Exactly the same as sam! Since the o-ring is obviously not doing its job and lets in water, will we get a refund or will they re-design and issue us with a replacment?
sharkshield are really professional with warranty and repairs.. new units were shipped to anyone that had a flooded unit.. my replacement unit has performed perfectly for 3 years now and turned away a large great white heading straight for me. the new surf freedom model is ideal for shortboarders as there is no bulky antennae hanging behind.
My post shouldve been on "freedom+surf sharkshield" not the surf7 ! I am waiting for news from sharkshield through the surf shop as to where we go from here. It is under warranty and i expect to hear from them soon.
6 guys in SA bought these pods and all of them are faulty - wire corroded from the battery to the senses and water leaking into battery. Anyone else with problems or was it just a faulty batch?
No problem with my sharkshield 7 except when it took a solid impact and leaked in through the O ring. Sharkshield were approached about a repair but they completely replaced the unit free of charge. Great service from a Company with high values.I am investing in the new model for my shortboard. Wont create any drag and could save my life again.. Another attack in Ballina NSW. Its getting crazy
The Sharkshield 7 is still going strong.. In use about 10 surfs a month of about 2 hours each.. Ive tried to stretch the battery to going flat warning but still cant get close.. Ive had 4 sessions total 7 hours without a recharge on a few occasions.I switch it between my 5 boards each with its own mount plate .The mounts are even removable with care and restick onto a new board with good quality 3M tape.A few buddies have the new light sticker style Sharkshield and like the fact that they don't notice any difference in performance on their shortboards
Yes, I've had 2 shark shields now. 1st replaced under warranty, after some delay. Both corroded after a few surfs. Water leaked into battery. Very poor response from company. No response to emails or phone calls. Thinking shark shield device & company are total shonks
A similar problem the o-ring lets in water and burns out the wires. Surely they designed knowing the power of a wave, i cant tell you how disappointed i am as i believe if not for this it is a great device. They need to fix this it just isnt good enough - or did i get a faulty one? This is the freedom+surf sharkshield - not the freedom surf7.
