Fragile machine - broken after 3 months – Purchased in May '18 and broken by August '18. Developed some alarming clunking noises during wash cycle which then turned into a high pitched screech like the sound of stripped gears. Called up service centre and were advised no service available for 4 days and only could come on a day where we are not home. Now have to wait a week and expect… Read more
that it will be weeks before actual repair can occur so we are family of 5 without washing machine (once again after similar issue with the previous Fisher and Paykal back in May). Sadly it seems there are no longer any decent appliances we can purchase that last. Expect we will also now have to buy another machine as a spare because I cannot even rent a machine for short term. Absolutely fed up with the terrible quality we all now have to put up with.
Worst machine and an even worse customer service. Machine motor broke down after 4 years of normal use and their Electrolux customer service has been greatly unhelpful. They keep asking the same questions, lose photos and videos you send them and the customer service representative is dismissive and rude. They stop replying to emails as well. Do not recommend - avoid Electrolux and Simpsons if you value quality and customer service. Show details
Don't do it – This machine is VERY noisy, we stuck with Simpson as our last one lasted almost 20 years. The active wash function is terrible for water hammer in the pipes. Have had this one a couple of years and now leaking water as it has a split rinse hose. Only positive is the amount of clothes I can fit in a wash. Won't be buying another Simpson.

Absolute Rubbish. Only 3 years of use and its off to the tip. Shame on you Simpson – We purchased this washing machine in good faith, may 2020 as our two previous simpson washing machines lasted 14 years each. We have a surge protector fitted to the outlet and wash a few loads each week. We started getting a sandy grit type material through our wash after about two years of use. We'd wash the load again and it was better, but… Read more
would need to be shaken out to get rid of it. That seemed to settle down after a while. Just recently an E50 code came up and upon turning it off and restarting it the code came back, again and again. "Motor or computer board fault" said the manual and online forums. I thought i would take out the agitater to see if anything was jammed under there, but when I removed it, I saw where all that grit was coming from. The alloy housing under the agitater was completely corroded and falling apart. And this started after only TWO years of use. Too expensive to repair so unfortunately after just 3 years, it's headed for the metal recyclers.
Shame on you Simpson for manufacturing such a piece of garbage. Simpson don't sell washing machines any more, but Westinghouse now sell exactly the same machine except its dark grey in colour. So don't be fooled, it's the same rubbish machine with a different name and colour. Buyers beware... Shame, shame, shame, Simpson.
Built not to last – We bought a 8 kg Simpson toploader washing machine. Washed Ok for the first year, then started to get imbalance problems and with the control panel. It finally stopped working shortly afterwards. A repair man was sent out to repair under warranty. The machine became increasingly imbalanced again. Just after 3 years, the machine sounds like a… Read more
plane taking off on spin, with loud grinding noises and leaks water from the bottom. Machine is now unusable. Worst $800 we paid for a washing machine.
Horrible! Motor gone within 2 years! – I've always stood by Simpson as a brand, not anymore! Horrible machine since the moment we purchased it. Loud, takes forever to fill up the drum and then starts leaking water, so repair done to the machine within the 1st year of purchase. Starts leaking water again, not even into the 2nd year of purchase! 3 months past 2 year warranty E50 message… Read more
pops up! Motor has gone and smells like burning mechanicals. So disappointed in this machine, $719 for this washer for it to not even last 2 years of use. Ridiculous. Never buying Electrolux products again.

Simpson washer swt8043 – I’ve owned this washer for just under 2 year and for the last month I am constantly getting black oil/dirt on my washer. It doesn’t clean our clothes. Worse washer I’ve ever owned. My last. Simpson lasted 20 years, that’s why I ended up buying another. But I would never recommend this one Show details
Made to only last past the Warranty Period – Good while it worked but of course as with all Electrolux washers it only lasts to just after the manufacturers warranty and then dies. This is the 4th Simpson 10kg washer we have had and rarely do they last more than 2 years. This one started to leak a few months ago and then would not wash small loads before coming severely unbalanced in spin.… Read more
Finally the drain pump stopped working and that was it. Luckily I always pay for extended warranty and we ended up with a store credit in lieu of getting another piece of junk as a replacement. Avoid at all costs if you are a large family who need to wash a few loads a day.
Purchased in May 2018 at Domayne NSW, West Gosford for $1,100.00.
Further Update
The Electrolux 6.5kg dryer we bought at exactly same time has also just expired a few months after warranty period - here they are both sadly waiting to be dumped. Luckinly we had store credit from the extended warranty to pay for new dryer but we are stillout of pocket $1400 for new washer we had to buy (LG 14kg top loader). Have now gone with Fisher and Paykal Dryer - fingers crossed they last longer.

Perfect Family Washing Machine – The quick 20 minute cycle is a fantastic feature especially if you want to freshen up clothing. The auto water level saves time and money adjusting to only what is required. Daily wash 45 minute cycle is my go to selection. Show details

DO NOT BUY ELECTROLUX PRODUCTS – Don’t buy this machine!! I bought my machine in December 2021 brand new. A few weeks ago, there was a burning smell coming from it. So bad I could smell it through closed doors!! I called my own tech out because I knew it had run out of warranty, paid $150 for my own tech to tell me that it’s an electrical fault and a safety issue and it should… Read more
be covered by the manufacturer. He advised me to call the manufacturer because they are liable to provide me (consumer) with a washing machine that doesn’t almost cause a fire within 3 years! That this was a very serious safety issue and had I not been vigilant, this machine would’ve 100% caused a fire in my house. And where my laundry is in my house are my children’s bedrooms right next to it!!!
So I called Electrolux to organise a service tech to come out and assess. That was all fine booking that in. Then a few days before he was meant to come out, they cancelled my service call with no explanation!! I had to call them back and ask why it was cancelled to which they replied with “sorry that was a mistake, not sure sorry.” Reschuled my service call, sweet.
Technician came out to assess and found the exact same thing as the tech I paid for… electrical fault that’s a safety issue. The plug and wiring both need replacing and the machine is a massive hazard to use. Advised by Electrolux technician NOT to use because it will cause a fire. Both techs claim that because of friction from spinning, it has caused the plug and wiring to be worn down and came close to causing a fire. Extremely bad flaw in the design!!
Tech told me to call the office to find out what was happening as he had no idea what the steps were going forward. Great.. no help at all…
So I called them that day. NO ONE could tell me anything. They didn’t know if they would send another tech with parts to fix it or refund/replace my machine. Just kept telling me to await a call.
Since then, I have had to call every single day to follow up because I keep getting told “an escalation member will contact you within the next 24 hours” AND THEN NO CALL IS RECIEVED!
I waited till after the weekend, Monday came around and I still had. I call. I decided to write an email and then made another call to which I said that I would be going to ACCC because my rights as a consumer are not being met.
That same day I received an email saying “As discussed, we would like to offer to replace your SWT1043 with the WWT1084C7WA, at a cost of $200.”
NO ONE DISCUSSED ANYTHING WITH ME! I received no calls about this AT ALL. So I then called them back AGAIN and queried the $200 charge and why no one discussed it with me. I’ve easily spent well over $200 in laundromat fees for the last 3 weeks to wash clothes as I have 4 young kids so to be slapped with a $200 charge on top of the entire ordeal was atrocious.
I agreed to the replacement machine and negotiated the fee to $100 and they told me ONCE AGAIN, someone will call me to arrange payment and delivery!!
I’M STILL WAITING!!!! My anxiety and depression have hit me harder these last few weeks, rightly so, with the amount of stress this company has caused me. I do not recommend Electrolux products to anyone based on this service.
EDIT: I called Electrolux one last time upset and almost in tears and nicely asked for an escalation number to call so I could stop calling the service center (they wouldn’t give it to me on previous calls). I finally got the escalation number, called them immediately and got a escalation team member who was rude as hell, she didn’t want to hear anything I had to say, just wanted to rectify the issue so she didn’t have to hear me anymore lol. She credited me what I paid for my washing machine at the same shop I purchased it at. (The good guys).
Good outcome to a horrible experience :)
A throw away just out of warranty – Used it for just about 2.5 years. Bought Dec 2019 retired near death May 2022. It was affordable, did large loads and worked ok. A long time ago it started going out of balance occasionally. Not so often that it was noticeably but slowly got worse to the point it jumps around the room. The technician said it was the gear box and was not uncommon for this machine. So this machine is definitely not affordable.

$2 shop quality – Only had Simpson washing machines each lasting 12-14 yrs so naturally purched another... now 2yr old Simpson 10kg washing SWT1043 has flooded my laundry, mechanic advised he can replace the circuit board plus a couple of parts which will cost up around the price of a replacement washer and the likelihood it will breakdown again... clearly Simpson don't value quality, service or their brand so why should I.... time to go LG Show details

simpsoN WASHING MACHINE IS TERRIBLE – I bought it 6years ago in newzealand and worked fine but after several using this, its stored in the garage. Recently I had a tenant and I let her use it. Never buy a Simpson washing machine – I bought a 10kg top loader SWT1043 beginning of December last year. I started having problems with it in February. same thing. Contacted them again. Wasn’t impressed their customer service is disgraceful. Took 2 weeks before I managed to organise for them to come out again. This CD time they replaced the same valve and the main control board. 2 days later I put a medium load on. Luckily I stayed with the machine. It was taking way too long for it to fill a medium load. So I paused the cycle and opened it to check. The water level was that high it was only 2 millimeters from overflowing. I contacted them for a third time. I was informed that they were going to come out a third time to fix it. Told them that isn’t possible as I had bought another washing machine and the Simpson was in my lounge room. But they insisted on coming out. Eventually they agreed to give me a refund instead of a store credit. From when it first broke down until today it has taken almost 3 months to get a resolution.

I should have done my research – I just bought my machine, first load and already not user friendly. I can't open the lid to add any items. It won't let me set the water level. It makes a "hissing" noise while washing. It takes so much longer to finish the wash. It won't let me set the water temperature. I always had a Simpson and the older models were so much better. So disappointed with Simpson and Electrolux. I don't want the machine to tell me what to do. That is my job. Show details
My most hated appliance in my home – I bought this machine on the advice of the salesperson and to be fair I have not had a single mechanical issue with it HOWEVER it is the least user friendly machine I have ever used. 1) For me, the child lock system in a huge issue. I can not disengage it and in a household of DINKS its a pointless feature. It's very slow to respond when you… Read more
want to add another item to the load. 2) The water takes so long to actually get into the machine that I end up using a bucket and the laundry sink tap to hurry it along. If you pre spray a stain, the spray dries before the water reaches the item. 3). There is no way to tell what part of the cycle the machine is up to- so if you want to add a hand washed item near the end to just go through the spin portion, then you would have no idea when that moment is. 4) The fabric conditioner dispenser has never worked from day 1. All the softened is still in the dispenser at the end of any cycle - and because you don't know which part of the cycle the machine is on, you can not judge a time to add in manually. 5) I clean the little lint collection bag after each wash but its very difficult to remove the built up grime in the white plastic agitator without resorting to a long handles bottle washer. The SWT043 has a dozen little idiosyncrasies that are such a daily frustration that sometimes I wish it would just break so I could justify buying another brand.

Simpson SWT1043 – Have had this machine for just over 3 years. Just after the warranty was up it started leaking. actually took 2 hours and 19 minutes. As there is only the two of us I only do two washes a week, not a heavy wash just day to day regular clothes. If I had used it more than that I am convinced it would have played up long before this. I am very disappointed with this machine, we had our previous Simpson top loader washing machine for over 10 years, without any problems at all. That's the main reason I went for this make. If I end up having to replace it I would not pick a Simpson again.
Edited to add: I tried a 45 minute cycle on 15/2 and that also took over 2 hours!
Only Just got it But – Bought this machine because ...Its only 1 of 2 you can buy now (aside from speed queen) that have agitator in the bowl. unless you turn off the power at the wall.. It has NO Power button the machine itself. So...if you want to add something to the wash just after starting ...Forget it. Locked Lid. Surely this is a safety feature that has gone over the top? My other machines ( we have accomodation business) the machine actually stops when you open the lid. Isn't that safe enough? Would have thought so. Apparently many others have expressed the same design fault ! Will have to set up favorites as I certainly don't trust the auto water level feature to function as it should. Read other reviews about this. F & P used to be brilliant until they sold out to Haier. Time will tell but I think electrolux - simpson need to look at what customers are saying and what they actually want from a machine. Here is a chance to sell them by the truck load and become everyone's favorite machine. Will they listen ?? I think we all know the answer to that...
Built in obsolescence – We bought this 2 years ago, we were initially very happy with it, it ran well, was quiet and the timer function saved us time by loading it the night before and hanging out the first load in the morning. After 18 months it started leaking, we investigated and found the hose between the soap box and inlet was rubbing and now leaking water. I was… Read more
replaced under warranty but now just out of warranty the hose is leaking again, very common fault, pretty obvious by it's placement that this would happen. The new hose is about $64 but it's an absolute pain to fit, I assume I better by 6 more. The hose is cheap plastic and placed where it's going to rub through and break constantly, if you're handy and know it's going to break and have spares on hand, the machine is ok.

It’s a piece of cr*p – I have owned 3 Simpson top loader washing machines, the current one I purchased only a few months ago. of crap. It’s ok to handle socks and light weight clothing, but if I put anything heavier in like, say, a towel or a doona cover, it keeps stopping throughout the spin cycle and tells me the load is unbalanced. This is very annoying and frustrating and several times I’ve just hung washing out that’s not even been spinned off. It’s impossible to balance the load to the machine’s satisfaction.
This is my last Simpson.
Don’t buy one, they have gone to the dogs. All my ratings on this machine are a 1 and if I could give it a negative score I would as it grates on my sanity.
