Unsatisfactory fitted handle. Needs better material in it – Bought it 14th March 2023, $199 at Bunnings, Goulburn. When not in use I keep it on the house verandah. So far I've found the wheelbarrow is good to use and I think the wide wheel is very good. I have only been using it to move firewood and some… Read more
garden compost. The main problem I've found, just like others have reported, is the fitted grip on one of the handles has split. I imagine the other will go the same way soon. On asking for a replacement at Bunnings, I was told they don't have that part for sale and that the ones on display outside will sometimes have split before they are sold. I'm wondering what one can do to replace the fitted grip as I would think the bare handle isn't the best way to go. I'll try taping it wth duct tape to see how that feels. Bunnings needs to ensure the supplier uses better material in the fitted grips and then the handle grips might do as the label (still on the wheelbarrow) states "LASTS LONGER".
Follow-up · The Handle is still there and still split, but the wheelbarrow is OK to use. I can't understand why Bunnings can't supply replacement handles.
Lasted a few years. Now corroded, but cannot get parts - I stand corrected – This Sherlock BU51PBB 100l wheelbarrow bought 5 years ago. Very light usage. Practically none and that is not the issue. After standing outside, the legs have corroded through. I am almost OK with that. However, Bunnings do not carry those legs as spares (I am OK to pay). Sherlock Wheelbarrows do not seem to exist as a company, just Bunnings as a… Read more
contact. Not recommended. Feb24 Update - I was able to get spare parts on special order from Bunnings. So, things are not so bad after all. I have revised my ratings up in the light of the fact one does not have to throw the unit away
Starting falling apart very early – We only bought for home use and within one or two uses each of the rubber hand grips starting tearing in four different places. I would take it back but based on the reviews an exchange seems a complete waste of time. Importantly the wheelbarrow didn't fit in our car so we spent 2 hours wheeling it home from Bunnings so we aren't up to the… Read more
heartache of returning it and looking for a new one elsewhere.
We bought the one with the plastic base and based on only a few uses it seems ok but it is very strange that the hand grips started tearing, at least an inch, in four different places. I would say both hand grips wouldn't last ten uses of the wheelbarrow which is just ridiculous and I am not sure how it is even legal to sell such an obviously faulty product.
I am not sure if it is a cheap wheelbarrow but at close to $200 for a little bit of steel and a lot of plastic I would expect a product that lasted at least 100 uses, if not 1,000 uses. I honestly can't believe Bunnings are selling such rubbish.
I bought the product without googling reviews because I trust Bunnings but never again.
Total Chinese garbage – I have had this Sherlock for about two years and it replaced a good Kelso I had for 15 years. It sis the second Chinese made wheelbarrow I have bought from Bunnings, and like the first, it is absolute cheap garbage. The powder coat started fading within weeks and the rubber hand grips fell apart soon after I brought it home. I cannot believe… Read more
Bunnings still sells this rubbish. But it seems there is no decent alternative. It’s pathetic really. I gave it away.

Expensive and rusty from store – I've had a Stanley wheelbarrow for the past 10 odd years, died of rust and heavy use sitting outside, for a change I bought Sherlock wheelbarrow for $239 from Bunnings, taking it out of ute and just started using, I noticed rust within the first hour of use, come on Sherlock, your wheelbarrows need to be painted better.ive got receipts as proof.

Very poor quality – Bought an 80ltr red gardener's wheelbarrow from Bunnings and the paint started flaking off immediately. These wheelbarrows are not galvanised so they rust right through. Took it back and got a replacement because I thought it was faulty - nope, second one same thing happened. Due to covid restrictions I couldn't take it back for replacement. Three… Read more
years old now, (warranty was two years) and it's rusted through. Has only been used to mix potting mix and soak coconut coir. No metal or poly replacement trays available for the 80ltr models. Will not buy Sherlock brand again.
Sherlock Steel Barrows are a hoax and con and should not be sold in Australia. On my 4th one in 6 years – OK, bought a number of the steel barrows from bunnings. Use it for gardening and they do get scratched. Issue is that a single scratch will rust through in about 9 months. USELESS. RUST RUST RUST. Show details
Broke on the way home – Broke the tray on the way home from Bunnings in the trailer. It’s brittle and not polypropylene as advertised…. Although it only says “poly” maybe it means Polly wants a cracker…. Grrrr Show details
Very average wheelbarrow – Got a new sherlock wheelbarrow from bunnings. first day the wheel assembly fell apart. Had to reassemble properly. Paint is now falling off in huge flakes and the steel is rusting. Obviously was not properly prepared before it was painted. Cheaply made Chinese crap My advice is to Buy a kelso. Show details
“Lasts Longer” branding doesn’t last longer – Purchased the Sherlock 80L wheelbarrow in August 2020 from Bunnings for light to medium use... mostly moving mulch, garden soil etc after only a few weeks of light use rust is visible and the handle grips are perishing and cracking. Absolute waste of money. Would give zero stars if I could. Show details
Terrible wheel barrow – Brought two of these for gardening (spreading mulch & carting fire wood). Noticed within 4 months that the tray had cracked on both with light duties. The other issue is the wheel is to close to the tray so the slighted bit of mud and you can't push it. These were medium duty barrows. Returned them to bunnings for a full refund. Very dissapointing and hence on here looking for better ones Show details
Not powder coated – Bought this Sherlock 80l barrow from Bunnings. It is very poor quality. Stored the barrow under cover. Used to move soil around the garden. After two weeks of use, paint is flaking off the tray to reveal rusted metal tray beneath. Barrow is very wobbly on its feet when loaded with soil. Don't waste your money Show details
poor quality product – We bought this 80 L steel tray Wheelbarrow from Bunnings just over a year ago and the tray is starting to rust. It had a lable stating that the tray is powder coated. It doesn't look like powder coating. It is flaking off. The flakes are less than 1mm thick. A typical powder coating is" between 1.5 - 4mils" It has had light duty around our garden shifting compost and bark chips etc Show details

Very poor – Bought this wheelbarrow from Bunnings a couple of years ago . The powder coating is peeling off in sheets and has faded really badly . Do yourself a favour buy a quality Australian made one , it will last for years . These are made to a very poor standard and just are not worth buying .
A poorly made wheelbarrow. 3 of them – 3rd Sherlock wheelbarrow in 15 months. All trays broke in the same place. Just garbage. Broke front of tray off with General use. Deffinatrly not used badly. Poor quality paint. Show details
Cheap and nasty compared to other brands – Rubber handles lasted only a year and then perished. No prime/undercoat just sprayed with black paint and rusted underneath blistering paint. The poly bucket is not durable but rather brittle. Show details
Strong, Long Lasting – I have two Sherlock heavy duty poly tray wheelbarrows which carry cement, rocks, sand etc. One is 30 years old and the other about 20. Both are in excellent condition. The shock board is solid, wide wheels make moving easy and the wooden handles are far superior than the newer models made from steel. I have placed spring washers under all nuts… Read more
and none have come loose over the years. If you want a wheelbarrow to last a lifetime, look at Kelso, Sherlock or Westmix. Their thick poly trays are superior to steel and each well worth the expense.
Falls apart – I have had 3 of these wheelbarrows usually purchased last minute when required on a job with difficult access etc. All three have fallen apart. These wheelbarrows do not come with spring washers and I have lost bits on muddy jobs or it has vibrated apart on the back of the Ute. Bunnings in waurn ponds refused to have them fixed. The manager said… Read more
"you would service your car, you need to service your wheelbarrow too" I still have one I have made out of all the missing pieces but the plastic under the tray has deteriated and broken the bolts bent from using it when they have come loose (after tightening them with a rattle gun) a weld on one leg is broken, need to re weld today. These are the worst value wheel barrow I have ever purchased. Sherlock lasts longer than fisher price but no other wheelbarrow onsite.
