Sharp R42CVST
VerifiedMPN: R42CVST5 reviews
Have owned sharp convection microwaves for at least 15years and did all my family cooking, and this new 42l is nothing in comparison to its predecessor. The convection side does not heat to the desired temperature and certainly does not bake like the old models. If you are replacing an older sharp convection, I’m sorry it’s time to look at another brand. Very disappointing Show details
I wish I had seen these reviews before I bought the Sharp R42CV ST. We, like other reviewers were long users, and fans of the Sharp R-990K, we had two of them both fantastic. When our last one began to fail, the microwave function stopped work but it still did the convection part really well. So, we decided to buy another Sharp Convection… Read more
microwave to anticipate the R-990 failing completely. We bought and gave the new R42CV ST a test drive and although we thought the convection cooking took a while the microwaving was fine. Now the old 990 has failed completely and we swapped over to the R-42CV. It microwaves OK but the convection is terrible. It never gets to the correct temperature over 150c. We’ve tested it with oven thermometers and found that despite trying to pre-heat, say to 200c, for over half an hour and beeping to indicate the temperature has been reached it tops out at 150c. We’ve carried out many tests and the result is always the same. I suppose the next step is to make a warranty call. What a shame the R-990 isn’t still available. I will come back give an update on what happens.
Poor build quality – Unit failed completely after only 6 months use in a single person home environment. Poor build quality in that it is a $900 purchase. Asked for and got refund. Show details
Don't waste your money – We have had a long and happy association with Sharp convection microwaves and when our old one finally died we bought the Sharp R42CVST. From day one the convection never reached the required temperature. Sharp sent it to a repairer who wasn't able to fix it and it was finally written off. We replaced it with the same model and were horrified to… Read more
find the convection on this one also failed to heat appropriately. Think we will give up and try another brand.
Appalling - two failed completely in two months – Our wonderful old Sharp R-990K Carousel convection/microwave had been dying for some time, the convection part failed over a year ago but the microwave still worked. We tried a Sharp R995DST but it was a disaster so we struggled on with the old one until it died completely two months ago. Still wanting a large convection microwave, we were left… Read more
with just one real choice, the Sharp R-42CVST.
It's a nice unit, big and multi functional, but...
Exactly four weeks after we got it, it died. It wasn't even being used at the time, having just been used to microwave some food just a few minutes before. When it failed it shorted out the circuit it was on. Oh well, must just be a faulty unit we thought.
The Good Guys in Joondalup were great and replaced it with another without question.
About an hour ago and just 27 days after getting the replacement, it died in exactly the same way - the circuit tripped out and, when reset, the microwave was simply dead. We have had an electrician check the house circuit and he could find no fault, plus it had worked for the previous microwave for years.
To say we are disappointed is an understatement. I'm going to be contacting Sharp tomorrow and raising a formal complaint. I think this thing has a genuine safety issue, an electrical fault, and I'm considering reporting it to the relevant authority.
Needless to say, we'll be getting a replacement again this weekend and it WON'T be a Sharp.
