Tony not only helped organise all the materials, but every time we needed advice, he showed up and worked alongside my builders to ensure the outcome was flawless. Toby stepped us through all of our options and has been super helpful from purchase all the way through installation and more recently with after sales service. It is rare these days to deal with a company whose staff are as professional as Toby has been. If you are after a premium quality sauna then SDS is your best option
Follow-up · I installed it myself but did have to call a few times for advice and they were very helpfull. They have also been very available and helpfull by phone with a few follow up issues. The thickness of the timbers ensures great heat retention and the sauna has no trouble reaching and staying at 85 degrees
TL;DR: Took 6 months from order to refund. Poor communication, incorrect shipping details, inadequate packaging, damaged product, and multiple follow-ups required at every stage. Would not recommend. After two weeks of no communication, I emailed for an update (6 May). It took multiple follow-up emails before they finally shipped the panels on 28 May. However, they created a new invoice that swapped my billing and shipping addresses, sending the package to my old address. I had to contact Australia Post to redirect it.
The packaging was completely inadequate, just a small plank on either side with bubble wrap. Unsurprisingly, when I inspected the panels in August, one was damaged.
I returned the panels for a refund around 24 August. After they arrived at their warehouse, it took multiple follow-up emails (18 September, 29 September) and several promises that the refund would be processed “ASAP.” Finally, on 12 October (nearly 6 months after my original order), I set a deadline and mentioned contacting Consumer Affairs Victoria. The refund was issued the next day.
Throughout this entire process, I had to chase them at every single stage. The lack of proactive communication, careless shipping error, poor packaging, and delayed refund were extremely frustrating. I do not recommend this business based on my experience.
From start to finish, the experience buying a barrel sauna from Rico at SDS was a delight. Their showroom in North Sydney (a little hard to find) is beautiful and they have a full range on display. Kangaroo Valley. The crew who arrived had an unusual site on which to build it - nestled on a recently built platform in the rainforest that wraps around my house. The experience of taking a sauna every morning is one I cherish and I cannot recommend Rico and his team enough.
The communication with the company and especially with James has been fantastic. Very responsive both on emails and phone calls. We were on a tight schedule with regards to delivery of our barrel sauna and he was able to make it happen. James and SDS were fantastic. We embarked on a DIY sauna build with no idea! James took us through the options and helped us select not on the right heater but accessories needed. They took additional calls from me as I fumbled my way through the build and we ended up with a 5 star service and a great sauna. HUUM 13KW wood heater. Follow-up · We have purchased a number of barrel Saunas over the years from SDS upgrading from smaller to larger models with bigger heaters. I am an AVID sauna user. I have a barrel sauna from Canada despite living in Australia. I was lucky enough to have a fantastic heater that was from Sweden. Because I am lost with out my sauna Tyrell provided me with constant updates on the courier delivery, he helped with set up and trouble shoot once it arrive.

People are still always better than websites when you're desperate to order a sauna heater – I had trouble ordering through the website, but rang the number and Tyrell was able to create the purchase order on the phone. Incredible service – Anna from SDS Australia absolutely saved us! we run a recovery and wellness shop in Sydney, and when our heater stopped working in our main sauna, we didn't hesitate to get in contact with them to see what could be done.
