Perfect home away from home – Best tent I’ve owned, very quick and easy to put up. High quality pegs ,canvas ,tub flooring, flyscreen. First night of use winds in excess of 30kts with heavy rain. The tent felt like sitting in a house , minimal movement and bone dry. The interior space is enourmous and plenty of ventilation with two doors a window and 6 ground level window… Read more
vents all fly screen zipped. Not ideal for walking to far due to weight, but clearly not for the hiking adventure . More for the home away from home camping.
Poor quality/warranty dodgers – TL;DR The tent's not great. They supplied defective product and won't honour the warranty. I purchased the Sibley 600 Twin PRO, connector, and accessories directly from the website in December 2016, all up it cost me just over $2000.00. They claim on their website the product can withstand 80km/h winds, however the connector they supplied… Read more
ripped in half in what was essentially a stiff breeze. I emailed the company about this and it took a week and a reminder email in order to get a response, which, was an email saying I must have broken it because it's impossible for their product to fail, and offering me %15 off the price of a new one. After several return emails, in which I provided photos of the correctly set up tent and the BoM weather stats for the area they still refuse to honour the warranty and I have had to report them to the ACCC and am now awaiting an outcome. The default warranty claim response seems to be "you must of broken it, buy a new one". If they're using the quality of canvas they're claiming to there's no way it should have torn the way it did, so I do wonder about the rest of the tent, and if anything else goes wrong I'm very concerned about what I will be able to do beyond another ACCC consumer report.
As for the rest of the tent.
Good:
It looks great, really good, especially at night when it's lit up from inside.
It's easy to put up, only takes about 30 minutes with two people (including all the guy lines).
Bad:
The floor doesn't zip tight leaving gaps that insects and vermin can enter through. (we've had to set mice traps)
The sides angle down so about a third of your floor space is difficult to use if you're normal height.
The fly screen doesn't zip into the entrance, you just tie it on in points and there are large gaps between tie in points so it doesn't really work at all.
The zips are sewn into the tent with an overlap of material covering them from the outside to try and improve the waterproofing, however, this just makes it very hard to open and close as the overlap continually gets caught in the zip.
The connector only attaches to one end, not the mid tent entrance and they don't sell an awning for that entrance.
The quality of the canvas is dubious at best, as components have torn in normal conditions.
Customer service is terrible, staff will attempt to avoid honouring the warranty.
Summary:
Not sturdy enough or built for real camping or even glamping. You could stick it in your backyard for an event or something but don't buy this with a view to taking it outside a controlled, protected environment. I was in the Army for more than a decade and I know a good tent when I see one, this isn't one, I wouldn't buy this again, or recommend it to my friends.
