We have an E14 error code on our SN26M891AU machine. Run cycle jumps from 0.13 to 0.01 and then terminates at 0.00. Any thoughts?

Stopped going through cycles, not washing at all. Water cold and tablet not dissolving. Dishes dirty. Used 3 different cycles, rest machine and still not washing the dishes. What is wrong with our machine?

mattm
mattm

If the machine is still going through the motions of washing and proceeding through the stages, but isn't heating the water (resulting in the tablet not dissolving and your dishes staying dirty) it's most likely that the thin film heating element built into the heater/pump has failed. If you're mechanically and electrically inclined, you can power down and disconnect the machine from the power supply, remove the machine's cover and disconnect the heater pump. There are three terminals on the heating element (two power lines and a ground) and the resistance across the heating element terminals should be 20.2 ohms. If the resistance is significantly higher than 20 ohms, your heating element is blown, which will require replacement of the heater pump unit. Cost of the part is ~$250 AUD.

I use the quick program only dishwasher. It's been quite a while since I used any other program. A few days ago I used the intensive program with a dishwasher liquid cleaner product. Two days later I selected the quick program for a wash. The knob is at the quick program section but the timer shows the 2 hours 30 minutes of the intensive wash. I have turned the machine off, both using the on/off button & at the electricity outlet, but the problem still occurs. Can you help please?

mattm
mattm

Can you tell us which lights are lit on the panel? You could also turn the machine on and press the AUTO button and see what the timer says. I think 2:40 is the default, though I've set mine to 2:50 by increasing the dry time. Note that Intensive is a toggle, and you press it once to enable it (and turn the corresponding light on) and again to disable it and extinguish the light.

How can I enable the salt reservoir water softening feature on this model? Holding button A and pressing start gives me only the D:01 r:03 and P:01 options. I am expecting to see H:00 as the first option, but I only have the three options I've listed.

Siemens
Siemens   DM

Hi Mattm, Thanks for the question regarding your Siemens dishwasher. When our appliances are imported into Australia the salt softening system is disabled and cannot be activated using the software of the appliance as it is deemed not necessary here. If you need any more help, feel free to contact us on 1300 167 425. Regards, Siemens Home Australia.

That is for the response. That's a shame as Adelaide's water is legendary for its hardness, and commercial detergents and rinse aids in Adelaide give ghastly result, although pricier stuff formulated for our water works very well. Is there a firmware option or DIP switch, or something detailed in a service manual that an intrepid technical person with mechanical and electronic engineering capability could do to enable the water softener feature? Finally, if I have filled the salt reservoir, what's the most practical way to empty it in the event that parts have been removed to prevent the salt reservoir function from being used.

Siemens
Siemens   DM

As far as we are aware and have been told, it is not possible to re-instigate this feature. By all means you can always speak to a local service technician but Siemens will be unable to assist. As for getting rid of the salt already in the appliance scooping out all that you can and then filling it with water and removing the dissolved salt with a sponge or baster or such would be the only recommendation we have. It may take multiple times before the salt is completely removed.

Thank you very much for your informative response.

We have lost our manual we have 0.00 as error could you let us know what is wrong? Thanks Russ.

Siemens
Siemens   DM

Hi Bonsai, Thanks for your question regarding your Siemens SN26M891AU Dishwasher. 0.00 signals the end of a cycle, majority of the error codes start with the letter E. You should be able to clear the this by holding down the start button for 3 seconds, the display will show 0:01 an then start a minute reset of the appliance, when it reaches 0.00 turn the appliance off and on again.

If you have any future queries, please feel free to call us on 1300 167 425 to discuss further.

what does the flashing tap in mid cycle mean?

Siemens
Siemens   DM

Hi Manvinder, Thanks for your question regarding your Siemens SN26M891AU Dishwasher. The tap symbol indicates an issue with the water supply either to or from the appliance, we'd recommend following the steps under the general maintenance section of the appliance user manual to clear any visible blockages.

If this fails to rectify the issue, please feel free to call us on 1300 167 425 to discuss further.

Regards, Siemens Home Australia.

I am not at all happy with the performance of this dishwasher. The dishes rarely come out clean, I often have to rewash items. It often does not disolve Finish Tablets, leaving powder and powerball resedues. It means for me that the dishes are not washed properly. Is there something I am doing wrong? Or should do differently? For the money we paid for this machine, I would expect it to work perfectly. Its only 3 years old now, and the issues showed within the first few months.

Hi Eva I have never had trouble with the quality of the wash. Just the tripping of my power all the time. Siemens have since replaced my dishwasher so fingers crossed I've got a good one. I would call the customer service people and speak to them

Paden
Paden

The problem with these dishwashers is they don't get hot. That is why they don't dissolve the powder, or clean, or even dry your dishes for that matter. The only sane course of action you have availiable to you is to purchase another dishwasher.

As I say in my entry, not only does my Miele dishwasher do the job I expect of it, IT COST $300 less than the siemens

You could look into consumer affairs, but after 3 years I doubt they'll show any interest in helping. You do have rights under consumer law that the item be fit for purpose, and technically the more something costs the longer the warranty expectation becomes. To pursue your rights alone in court will cost more than a new dishwasher.

My earnest advice to you is buy the cheapest you can find that has the particular features you can't do without.

Good Luck

I can tell you that the technician that came to see me suggested that the motors in these machines are not as good as other machines and so they don't beak up the tablets as well as other machines. He suggested only to use liquid or powder in this machine to prolong the life of the motor.

Hi, I am considering buying second hand Siemens SN26T890EU dishwasher.

I could barely find any info about this model. Does anybody know when it has been discontinued? and what the model name meaning? I have found that there is different serial numbers from SN26T890EU/01 to SN26T890EU/18 . and I can't figure out what the numbers after the / means.

I would honestly try and buy new. They come with a 5 year warranty. Mine worked perfectly for 12 months before blowing the heating element every couple of months. We ended up getting a replacement

I have the Siemens SN26E281 AU/50 model and was wondering why all of a sudden the tap keeps popping up on the screen and the dishwasher says E obviously for error. There is nothing wrong with the taps which are turned on. Can anyone help me? It goes through approximately 3 minutes of a wash then into error.

I saw a Siemens Dishwasher SN46M892 and was advised that it has a 4 year warranty as compared to the Miele which only gives 2 years warranty at half the price.

I want to know how the two dish washers compare in performance and have some advice as to which to buy?

Azrek
Azrek

Make sure the Miele is made in Germany and not in Turkey or some other country. That's the only reason I would think it's priced so low. The Siemens comes with a 5 year warranty. If the Miele is really made in Germany, then the two would be very comparable.

Mark
Mark

You may want to check that warranty period carefully. I've got that model, and the warranty card clearly says 2 years only. Of course, you've got your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. The Siemens works beautifully, and is very quiet. I recommend it. I heard that their dishwashers in Germany come out of the same factory as Bosch & Miele. Frankly, if it's a German appliance I go for it.

What is the time for a complete wash cycle the SN26E281AU?

Burmania
Burmania

Hi As with most dishwashers it depends on the wash cycle you choose. The longest is pots & pans at 2hrs 23mins and it goes down from there. The beauty of this dishwasher and it's cycles is you can vary the length of the cycle i.e. using the varying speed option to approx halve each cycle whilst still having the intensity of the wash.

Go for it.

Cheers

Azrek
Azrek

A complete wash cycle is quite long - I think a bit over 2 hours. If I wash a full cycle, I turn it on before I go to bed.

But, I find that the short cycle - about half hour - is good enough.

cc33
cc33

shortest wash time is 33 minutes but i find that most of the time it leaves foam at the base of filter and leave detergent residues at the front of detergent soap holder.
