Is it really that bad? – I don't have one of these Simpsons but was looking at buying 1 2nd hand and I needed to find out it's dimensions so I googled it and this review site came up and since it had given it 1.3 out of 5 and the page underneath I could see said theyd given it 4.2 out of 5 so I clicked on to see what the go was and the first 4/5 reviews were great 5 star… Read more

reviews but then they changed to not so great reviews 1 out of 5 stars n all that problem. Is and I didn't read them.all but a lot of these 1/5 star reviews started off by saying Ive had this machine for 7yrs 8yrs 6yrs now surely if you've purchased a machine 7 or 8 years ago and U still have it and it's still working surely it's gotta be a 3/5 at least? There's people saying it doesn't clean their clothes properly but they've had it for 7yrs ? So you've been walking around with half clean clothes for 7years? Also what powder U using and what cycle U putting on? Quick wash with home brand powder ? Have.u bought new clothes in those 7years or U pulling out a t-shirt n shorts U got from Kmart the same day U got ya washing machine and ya looking at them like geez it's not getting the whites white and.the brights bright like it's did back in 2014. Now I'm. Not saying it's good or bad coz I don't have 1 but it I had a girlfriend that lasted 7 years she'd be getting 5/5 stars 4/5 if she did the dirty with me best mate coz things don't last like they used to so the things that do deserve so credit!

The Old Work Horse – I believe all these bad reviews have been written by professional trolls working for somebody other than Simpson. This is the third Simpson I've had, and ALL of them were second hand. By the time the second one was cannibalised for parts it was 40 years old. Dreadful just dreadful – Doesn't wash cloths! They come out covered in lint, hair and detergent marks, as if not rinsed. Have tried different detergents. Worst machine ever. Cutting loses. Going to the dump.

Horrible, have had problems with it from the time it was about 18months old – Washing standard clothing, nothing heavily soiled or bulky items. Family of 3, washed every 3 days or so. The size was wonderful, could do whole basket at once. However within 18 months it started having balance problems. Sometimes it would complete a cycle no worries, most times I'd have to rearrange the load 2-3 times for it to finish. It got… Read more

worse after 3.5 years it wouldn't complete a cycle at all, no matter how big or small the load was.

The cold inlet valve also stopped working and I had to use the hot water inlet and just set it to hot water wash (but using cold water)

I've now replaced it and will never buy a Simpson washing machine again

Amazing Clothes Dirtier And Health Destroying Machine – This waste of space is exactly the opposite of what it is advertised to do and is a dangerous health hazard. Completely incompatible with detergent, which is needed to clean fabric, this machine does not wash, it soils clothes. It rinses out the incompatible detergent equally effectively, ie. not at all which leads to hazardous skin infections… Read more

which are near impossible to reverse and leave permanent scarring both physical and emotional.

Vote with your money - never buy Simpson, Electrolux, Beam, Castor, Chef, Frigidaire, Zoppas, Dishlex, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, Gibson, King, Volta, Therma, Tornado, Gafa, Somela and even more.

To be specific, no matter what I try to wash or what detergent I use, they result is scum all over everything. After a while, my skin reacted to the equally disturbing inability of this machine to rinse the items. Following the manufacturer's directions to use hot water regularly to get rid of the residue they know is prolific with this range of machines ruins your clothes - all my socks, tee-shirts and under-garments (hundreds of dollars worth) are destroyed by being stretched completely out of shape and worn thread-bare by adhering to their directions.

Others' mention fires and electrical problems with the mother board. Count me in if there's a group action against this company because of this product.

Please vote with your wallet in the mean time - never buy these brands. "Thank you for reaching out to electrolux" is the lip service this company offers as "Help"!. Wow, fank you too

Simson been working perfectly - now has problem – Simpson EZI MODEL SWT902SA OLDER - so it has switches instead of a digital panel. Great!! PNC 913041008 00 top loader 9kg N1100. Been an excellent machine for years. Yesterday it stopped soon into a wash cycle. Was on Delicates cycle and cold water… which is a setting used for years. Was a very full load. Now when starting up all lights come… Read more

on and all looks normal - ready to go - BUT 3 water temp lights all rapid flashing plus 5 beeps.

Barrel all moving easy and fine. The whole thing looks good except for the flashing lights and beeping. There have been no changes made to machine in any way prior to this suddenly happening.

ALL THE FOLLOWING ATTEMPTS TO FIX PRODUCED NO CHANGE.

Turned it all off and on several times Pulled it out from wall to check back area. Seems fine. No water. No kinks. I redistributed the wash load in case out of balance. I removed all clothes and put on spin. No draining occurred. I tried on Normal and - Drain and spin. Tried it set on hot water. The lid shuts OK. There is no light on lid lock The hose is not kinked or blocked. Water went in and I just drained water manually through hose. I checked the hole where the lid slots in. Pressed with a screw driver and noting is stuck. When pressed - a piece moves over which I assume is what occurs at the point the door locks itself. Got a bit of dust out and sprayed a bit of WD40. But that bit of mechanics seems OK.

Would love to fix it. Such a good machine and I love Simpson. Am trying to avoid getting a digital panel machine. later note . I FIXED IT. GOT IN MECHANIC. HE SAID IT WAS THE LID SENSOR BUT THEY NO LONGER MADE THAT PART SO HE WAS OFF OUT THE DOOR. I ASKED HIM FOR THE EXACT PART NUMBER. I THEN RANG A NEARBY SPARE PARTS SUPPLIER WITHIN 5 MINS OF HIM LEAVING. THEY POSTED IT FAST TO ME. I CALED BACK THE MECHANIC - GAVE HIM THE PART. HE FITTED IT AND MY MACHINE LIVES TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY. BEEN WORKING PERFECTLY SINCE and its now July 2024

Bought second hand 5 years ago, still going strong and easy repairs thus far – Bought this second hand in 2015 when pregnant and it’s been doing great for the entire time. Only recurring issue are the small socks/undies going out and getting stuck in the outlet from bowl to drain hose, I finally started using wash bags and no longer get that issue. The cold water inlet valve has just gone on me, so I’m running the cold… Read more

water through hot water inlet until I can get a replacement delivered. I really like how easy it is to get the back off to access components. This machine has been moved several times and there is some surface rust around where paint has chipped.

Obviously the machine is super old now so I’m not worried about voiding any warranties but I appreciate that it allows the opportunity for DIY repairs. I do a hot wash monthly with bicarbonate soda soak to clean, also use vinegar in with towel washes so they stay fluffy and no spotting or marks on clothes. I am no looking forward to when it finally bites the dust and I have to get a machine I won’t be able to fix myself.

Great practical machine – We have had this machine for many years now. It is practical and easy to use. The control panel is intuitive and looks good. Although it is slightly noisy, it washes very well. I am not sure why all these other folk are having such difficulty. It hasn't wreaked any clothes and washes cleanly, even when using laundry powder rather than liquid. It's… Read more

cold water inlet valve has finally failed but it has been easy to access and replace the part for minimal cost. Tiny rust spots have developed around the edge of the cabinet where it meets the plastic over the years, but this seems to be a pretty standard issue with most top loaders. The metal in the cabinet could be a bit more sturdy. Overall a great practical workhorse.

Absolute waste of money would rather clean my clothes in my toilet – After owning this machine and washing my clothes I realised my clothes were covered in dog hair and this is very concerning considering I don’t own a dog. I would trade this loud obnoxious water wasting piece of rust for a cockatoo with no wings that constantly abuses me for no reason. rinse/spin cycle.

Always use deep rinse setting and manually adjust water height. Auto setting is useless.

Machine takes forever to fill up with a full load is noisy, and the 55min cycle seems like an eternity.

The only reason I've given it 3 stars is that it's never broken down or malfunctioned on me!

It just won't die! It's very well made...mine is anyway.

When it does go to the dearly departed in the sky, i will be purchasing a front loader. Much more quite and energy efficient.

Needed it in a bind, now Im worse off. 2.5 rating as the stars don't seem to be adjustable – Bought this machine recently second hand in mint condition from original owner for a good price. The price and condition seemed to good to be true, to be truthful as I believe a review should be objective as opposed to subjective, It worked a dime for a while, It made a racket though and it sounded like the drum was going to burst out the back,… Read more

It didnt it was absolutely fine in that regard as I am not bothered by a washing machine being a little loud sometimes, just shut the laundry and let it do its thing, The first issue arose after a month, it seemed clothes weren't being washed properly despite using the correct detergent and amounts so I had to rerun numerous loads, which was an inconvenience and more water/electricity/wear and tear on the clothing also. I never ran a full capacity load I would just do more frequent smaller ones, as the machine is very efficient with water.I came to the conclusion that maybe I should give it a deep clean monthly which I did. I cleaned it thoroughly with a hot wash high water full cycle with vinegar and bicarb every month, This didn't resolve the clothes not being cleaned correctly but it didn't hurt and it is good to clean the lines out. It did quieten the machine a little. The next issue happened a few months later and at first it was intermittent, Then after a month totally done the lid lock light would come on and the machine would not progress. I am now stuck in a bind as I have no way to wash clothes and on a pension with no car, however all in all

Pros: Easy to use, really good on water, many load options and the dials and board very easy to read and felt solid, The machine is also a good size, it can meet the demands of all small households and a few larger ones. It being 6kg and easy to fit into places is also a plus.

Cons: Noisy but can be less noisy if maintained properly. It was quite rough on a lot of clothes caused quite a few rips and tears. At times some of the clothes in the load would be not properly washed and have marks on them. The lid lock issue is the achilles heel of these machines, as I have discovered personally and reading into it I am one of many who has had this happen.

Worst Washing Machine ever!!! – When purchasing this washing machine, we were told it was a good machine by the salesperson and so we bought it on his recommendation...I was very quick to regret this purchase! load which is such a waste of water!

I too have found that my clothes have worn out more quickly.

As for the noise of the machine...it is soo loud and the beeping at the end of the cycle is ear piercingly loud, just awful.

Now just to add to my frustrations, the power board is acting up, so now there are no lights showing the water level or choice of wash. As soon as I turn on the machine, it lights up as 19 mins on a rinse cycle !!! I can't change it either by turning the machine off or on again or unplugging it!.....I think it is DEAD...

In total, this has been 4 years of frustration. Sure I thought about having a Tech come and take a look, but by the time you spend more money on a call out, then any parts that may be needed. It is often cheaper to buy a new one!

So now this is my dilemma.. Need to buy a new washing machine. One thing is certain, I will NOT BE BUYING A SIMPSON!

Off to the tip it goes along with all the other Simpson Washing machines out there!

Note: Over 300 people have taken the time to review Simpson and 4 models of their washing machines and have given damning reviews.

Simpson (Electroluxx) give a generic Customer Service reply that infuriates everyone. If these machines were cars, they would have a total recall as there are many known problems including lint covered semi clean clothes. Just not good enough.
