must always be on to disperse heat Fan is very loud and the… Read more
control gets to hot to touch when the fire box gets hot The air flow control leaver makes very to no difference in burning weather open all closed, always too much air Won't maintain desired temperatures Would not recommend this product, unfortunately as we so much needed it to work. Yes you save on the initial cost , if it was only for looks it would be a winner. As an effective heating solution not good at all.

Terrible heater – This heater was ok for a while but then started to fall to pieces. Unfortunately the Scandic people did not want to know and we are unable to find a repair person. To try to fix it. Do not buy this brand Show details

Not good – I only had this heater installed a week ago and it’s hard work, we only need it to heat one average size room and it barely does the job , I’m constantly having to put small pieces in to get it to burn properly Show details

Poor heat output, won't burn all night, very noisy fan & chews through wood – *Poor heat output: I have tried good dry redgum, ironbark, and other eucalypt woods and the heater just doesn't put out much heat. It barely takes the chill off whereas the Stanley stove in the kitchen keeps the same area chill free. *Won't burn all night: Wake up every morning to a cold heater and icy house unless I have the Stanley going in… Read more
the kitchen (Burns all night).
*Very noisy fan: Can't hear the TV over the fan I also have to turn the fan off when i go to bed as the heater is next to my bedroom and it keeps me awake.
*Chews through the wood: This fire uses twice the wood that the Ultimate heater in my previous home used.
*The wood i am/have used is well seasoned and stored under cover. I also keep a few days worth of wood inside so it is not chilled or damp.
*Flue has been cleaned.
*This fire was here when i moved in 8 weeks ago, I am already thinking of changing it over. I would not recommend these heaters.
Not worth the hassle – Not impressed width this heater . Replaced my old unit with the warm brite 140 used as correctly and within a year the baffle was ruined and not covered by warranty had to make a new one myself as they wouldn’t even sell me a replacement then another season gone there are major cracks around the door frame I’ll have to repair . Needless to say it’ll be getting replaced with a quality fireplace before next season Show details
Good value if you look after it – Our house is 240 sqm. I bought this little heater as I didn't want our house to be stupidly hot. It heats our house comfortably. It was basically the only heater that was cost effective at the time. I can get it to burn all night happily but there is a process. I shut the air off 30 min-1hr before bed and then load it up. Also i have a set of magnets that I stick over 3 of the 4 holes and it will slowly smoulder all night if I need it to. Show details

Didn't Last long – Our Scandia replaced an antique heater that was in our weekender when we purchased it - and is now being used outdoors as a firepit - it's frame is still together - the doors had fallen apart. The Scandia heater is was installed 2 years ago, but is falling apart already. I would have thought that it would last much longer than that considering it… Read more
was used sporadically at a weekender property. Other wood fire heaters we have owned have been in the home for 20+ years and are still going. We will replace it with something second hand, and older that we know will last. Very disappointing.
It suited our budget, but its proved not so great – The Warmbrite is a good size for the man cave, but after 2 years its showing signs of wear and tear that a 10 year old unit might experience. Not sure if its the steel or the design, but we're looking to replace it already. Not ideal, but its made in China, so I guess we couldn't expect more. Show details
Inefficient, noisey Chinese heater, thumbs down – Overall pretty unhappy with our heater, incredibly noisy fan and terribly inefficient, Wont burn any longer than 5 or 6 hours and never going in the morning. Cheep Chinese heater. Show details
Poor heating, terrible airflow – We bought this after a bit of research to upgrade our previous firebox. It emits next to no radiant heat, the fan is super loud and not very efficient. The worst part of this box is the airflow. It cannot burn properly unless the door is left ajar. Otherwise it suffocates itself. So your option is to leave the door ajar and burn through lots of… Read more
wood. Or close it up and have poor heating and unable to burn through the night. I would not recommend this firebox.
Brilliant – Upgraded to 200 for better heating for a bigger house and cant complain. Best fireplaces I have had. These people complaining obviously dont know how to use a wood fire. Show details
Cracked within three years, won't honour warranty – Fireplace is three years old and has cracked in two areas. Despite having a serial number, and proof of manufacturing date, they will not honour the 10 year warranty. You'll regret buying this after a few years.
Only positive from me on this Warmbrite 300 – I have had wood heaters for 25 years and so far this is the best one I have had. Its basically half the price of others and puts out so much heat. Also burns overnight like stated. If any negatives the fan can be a little noisy, but that's minor. We have a large area to heat and it does it with ease. Show details
Disappointed... fire bricks and baffle poor quality – 2 years old and all side bricks cracked and fallen out, replaced, baffle burnt out, buckled and replaced, metal holding bricks in burnt out and replaced. Not as good as Ultimate heater lasted 20 years ++ Show details
It will suffice for now , not long term though – Purchased the 300 from Bunnings in August 2019 so this will be its first full season . Already cracked 5 bricks ( within. Few months of use ) and the front trim below the door falls off when you bump the heater putting in logs because the tabs aren't correctly lined up when it was made we also only burn well seasoned hardwoods only , so we need… Read more
to order at least 2 sets to keep as spares for later . We've decided to only give it a few years as it seems too flimsy to go the 20+ we got from our old coonara . It does put out a good amount of heat But mainly because of the fan so for the money paid it's doing what's been expected but definitely disappointed with the fire bricks not even doing 1 full season ....
Update .4/10/20 , cleaned out for end of season , all but 5 bricks cracked / broken , all bottom bricks broken and fan rattles on high speed scandia won’t sell direct for parts and bunnings not much help , fire bricks were 1 year and 2 months out of warranty .... save you money and buy something else... Ratings in review changed because of arising issues !
New update 25 /9/22 . Season nearly over , all fire bricks are now cracked / broken so 2 yrs is the… Read more

Could be much better...not worth saving a few bucks – I think the fire box is too small, needs to be deeper to fit most pieces of timber that are cut by firewood contractors. Does not have a long enough burn time. My mate has a warm bright 200 that works much better.... Size, burn time and heat. It works but all in all I'd spend the extra money and get an Australian made one next time. Show details
Great Wood Burner for the price – Good little Wood Burner/Heater The glass in the door is unreliable and ours has cracked after just two seasons NB! Be aware that there is no warranty on the glass and in my experience the glass is a weak point in these heaters.
Terrible Customer Service and Product – Absolute rubbish customer service and product (Warmbrite 300i) I should have taken more notice of my gut instincts when I rang Scandia to simply find out a product code I could give to Bunnings for a 45 degree bend for the flue and I spoke to 3 different people in their call centre and then 2 separate people via email/ chat just to get this basic… Read more
information. The call centre people just kept telling me to 'speak to my registered installer', as I kept repeating, my registered installer cant find this information either, hence the reason for my call. When I finally got the parts required for the installation (2 weeks after order) the installation instructions in no way correlate to the actual unit I am installing (specifically in relation to the fascia installation). Either the instructions relate to an old model or they relate to a different model, but they are not related to my fireplace. Furthermore, they have been so cheap to print the installation instructions in black and white on the cheapest paper they can buy so the diagrams are completely illegible. The screw holes from the fascia dont line up properly with the actual firebox itself so trying to get the screws on was a nightmare. Finally, the advertised Bunnings price may seem cheap but by the time you factor in the expensive flue components you need and the frustration of such a difficult installation its definitely not worth the hassle. If I am a Builder and my installer is a licenced Plumber and we had so much trouble then I feel sorry for the laymen trying to figure it out. Dont buy this 'cheap' rubbish, go to a proper fireplace supplier
Love it it does very thing I need to I love it – It works great, it doesn't over heat, I love how it goes far beyond what I thought it would, it heats up my whole room which I love so much about Show details
Perfect heater – The best wood heater you can buy. I am very happy with this product. I previously purchased wood heaters, and they don’t come close with the quality to this one. Show details
Unbelievable heater for the price – I purchased the scandia 140 over five years ago for $750 can’t understand how someone paid $2500 from Bunnings and $1000 to install I paid 300 with a certificate and heater is good in my area at home And gets lots of comments from visitors and how good it is also heater nowadays is still $750 roughly 400 for a fluke it $40 for top hat I think you might of got ripped off Show details
Great value – BEST wood heater I have ever had and I’ve had a few. half the price of most other brands and comparable quality Lots of quality metal very solid baffle plate won’t buckle like lighter ones and great fan and easy to clean. I could go on and on but you should get the picture lol Show details
good value for price – we got one of these because they were the cheapest , worked great , once lit pumped out heat very fast and has a good flat top for cooking on and boiling the kettle. have owned a kent inbuilt and a klondike pot belly as well as a stanley range before and this is the equal or better of them all. look after it and it will look after you.. Show details
pretty crappy heater – This heater was in our house when we bought it. It needs to be fed kindling for an hour before it is hot enough to burn wood without going out, then it burns too fast and goes out after an hour or so. We usually burn only good wood in it (hardwood Eucalypt). I'm always surprised at how little heat it puts out, unless it's really cranking which… Read more
chews through tons of wood. I would never buy this again, and we are going to replace this as soon as we can afford to.
I feel duped – Burns way too hot even with flue closed to maximum there is far too much air let in. Cannot make it burn till morning whatever I try. Manufacturer's literature says this is not an overnight burner because firebox too small. This is not the problem. The problem is that the flue design is all wrong. Tried to save money and lost a whole lot instead. Will stick to Kent from now on. Show details
scania warmbrite wood heater – waste of your time and money. 2 seasons only baffle and brick retainer all but gone. To replace parts are not cheap . cheaper to buy a better quality wood heater and not have to replace parts every 2 seasons. wont buy again . wll buy a better brand which will last Show details
