design fault – Didn't get too far before there was a smell subsequently followed by a bit of a noise, then drum stops spinning. You don't appreciate what you are looking at inside the first time around because what happens is completely left field.. Picture this: belt goes around drum, heads off to motor via guide pulley. Tension held on belt via spring on side… Read more
of motor, simple.
Only, the guide is a plastic "wheel", without a bearing, so it doesn't turn, wherein, under operation, the belt is wearing a groove into the guide until it cuts through the guide and subsequently the belt fails...
Pretty rubbish..
I replaced a couple of pulleys and belts before fashioning a skateboard wheel to act as the guide..
Very surprised to see so many favourable reviews, you could have knocked me over with a feather.....

Large Family Dryer – We have had this for around four years now and had absolutely no problems - it is a reliable and well made machine and much appreciated over the winter months. It has a big drum capacity and can easily tale a full load straight from the washing machine. Reasonably quite when its running and super easy to operate. Happy with it. Show details
Big capacity dryer – This is quite old now but its never let us down for a moment. I really rely on it at this time of the year - if fact it's so reliable its just part of the furniture and I don't give it a seconds thought - it just works. I has a really big capacity and can easily take the whole washing load straight from the machine. Simple controls and a steel drum. Simpsons for reliability - they cant be beaten! Show details
Great Family Dryer – This seems like its always going at our place. It is simple to operate, big and roomy and even the kids know how to work it. We got the 6KG one which means we can get the whole washing load in it in one go if necessary. It is strongly made and was very easy to mount on the wall. I wish I had a vent kit for it because it can get a bit humid in the… Read more
laundry but that's not the dryers fault. We have had no problems with it and I think anyone would be happy with this model
Negative reviews
I hate it – It tumbles one way for a few minutes and then stops and tumbles the other way and repeats the cycle until the end.Constantly starting and stopping uses an enormous amount of wasted energy.Half a load of air dried clothes takes 1 1/2 hours to dry.Avoid it like the plague,it is like Simpson colluded with the power companies to deliberately create a power wasting inefficient machine.A real cin. don't BOTHER only lasted 2 years! – Just randomly stopped. The drum will not turn and the clothes DO SMELL BURNT - don't buy, do your research and maybe get a Gorenje brand from Europe I am now looking for one. Not happy and dont bother with warranty of course that expired. Need more words for review - there you go! Show details
Clothes smells like fish – Invested on a Simpson 6kg Rotary Dryer from Harvey Norman to use during wet and rainy days. We normally go to our local coin operated laudrette to dry our clothes but still prefers to dry our clothes on the line outside. On the 1st dry cycle,my clothes ended up with a strong fishy smell and I could not get the smell off even after a few washing.… Read more
Only a short 40 min cycle and clothes was removed as soon as the cycle finished. We ended up chucking the clothes in the bin. Gave the dryer another try a few weeks after and we noticed the smell within 20 mins of the dry cycle. Contacted Simpson/Electrolux after being referred to them by Harvey Norman where the dryer was purchased from. Technician was sent and could not find any fault at that time and had requested if the dryer could be replaced. I am scared to use the dryer now as I don't want my clothes to smell fishy again. Also a hassle as I need to take a day off work just to wait for the service technician as they do not do weekends and they could not tell you approximately what time they will be at your place (was told that the tecnician will only contact you 30mins beforehand on that day therefore you will need to keep your whole day free). I hope Simpson/Electrolux could look into this issue for working people as no work = no pay and its not our fault that we recieved a faulty dryer. We are waiting for a reply from Simpson regarding our dryer and hopefully it could be fix or replaced. Fingers cross and will update with the result soon.

Good dryer - run it for years – We have had this in continuous service for many years. It is a classic and very simple design that has few moving parts and a time proven lay out. Its large enough to take a whole load in one go and is a necessity in freezing victoria. This model is a good choice Show details
Easy to rebuild and works well – Does what it is intended for and simple enough to repair if your qualified to do so, ours seems to be on constantly and the 10 odd years we've had it I've replaced control switch, drum belt and capacitor the two latter being the main problem with faulty machines . Simple design inside and out, bit thirsty on the power consumption but I only operate it during day when solar panels producing power. Show details
Always Reliable Good Dryer – Simpson make long lived products that are simple and work well. This dryer is exactly like that. Its so simple a child can use it (just a timer and heat switch) yet it always works and probably will for at least ten years.I have mine mounted above the washer. Its big and I can get the whole washing load in it in one go although I like to line dry first if possible. It's simple, reliable and works well. Show details
Greta Little Dryer – I try not to use the dryer too much for economy reasons so I just use it to finish of the line drying. This Simpson is so quick! I find that even 10-15 minutes is all I need to dry the damp out of washing. Its very reliable and gets quite hot on the high setting. It is strongly made and I am overall very happy with it. I have had no problems at in in the past two years. Show details
Reliable Family Dryer – We use this rarely but it makes a big difference on the days we need it. It is super reliable, always works and seems very quick for a dryer. It just has timer and heat settings, no complicated controls and it was easy to mount on the wall. We have had Simpsons products for years and they always seem simple but reliable. I expect this to work for many years. Show details
Perfect & works – Dryer works perfectly well and it is one of best value for money in the market. We had simpson dryer previously that lasted for well over 10 years. It does not work too well on bulk bed sheet or quilt cover, however, other clothing items are totally fine. It has been over a year and works well still. Show details

The best drier – This is the best I have my cloths done with in 45 mins I also use it as a heater and my power bill never goes over 390 dollars I would recommend this one for every one it is easy to clean and its not that loud my kids stay fast asleep when its on Show details
Easy to use and good size – This is a basic dryer, has 2 settings, either light or full heat and the time you want it on! It has air vents front and back and built in lint filter with is easy to clean. This model is 6kg so good for our family for 4. We find it is pretty quiet and does a good job at drying clothes. Makes life so much easier – I have had bad luck with dryers but this one has been amazing it was the first one I had attached to the wall and it is so I have better my laundry feels 10 times bigger then before! Easy to use! Simple! Comes with all instructions to put on wall! Amazing also came with 6 years warranty! Show details
Useful For Wet Weather – Have to admit to not using the dryer very much, as I prefer to dry my clothes outside on the line. This is an easy machine to use and the machine can be used with a front or rear vent. The controls are simple and straightforward, and so far I'm happy with it. Show details
Clothes smell burnt after drying – Have used dryer approx. 5 times, so far after each dry the clothes have a burnt smell. They have not burned, just a smell as if been near an open campfire. I hope this goes away quickly, as I am giving it the benefit of the doubt that it's new and needs a few uses to eliminate factory production odours. Stay tuned..... Show details

Simpson 4kg eziloader – I bought this machine very recently and it takes at least one and half hour to dry half load! Now I don't know what to do it's costing me a fortune in electricity. Very dissapointed ! – Our Simpson 6kg dryer isn't even 3 years old and when I close the door on it and turn it on, it sometimes doesn't spin or takes forever for it to spin around. I am not terribly impressed. Can't believe what our landfill is going to be like in years to come with so many inferior products out there !

Shocking: broke down exactly 2 years since purchase – In a fortnight it will be 2 years since we purchased our Simpson 6kg dryer. I can't believe it's broken down and requires repair already! Our last dryer we used for 6 years and I thought that wasn't long enough. This one takes the cake. So if you have money to burn and are happy to pay for a new dryer ever couple of years then deffinitely pick… Read more
this one. We don't, and unfortunately in a household with 3 small children and loads of washing done several times a week I loved the convenience of my dryer, especially in the wet winter months. I'm so disappointed we have to pay almost 50% of the purchase price to get it fixed and we haven't even had it for 2 years yet.

Further explanation appears needed – In response the Hushmars' comment on my earlier review. The changing of the bracket which Simpson has done has not improved the dryer, the ease of mounting, or the quality of the mounting brackets. The moving of the ducting port from the left side of the dryer to the right has not improved the performance and function of the dryer in any way. Both… Read more
changes are changes for changes sake. Your appear to believe the changes have seen the dryer improved in some way. Research will show this is not the case.
Parallels can be made with the change by Apple with their charge/accessory port which overnight made billions of accessories obsolete however Apple were able to say that the new system was an improvement with faster data exchange and charge times. Again, Simpson make no such claims.
So the point. When you buy a new white good appliance you expect it to work with the existing fittings. In this instance that is not the case. The installation requires major structural work that costs approximately 300% the cost of the dryer. You don't invest this money expecting to have to do it every time the dryer requires replacing.
Simpson 6KG dryer - clothes smell like they are burnt – Our dryer is less than a year old and 1 month back, the clothes started smelling like they are all burnt when they came out of the dryer. We have checked everything, always clean the lint trap, and have found nothing wrong, and the smell is getting stronger with each use. Although our clothes are actually not burnt, we are afraid of using the dryer anymore. If someone from customercare can help, we would be really grateful.

No fancy features......Excellent! – Have only had this dryer for a week but I really like it. It's easy to operate - warm or hot, and a timer. No electronics, no sensor....just plain and simple. The lint filter is easily accessed for cleaning and the drum is BIG. I like that the front vent grill can be turned pointing the air towards my back door, and the drum rotation changes… Read more
direction stopping the clothes from tangling. The template for bracket placement on the wall is a great idea. It came with a 12months repair warranty and I bought a 4 year replacement warranty from the store (only $69). My last dryer (Hoover) lasted 39 years so here's hoping this one does the same!
Reliable, basic machine. Happy – I got this machine as a replacement for an electrolux sensor dryer that nearly burned down our house on the first use (I know they share a parent company). After the near fire I thought going basic would be best. This one has been running for over six months with no problems. It took a few loads to figure out how long to set the timer for, and I… Read more
have found that I leave the temp set at "half sun", but after that it was as good as a sensor dryer. Good large drum stops cloths getting creased.
faulty at first run – open up and turned on timer stop at 150 min go no more still ran and work but timer stuffed an a warning sticker saying don't turn backwards as it will damage timer well don't turn forward ever went back to good guys and got a fisher pike auto sensor much better quality and only $20.00 more
A horrible smell – I bought my dryer 2 years ago and in the last six months it has started to omit a horrible smell, like child's vomit. I've cleaned the filters and the inside, the vents are clear but it's getting worse. It's working fine otherwise but is unusable due to this problem. Clothes and towels that come out of it smell repulsive and have to be re-washed. when I contacted Simpson they told me I'd need to pay over $100 to have someone look at it.

Fault with Simpson 6kg Clothes Dryer 39S600M – Worst customer service ever. I first call Harvey Norman and they say deal with Simpson direct. I then call 131349 and advised the only way I would get any help was to contact my states Consumer Affairs Office...so that is what I will do. Our dryer has had very little use. Same as another post I read... drum to front interface is chipped and… Read more
resulted in destroyed clothes. The white part has cracks and a bit has chipped away. Is this a design fault. Is this dangerous fault...Is the machine overheating and the plastic gets hot then cold to a point it gets brittle.....
This dryer was purchased from Harvey Norman Greensborough on 14/6/2010 with extended 4 year warranty - this store closed down recently.

Build Quality not good – I liked the simplicity of this dryer and owned one for 3 years. Then I found that it was difficult to press the button to start the cycle and then the belt went out. I replaced the belt then 2 months later the motor blew out. As it was a cheap dryer I thought for the price and the time it was ok so bought another. This one has lasted only one year… Read more
and the drum to front interface is chipped and resulted in destroyed clothes and a broken belt. The design could be better and the build defects are probably why there are quite a few bad ones about. Other wise if you get one without a defect it should be ok, if you are lucky to get it.

Very good dryer – The only 2 things that Electrolux that need significant improvement is a better built and cheaper replacement heating element because they always burn out after 3-4 years later secondly the lint filter location it is virtually impossible to get a vacuum cleaner to get the fine dirt particles from the lint housing unless a catcher with a door is… Read more
installed on the bottom of the lint housing. Reliable, energy efficient Heating element was poorly made hence the thin coils that's why they burn out
Disappointed – Great filter system can't believe how much sand it finds but very disappointed with it over all. I've only ever had it fully dry my clothes on the half sun (which I presume is normal) heat setting a few times. And this doesn't seem to vary whether it's a full load or a half load. Almost every load I put through on half sun, even if I use the… Read more
maximum time setting, leaves some clothes damp. I don't like using the full sun setting for everyday wearing clothes as I find the heat makes them wear faster. I'm not sure if it's because there are only 2 tumble bars so the clothes don't mix as well as my last Simpson dryer or if the heat in this new dryer is just not evenly dispersed. Filter Doesn't dry my clothes

Good basic dryer that does what it needs to – We purchased this after our electronic dryer just died with no warning. I wanted a basic dryer with no fancy options as these are just one more thing that can go wrong. This dryer is efficient, spacious and value for money. footprint than our previous dryer.
The dryer reverses the spinning during the cycle to prevent tangling and to get air around the clothes better. Good basic dryer Nothing yet
Works, but only briefly! – Just like the previous reviewer I also purchased this dryer 2 years and 20 days ago and it has now died and no longer works (motor blow out I suspect). I contacted customer support and despite the fact that on the simpson.com.au website where is clearly states dryers have a 2 year warranty (I have proof of this in their warranty section), whilst… Read more
they admitted it was a "mistake" and was "uploaded in error" they refused to acknowledge it and insist their dryers carry a 1 year warranty, which in itself is completely ridiculous, but going by mine and others reviews on here its obvious their dryers don't last longer than 2 years.
So today I have been out and purchased another dryer (with a longer manufacturer warranty) , and no its not a Simpson and never will be again. Worked, ever so briefly terrible lifespan, poor warranty
Simpson Ezi loader 6KG dryer – I purchased a Simpson 6 KG dryer less than 2 years ago, after my last dryer stopped working after 12 years of good service. expected to last a minimum of 10 years can only come with a 12 month warranty. I purchased this dryer on the basis of a review and I've been happy with it's performance to date I'm just unhappy with the fact that I'm now forced to get a new dryer. It dried well while it worked It stopped working less than 2 years from purchase for no apparent reason
