Second Chance Animal Rescue

KITTEN ADOPTION – Adopted a kitten yesterday. Karen and the team gave excellent service and I would recommend the shelter to anyone.
Refused to Help Homeless Cats & Kittens – This animal rescue claims to rescue animals, but this certainly was not my experience with them. I spoke to the founder on a number of occasions and pleaded with her to help me with a number of stray cats and kittens, however, she constantly refused to provide any assistance or help, despite the cats being only minutes away from her rescue. The founder would not allow me to bring any of the cats or kittens to Second Chance Rescue, stating that if SCAR was audited, they could be shut down and heavily fined by the council, because the cats could be someone's pets. To the founder, if you are reading this, how could any of these poor cats and kittens be somebodys pets if they are located in the middle of an INDUSTRIAL ESTATE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE, surrounded by factories and paddocks and are miles away from any homes or residential areas?
I tried my best to explain to you that I had been travelling to Craigieburn for at least 4 years to provide almost on a daily basis to provide food and care for the cats and kittens with absolutely no help or support from anyone. I also tried to explain to you that it was absolutely impossible for the cats to be anybody's pets as they had all been deliberately dumped there at different times and had then started breeding and having litter after litter of kittens, which did not belong to anyone!
You should be ashamed of yourself for refusing to provide any assistance to these cats and kittens who were in desperate need of help and medical attention, despite the fact that you have a fully equipped vet clinic on site and had the means to help them. It is also incredulous, how, despite your rescue being within an 8 minute walk from where the cats are, you still couldn't be bothered to help them, even when they were just around the corner from you. It's also extremely disappointing how you have shelves packed with dog and cat food, but you did not even offer any food for the cats and kittens, yet, you call yourselves an Animal Rescue Organisation?
In addition to all of the above, a family member contacted SCAR after being advised by Hume City Council to contact them regarding discount desexing, for which HCC could provide a desexing voucher. When my relative called SCAR, the founder came on to the phone and was extremely unhelpful and disinterested and could not even be bothered to advise what the cost of desexing would be with a voucher provided from the council. As a result of the very poor communication, my relative just gave up and went elsewhere.
Great staff & an interesting name:) – The first time I went here to Second Chance at Craigieburn I had my year old cat & now I am returning with her sister to get her desexed. I heard of this place only by my wonderful Hume Council :)
