Sennheiser HD 201

Replacement parts – The headphones have had a heavy "pounding" over many years and the ear pads needed replacement. I Google'd the model number and found they are available from many suppliers. I pad $12 post free. That is why I buy Sennheiser. They were purchased many years ago and in constant use. Show details
Best budget headphones – Use this on a daily basis. Its really convenient as it is light and the cable length is really long that it can easily reach my phone if I leave it in my bag. But it is not the most comfortable headphones ever since the cushion is quite thin. But overall its a good headphone with great sound quality. Show details
Excellent budget headphones! – I use these every day in my job as a transcriptionist and they are super comfortable. I found the cord to be very long compared to other headphones I have used but this doesn't bother me. I occasionally use them to listen to music but am more than happy with the sound quality. Great budget headphones overall! Show details
Good for entry-level headphone – Bought the headphone at JB-Hifi a little over a year ago, no noticeable decreased in performance. It is adjustable, the material itself is plastic but does not feel like a cheap product. The ear cup is comfortable and the cable is sufficiently long. If you are on a budget and need a decent entry-level headphone, this product should not break your bank. Show details
Good for the money – These were brought from a number of years ago and have now started to disintegrate (Rubber on earpads has started to peel). Despite this they still have reasonable sound quality and have been subjected to conditions that are far from ideal over the years. The newer 202 model is about twice the amount I paid for these so will probably try to source the 201 if I can still find it when I come to replace them. Show details
Good value for the sound - let down by thin/fragile wires – Got these on special from Dick Smith for $40.Used them for daily trips on the train , good noise isolation. Crisp sound , nice treble , not too bassy ,good value for the price. Nice fit , plastic head band , ears sweat after 1 hour. Eventually they were let down by the thin wires that went into the earcups and earphone jack. Show details
Good sound but fragile – The sound is good and clean however the speaker is not strongly attached to the rest making it come off. On the bright side, you can hot glue it blank on and it works perfectly. They feel very comfortable as they sit over your ears not on your ears. Very good for extended use. Show details
It's more than what you pay for – You can get these for about $25-$30 on sale, but the saying that you get what you pay for definately didn't apply to these headphones. I find the sound quite clean. The bass is not very strong, but neither is the acoustics, so it has a nice balance. The bass is also not muddy. The headphones sit nicely over my ears, rather than on my ears-… Read more
looking at you Hd202. It's comfortable and I still pick the Hd201 over my hd202 and Sony Bluetooth headphones.
Awesome budget headphones – These are my son's favourite headphones by far, and at $40 they are a good price too. High quality sound and materials at an affordable price. Give them a go, you will be pleased.
Great budget headphones – Bought these headphones for home recording and playback. Great sound quality at a budget price. Over ear phones are comfortable and effective. Very pleased indeed that we bought these headphones. Show details
Low end Headphones – Although the sound quality is ok, these are not as robust as you would hope. Mechanically the way the headphones are held on to the headband is weak and inadequet. Unless you are extremely careful these will break. Disappointing for a respected brand name and certainly not strong enough for teenagers! Show details
Excellent balance of quality & Value! – Recently purchased a pair of these to use on the synthesiser and electric piano at home. Have used professional series Sennheisers for years but needed an everyday pair for home use. They seem to have struck the ideal balance here - obvious Sennheiser quality and sound reproduction re-interpreted for an everyday use and budget without becoming dull. Well done Sennheiser. Would definitely recommend for a quality spin on a home range product.
good sound but not as comfortable as I hoped – I'm not an audiophile - my primary intention for purchasing this product was comfort. While the ear cups are exceptionally comfortable, the headband on the top presses down too much and at times causes a headache. The sound on the other hand is quite good. At times becomes robotic when volume of the video/music gets too high. And I can confirm… Read more
other reviews that sound is not as loud as other headphones - but is more than adequate in a quiet room at home with the PC perhaps not in a crowded mall however. Bass is good but not great. And decent attenuation of ambient noise.
However, for the price of $30, I would recommend it - but would recommend trying it on first to see if it's comfortable first.
P.S. I compared to Altec lansing ahp 5121 headphones - Altec wins hands down. Inexpensive, Good sound, Good ear cups, Long cable Uncomfortable headband, Sound becomes robotic at high volumes, Medium to low volume.

Great Value – Very low price tag, but impressive performance given the price. Lightweight unit, and good sound blocking from the earpads. Good Bass response, massively long cable (great if you want it!). Impedance may mean it needs a bit more grunt from small units like mp3 players to drive it at a decent volume. Earpads too "shallow" for my liking.… Read more
Would have been fantastic if the drivers were supported a bit further from the ear.
Otherwise a great value for money product. Sound quality. Earpads too shallow
For the price you pay, a great buy – If you're just getting interested in sound tech or are looking to enhance your listening experience then these 'phones are the ones to buy! I have found them so great. As a student, I like things that are affordable and that function well! Good bass except at very high levels or on a [censored word removed] mix (a la modern pop) High pass does… Read more
peak occasionally but they were $35 bucks! (jb Hi fi)
But the cord is long..I keep mine tied up with a hair elastic. Good sound quality, sturdy construction, comfortable Some distortion at high levels, upper register peaks
Excellent – Fantastic product and as a result I now own 5 different style and models of Sennheiser earphones because the quality and clarity of sound is amazing Awesome sound and clarity, comfortable fit over the ears and an excellent price approx $40 from Dick Smith The cord is extremely long if you are going to use them with an ipod, but can be overcome by not completely untieing (as they come with tie twist)
