reliable commuter – I've had it almost 20 years and now trying to decide whether to have it converted to electric or just buy an electric. I rarely ride more than 20k's a day and it's been a great workhorse. (I've never enjoyed up hills whether on foot or on bicycle and I'm getting lazier.) Too long ago for this review to be of any good to anyone unless they're looking 2nd hand, the Shogun Metros go for ever. Love it

Purchased in at Standish Cycles for $495.

Perfect all rounder for $500 – The 5 stars are based on its all round capability and value for money. Just under $500 it comes with decent Shimano gear, excellent brakes, Alexi rims and Tioga parts. So far its clocked 3000 kms in 7 yrs (on and off) of paved and unsealed roads, sun and rain and it sure can take a beating. The regular maintenance is mostly chain lubing and wheel trucing. Handle bar angle, seat height and horizontal seat position is adjustable.
