Dies just out of warranty – Light use by careful pensioner. Worked well however not even 3yrs old and appears to have failed drive to agitator. Am told likely gearbox failure. Seems to have many other points of failure so not worth spending money on repairs. Last Simpson lasted over 10yrs. They came to the party on warranty repair so back up and running. Show details

Amazing little macchine – I am a single. I wash most items on 'delicates' cycle in cold water. I cannot fault my long-lasting machine which follows a prior with just as enthusiastic a review. Show details

Terrible machine that lasted just 4 years. Will never buy Simpson again! – Bought this machine 4 years ago after having Simpson machines for years. On spin cycle it was making a noise like an aeroplane taking off. Got technician out and he said bearings had gone and approx. $400 to fix. Not worth it. Now looking for good machine that is not a Simpson. Seems like this batch of machines were lemons judging by review on this site. Very disappointing that a machine only lasts this long. Show details

Simple to use – My mother and I both have this machine. It’s a great size for smaller laundry’s and has an eco setting, which I mostly use. You can stop it in when it starts to throw something extra in and your softener can go in at the beginning. I find it really easy to clean and amazing how my dirty works clothes come out so clean. You usually don’t buy many washing machines in a lifetime, I hope this ones lasts me out. I love it a

Perfect size – I moved out of home roughly 6 months ago just bought a cheap one until I saved enough for a decent one. I was tossing up between the 6.5kg and a bigger one. I live by myself so I just went with the 6.5kg. So many different washes to choose from. Only thing you have to remember to clean the lint catcher every wash  Show details

Poor product – This is with out a doubt the worst washing machine I have ever owned. It's also the first new machine I have been able to purchase. So a double disappointment. Our clothing is always covered in lint. It doesn't matter what I do. The lint basket and entire filter plug up with fabric softener constantly. I spend an absurd amount of time cleaning… Read more

out the filter and actually found the issue resolved slightly when I removed the basket. Lint and what appears to be fabric softener gunk seems to get stuck under the agitater then comes out during the next cycle. Clothes often come out sprayed in fabric softener and need to be rewashed. I struggle with this machine for nearly two years and will be replacing it used one shortly.

Poor quality – Bought this machine 3 years ago and worked well until the bearing gave way. Spin cycle sounded like a jut plane was about to take off. Luckily I took out the extended warranty. Would not recommend this washing machine, seems like many on this site have experienced lots of issues. Show details

Mould problem – Ive had this washing machine for about 3 & half years now its putting black mould like substance on my clothes. I dont use fabric softner & mix my detergent with water before putting it in the machine. I also do regular tub cleaning and leave the lid up to air and dry the machine. I absolutely never leave wet clothes in it. Anyone else have this problem? Show details

Didnt last long – The machine was fine for just over 3 years, washing 2-3 times a week. Only issues was that washing times were long but I thought that was due to its washing size. After 3.5 years it started making loud noises when spinning and an independent technician looked at it. He said the seal at the bottom of the tub was broken and it has rusted up the gear and bearings and not worth fixing. So not using this brand again. Show details

Proceed with caution – I'm not sure about this machine. When I put it on delicates it wasn't delicate at all. It washed like a regular wash. Sometimes it beeps like the lid is up but even after moving the wet clothes around, I could not get it to continue. I had to switch it off at power point and start the load of washing again. I've only had it about a year. Show details

Ruined towels, sheets and clothes, and caused a flood – I bought the Simpson Eziset 6.5kg top loader washing machine in December 2015, and have done two to three small loads of washing each week with it. Since purchase, this machine has progressively worn out my towels and sheets. It has transferred lint to all of my clothes despite my cleaning the lint filter every week, and even replacing the filter… Read more

multiple times. In July 2019, just 3.5 years after purchase, the machine malfunctioned during an regular wash cycle and flooded three rooms of my house, which damaged my hardwood timber floor. My floor now needs to be repaired. The machine has been assessed under an extended warranty service as having a major fault and needs to be replaced. The machine had a two-year manufacturers warranty, which I don't believe to be satisfactory even for a budget level machine (a budget washing machine should last minimum five years without a major fault). I expect I would have had an awfully hard time fighting to receive a refund for the faulty machine despite the fact that it failed to meet the Australian Consumer Law standard of being of an "acceptable quality" based on lack of durability. I firmly believe that whitegoods (even budget level products) should last longer than 3.5 years. Manufacturers are failing consumers by producing poor quality products that break down just outside the manufacturer warranty period in order to avoid their obligations to consumers under the Australian Consumer Law. It reassures me that in 2019 the ACCC is focusing on consumer guarantees and anti-competitive practices by manufacturers and retailers of electrical appliances and whitegoods, and I eagerly await the outcome of their work this year. https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/accc-2019-focus-on-consumer-guarantees-and-anti-competitive-practices Needless to say I will not be buying products manufactured by Electrolux again, and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Avoid this machine – I am happy with the washing of this machine, however, it has a tendency to show that the lid is not closed (402) with an error message (when lid is closed) and machine has rust around the outside metal joining the body to the top. This doesn't impact performance but is indicative of really poor product quality I believe. It has plastic inside… Read more

the machine across top of the tub which has eroded and catches on the clothes when I remove them, causing snags. I would not recommend anyone to buy this machine or one in the series...I could not get service a few months after 2 year warranty for these issues without paying what I regard as a high call out fee and so, very disappointed. Machine is 2 years and 5 months old I believe. Simpson said they had never heard of these problems (particularly the eroded plastic) however, they wanted to charge a call out fee for what I believe is actually a defective product. Washing machines should not have a rusting body. I do not live near the sea!

Cycle times are fine, rinsing is fine. Just rust and plastic breakdown seems really unbleivable at a 2 and half year mark for a washing machine. I will never buy another Simpson washing machine, thought they were reliable. Not my experience.

THROW AWAY PRODUCT – Seems to be a common issue with this machine. Purchased new machine (5.5kg) in 2011 and thankfully took out the extended warranty. Machine had to be replaced in 2015. Replacement machine was than put into storage for 14 months and has only been used for 3 years. Seems to be a common fault that Simpson are not prepared to admit. Controls… Read more

started flashing and beeping when the lid is put down and you can't change any of the settings. Lift the lid and you can change the settings, it stops flashing and beeping, put the lid down and it again flashes and beeps. Cost to repair $380 + labour. I contacted Customer Service but all I got was that there is only 2 year warranty on item. Thought they may have covered because it does appear to be a known fault. Live and learn, never again.

Didnt last long – This has been a good machine , but after 4 years the digital display started flashing and did not work anymore. Repair estimate about $300. Im very disappointed, Ive always bought Simpson washers. The last one with manual controls lasted 20 years. I used it for general washing, nothing excessive. Show details

Works well for a time!! – Worked well over the warranty period, if you look at the questions on this site, there seems to be a faulty batch of machines where they scream to a halt and it seems to be electronic in nature. I have overseas visitors coming in the next few days and I want to offer them washing facilities so I'm forced to get it fixed. I hope it's a better price… Read more

than one person who had a quote of $450 to repair theirs. So they are ok when they work, just don't rely on them. Undependable.

Edit: Just checked with a repair company and was told that this is a common problem with the Thailand built Simpsons and it was likely the main board - $300-400 to repair, about two thirds of the purchase price of $590. While looking for information I have seen this machine advertised as a clearance sale item, I'm not surprised. I'd think twice about buying this machine.

Not built to last – Machine is only 38 months old. I only wash for myself and one child, so it certainly hasn’t been over used. it’s bedn looked after, clean the lint filter after every load. Always done a tub cleaning cycle on it regularly. Machine has decided to flash and beep all control buttons on the panel while the lid is down and cycle has been selected.… Read more

Lift the lid and it stops and correct cycle time displays. Put the lid down and the beeping starts again. There are already posts on here for this problem as well as a stack more when you google it- looks like a design fault that Simpson are not acknowleding. Definitely wouldn’t purchase another after this experience.

UPDATE Upon posting this I got the option to have Simpson contact me to resolve the issue before I published it. Okay, I thought I’d give them the benefit of trying to rectify this and show show customer support. How wrong! I replied to their email on 4 Feb with the reference number if been given. No reply back. 48 hours later. I email again. No reply back. So I call the ‘customer care centre’ on 6 Feb On hold 28 minutes. Spoke to someone who was going to ‘speak to her manager when she returned to her desk’ and contact me back. That was 9.15 Wednesday morning 6 Feb It’s now nearly midnight Thursday. Nothing. So it appears their ‘customer care’ is as poorly working as their machines. Very disappointing Simpson.

ANOTHER UPDATE 14 Feb. I get a call. I’m at work and can’t talk. The lady said oh well we called you on 4 Feb and you didn’t answer. ( double checking diary I see I called them on 6th ) I said- well it’s now the 14th!! And I can’t talk . Could you call me back please? She said well if I don’t call you- you call me back. Wow!!! This is just AMAZING service. Sure I’ll call you from the laundromat I’ve been parked at for the past 2 weeks since your machine with a fault that has been reported on this ( and other sites) sits idly in my laundry!!

Having a fault with a machine is one thing. And these things happen. Everything could have been worked out if the customer service team were doing some sort of job. Absolutely disgraceful Simpson. And I’ll let everyone I ever meet know.

Good Basic Washing Machine – Does what it says. Minimal controls. I just need a washing machine that washes - bells and whistles not needed. Perfect for my requirements. Seems to take a long time to complete wash - over an hour - but maybe all washing machines are like that. I put anything and everything in this machine - although not together!  Show details

Terrible program – I have had several previous Simpson washing machines and always happy with them. This machine however seems to have a nonsensical program. this can't be right for a top loader. My previous Simpson machine took less than 40 minutes. Even the "Fast Wash" takes 45 minutes and with all the stop start, stop start, it only washes for a very short time and only one minute rinse. Also, you can't change the program at all after starting it. You can't decide to give a larger wash or a larger rinse etc. I gave feedback to Simpson and their warranty department contacted me to say it is working correctly. They didn't want to listen to my disappointment in their programming. So it isn't going to change. It seems whoever did the programming for this machine hates top loaders and wants it to take the same amount of time as a front loader. It seems to wash OK, but I have noticed my clothes wearing out much faster.

Love doing washing – The name says it all, it’s very easy to use. Lots of settings but still so simple. I love how quick it washes it when I need a quick wash. Not too bad! – Cleans really well without ruining the clothes. My husband and I work pretty dusty and oily area and our work clothes are cleaned nicely by this brand without a worry. which is frustrating if you want to change to cold for rinsing. Another irritating thing is the beep that tells you the washing has finished...it keeps beeping at intervals until you turn it off, meaning you can't put it on before bed (given the loudness of spin as well). The other thing I noticed is that auto water level is not always correct and it does tend to unbalance quite a bit with blankets.
