owned much cheaper chairs for years without any issues like this.
First, the left one failed after only 3 months of ownership. Then the right one failed about 2 months later. Instead of sending me the new updated armrests they made, they sent me more of the same defective ones, which I will have to replace in another 3 months or so.
So I guess I'll need to file warranty claims every 3 months with them until they send me armrests that don't have an inherent flaw in the material.
I would have given at least 2 or even 3 stars because the rest of the chair is great, but the lack of any kind of help on this, or even a reply as to why they keep sending people faulty items instead of updating them keeps me from giving anything more than 1 star.
Google "secret lab armrest reddit" and you will see hundreds of posts/pictures highlighting this issue that Secret Lab refuses to even address.
I'm sure they will reply saying it's wear and tear, but this has been proven wrong by the hundreds of people with the exact same issue.
None of my past chairs had this issue and they were made from similar or the same material. They try to dance around their manufacturing defect by blaming the customer, and that's not right at all. I paid almost $400 for this chair so it shouldn't have these manufacturing issues.
It is NOT wear and tear. If it was, then why are other people experiencing the exact same issue on the exact same armrests within only a few months of purchasing the chair?
Stop lying to your customers and fix the defective armrests.

personally don’t have any discomfort issues sitting in it, and use this as my daily office chair during the work-from-home stage we are presently at with COVID-19. I can sit in this chair for up to 8 hours on some days (I have a sit-stand desk but sometimes have to rest after a couple of days standing most of the time). I actually bought it for this specific purpose - I don’t use it as a gaming chair.
I have to admit this was an impulse purchase buy before doing my usual due diligence in researching this chair against others. Other reviewers rightly stated their website only has 5 star reviews, so not the best gauge on whether it will be right for you. However, I’ll summarise by saying for me, this chair was a good buy.
When I bought mine they had the 2018 version on runout and the newer 2020 version available; the only difference from what I could tell was the seat back height had changed slightly between models. This was important to me as I need upper back support due to neck and shoulder problems. I ended up with the 2018 Omega as the height seemed to be sufficient (I’m 5”11 and 1/2). Assuming most people have similar proportions, the up to 6ft measure seems accurate. I’m the tallest in my family too, so had considered this perspective. I am an average build male with average width shoulders, so if you are quite big you might find the “wings” partS of the chair in the back and seat dig into your sides somewhat; but that will be the same with any chair of this style. If you’re not sure go sit in an equivalent style chair to see if this is a problem.
Other reviewers note the lumbar support is another cushion; this is correct. Same with the neck support. I find this is better than most of the high backed gaming chairs I have seen - especially the neck support “pillow” because at least you can adjust or remove to your liking. Other gaming chairs that are fixed either suit you or won’t - not something you’d want to test without sitting in. I was in A-Mart furniture on the weekend and saw a gaming chair for sale at a similar price to the Secretlab chairs. In my opinion they were of lower quality in all aspects - fit, materials and comfort.
Putting it together might be difficult for people who can’t assemble flat-pack furniture themselves, so for those people I suggest get a friend to help. The instructions seem pretty straightforward and are on one big piece of cardboard so you won’t lose them while assembling. As I advise everyone though, read the instructions (look at the pictures) all the way through first, so you have an idea of what to expect before you get there. The wheels appear to be standard sized chair castors with soft plastic wheels, so not sure about some suggestions that you can’t replace them?
Overall if you don’t want “plush” comfort and don’t have weak glutes, I think the firm comfort with the lumbar and neck cushions will give you many hours of comfortable sitting so you can focus on whatever you’re actually doing. I know they do for me. Photo has a Pearl drum stool next to it for size reference.

customisation is just next level. One suggestion though, upgrade the armrests. The padding on the stock rests is somewhat thin and my elbows hurt after gaming for far too long! But I don't care, this overbuilt beast is still worth every single penny!

the right chair. I selected a 2022 Titan EVO SoftWeave Chair in small.
The chair arrived in decent presentation, with clear assembly instructions.
Two hours after assembly the problems began. The armrest would not lock into place and was loose and of very poor quality. The NFC verification feature in the back of the chair was a dud, as three phones (Two iOS and one Android) all failed to get any response from the NFC Zone. The stitching was loose and poorly sewn. The backrest would not fully lock into place, and rattled and wobbled around.
I contacted SecretLab immediately by support ticket with a waiting time of up to 24 hours. After 48 hours with no response, I emailed. No response. I messaged online through their inbuilt online chat and asked that someone help; they said sure but nobody contacted me. Only after I responded to a mass email addressing that some customers may experience loose parts did I get a response.
I let customer support know my concerns and ask for a remedy. It took 4 days for a response, to which they asked for photos and videos of the issue. Their website wouldn’t allow a video upload and forced me to use google drive.
A week later, they offered an ARMREST to solve all of the issues above and stated that if I wanted a refund I would need to send more photos. I am still waiting for a response, it has been many days. I will update my review when I come to a conclusion.
In summary, when you pay over $700 NZD (Roughly $480 USD) for a product, it should be of substantial quality. This company has no care for customer support, their after sales support is the worst I have ever experienced on earth and they have no phone number to call.
I will tell every single person I know to avoid this company, and recommend you do too. From other similar reviews I know I am not alone, but the constant sponsored reviews wash away real feedback.
Oh and guess what! Do you want a 5 year warranty instead of 3? Post a 5 star review of your chair, because that is the only way you’ll get it.

Tha nail in the coffin though is their absolutely abysmal customer support. I've submitted various messages via email and Facebook over the course of two weeks and haven't received a single reply, I still get plenty of emails from their marketing team.
Hopefully the noise goes away with time or maintenance, but I certainly wouldn't buy one again.

Well built and well-packaged – I would expect better adjustability for a chair at this price point, especially considering that it wouldn't be that hard to implement. I followed the size guide and it fits well. The head rest and lumbar support is good.

wrinkling that can be seen from a quite distance away the wrinkles cover a 25cm x 20cm area on upper portion of the back rest.
Running my hands down the backrest creates a large airgap you can feel and can hear the PU material separating from the foam so it looks like the PU leather material on the backrest is too large.
The fabric material used on the ascents of shoulder and leg sides already had dust before they were out of the sealed bag and should of been cleaned being sealed but not a big issue as it was easy to clean off.
Aside from these issues here are my thoughts on the product in comparison to the older model Omega.
The design of the armrest has been improved both aesthetically with the adjustment buttons being more flush, the quality has also improved with smoother movements when using the adjustments.
The neck pillow and lumbar support is better being in the sweet spot being soft but also firm.
It still uses the same high quality wheels, wheelbase, lift and tilt controls.
Assembly was easy and delivery was fast from NSW to VIC.
Its overall an improvement from the previous version but the issue I have mentioned should of not passed quality control.
I'll update this with photos and about my experience with their support.

to use the headrest without arching my back a ridiculous amount. I am 170cm tall and my feet *only just* sit flat on the floor barefoot. This should be the minimum height recommendation IMO.
I find the chair comfortable (I knew not to expect something squishy) and appreciate the arm rest adjustments and headrest when I'm not using the way-too-thick lumbar cushion. It really sucks that most women won't be tall enough for Secretlab chairs to be comfortable and can't get the integrated lumbar support.
