General use replacement – My old headphones died and I went looking for replacement. I use them for internet, and also rough and ready music production and mixing. They are not the greatest, but they give good enough sound for the low price. I wish they would go back to the modular system they used to use.  Show details

Excellent quality – I purchased these 1-2 years ago from jb hi-fi for $100~AUD. Great sound quality, extremely comfortable and fits very well over my ears and head shape. It sports a durable and lightweight build as opposed to other headsets of which I have broken through either dropping or simply picking up (one of them the cup twisted and broke off the plastic… Read more

frame). Since using these headphones again after my broken Logitech g430s we're unusable, they work excellently even for gaming.

The only con I've found of this headset is the cords have a habit of twisting and tangling even on a reasonably stationary desktop environment. Even though these are dated by a few years, I would recommend not only these hd 439s but the she Sennheiser hd series.

Alright but adjustment is loose – They are reasonably good headphones, but have a few niggly problems. Purchased for about $120 AUD three years go at JB HiFi used for general use, recording, playalong practise, usually with drumset. PROS: Decent frequency response and clarity. Robust construction of head unit: the materials and design allow them to be dropped, trod on to… Read more

some degree even, and knocked around a bit without breaking.

Generally comfortable around the head, ears and neck.

Fairly long lead is a real bonus for me. i can walk around doing things while listening to playbacks for example.

Lightweight- perhaps too lightweight though (see below)

CONS

Plastic height adjustment isn't secure enough so they tend to slip easily which then needs a readjustment. Between playing, using mixers or other equipment, or switching them between devices it becomes a bit annoying. They fall off easily, I think it is due to wear over time and wasnt as bad at first. But if I need to reach over to adjust a stand near the floor you can guarantee they'll move or come off

The lead has pulled out a bit just above the jack leaving wire exposed, seems a bit flimsy construction wise around that area, I have carried out a makeshift repair by taping around the exposed area.

overall about 6.5-7/10

Comfortable but – I've used these headphones for about a year and while they're better than any earbuds that phones come with I can't quite say they're "great." The cloth padding is comfortable (although if I wear these for over an hour I feel I need to take a short break from them) and having a detachable cable is really nice but my main gripe with these is their… Read more

audio quality. I don't seem to have gotten the same experience as other reviewers here. When comparing them with some HD 202 mII they sound quite different. The low end doesn't have much presence or definition and what sound is there feels "contained" if I were to describe it. Also own a Sennheiser headset (based off the HD 558) which only exaggerate this feeling.

Other users say they sound great after burn in but I've yet to really experience that yet. While they're not my main pair that I use (that's the headset) they still have had a couple of hours of use each day over the course of a year and still sound the same. If they really do burn in I'd be curious to hear them at their best but at the moment they're not at that stage for me.

Still it's really nice to have a detachable cable and cloth padding is always good. If my pair sounded as good as these other reviews stated they'd be perfect.

Perfect! – Give the cups a few days to adjust and they'll sound heavenly. Nice natural response that would rival >150 headphones. More than I could ask for. The band is very comfortable as are the cups. They look clean and are pleasing. Just a couple of days for the drivers to reach their optimal positions, etc.

Great! Good price, comfortable, good SQ – Bought these HD 439's about 1-2 months ago. Sound quality is fantastic. Sound isolation is decent, and not much sound leaks out either. They sounded a little tinny at first, but they get much better after a a day or two (and better still after a couple of weeks). I noticed that the SQ is greatly affected by the distance of the drivers from your… Read more

ears, and rather than "burn-in", I actually think the improvement is more because the earpads soften up over time, letting the drivers sit a little closer. Either way, the SQ is great, both when gaming and listening to music.

The headphones are very light, and very comfortable. The fit is firm, but the earpads and headband are well cushioned, and the earpieces rotate on 2 axis. The earpads fit nicely around my ears, but may not fit well if you have very big ears. While the headphones don't feel especially sturdy; they don't feel delicate or fragile either. It is also worth noting that despite how they may look in the pictures, the backs of the earpieces are CLOSED.

In the box are 2 detachable cords - 1.4m and 3m. These cords are NOT standard audio cables - one end is a special shape, and will only fit into the headphones (which themselves will only work with the supplied cables). Thanks to the specially shaped fitting, the cords plug very snugly into the headphones, and won't detach accidentally (makes the 1.4m cord very good for mobile use). The cords are not bulky, the plugs are small and fit easily into most mobile devices, and the cords themselves can be replaced if necessary.

Overall, a very nice pair of headphones. Great for entry-level Hi Fi, and very portable as well. Not quite audiophile level, and not as fancy looking as brands like beats, but definitely amazing for the price.

Decent headphones would recommend – The Sennheiser HD 439 headphones have outstanding audio quality and purity, great high and mid range sounds and after burn in delivers a punchy bass that is quite good considering their price. I bought these headphones only for music and I can say that when I first used them the bass quality was not as good as I had anticipated, however as I used… Read more

them more and more and after burn in I can now say that they are one of the best pairs of headphones I have used.

Alot of people were saying that the build quality is not the best and I will agree they aren't built amazingly like Audio Technica headphones but the build quality is still pretty solid for the $90 price tag.

Overall they are Very balanced, Very loud and Very powerful

Sennheiser HD 439 – Awesome headphones. I bought these new HD 439's for mainly music. I went into JB HI FI and went to the headphone panel with the display headphones. After listening to many different models and brands, i chose the HD 439's. They have amazing bass which is awesome for listening to music. The sound quality is unbelievable and stays true even when it… Read more ·  3

is blasting at full volume. I have a MacBook Air and with these headphones running my iTunes and sitting on my desk, they are still louder that the laptops speakers on full volume. You have a choice of two cables. One 1.3 metres and the other 3 metres. They are both detachable. I have no regrets buying these headphones. Having a two year warranty was reassuring. Absolutely amazing. Sound quality is amazing The cable is hard to detach.

Best headphones I've ever bought! – These headphones are very stylish and have a aesthetically pleasing design. They are also better suited to listening to audio, so if your a music lover these headphones are for you. I could only fibd one negative thing about these headphone, that would be that they don't have a mic, so don't buy these headphones unless you already have a mic. Sound quality, inexpensive, durable No mic
