Simpson Top Load washing machine – I purchased the Simpson washing machine SWT6055TMWA recently. Connecting the machine was easy to install two people would be advisable if the leg adjustment is needed, could be challenging for one person. The manual has a Helpful Hints Washing Problems that has a lot of detailed information just in case your unsure of how to place your dirty… Read more
items in the machine, what colours and fabrics go together, adding fabric softener, check the pockets for small items and so on.
You can also delay your washing program by 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 hrs.
If you have young children no problem it has a child safety lock.
The machine also has a favourite function which the program can be saved for the next time you use the washing machine.
You can also enable/disable the end of wash beeping mode in case you want to wash late at night and don't want to hear the end of cycle beep.
The program selector knob is easy to use and has alot of programs for different washing times. I found there is no cycle for wool jumpers. I did try using the delicate cycle except I found the cycle was to long, I used the daily cycle instead. The washing machine has a Time Adjust button which I haven't tried yet, I will next time.
The electronic buttons are simple to understand and use as you have Temperature, Water Levels, Rinse Options and Start/Pause push buttons and an Electronic Display Finish which tells you the remaining time left.
It even has a QR Code to register your product for your warranty.
I purchased the Simpson Top Load Washing Machine because it was important to me to have an agitator, it also was a very good price from JB HI FI Yes I would recommend this product.
Can't live with continual flooding – I usually like to use a product for some time before doing a review. In my case I had the machine for nine months before finally giving up. Doesn't anyone have problems with drain hoses on these machines? I can't believe, "I have never heard of that before." Please let Product Review know if you have the same experience. Let me say the that as… Read more
a washing machine it operated well, has simple controls and cleans well. We are just a couple so it didn't exactly have heavy use. We acknowledge that with 2 stars that would be 4 if they could just make a descent drain hose. If it was installed outside a house I would have been happy BUT less than two months from new the drain hose started leaking badly at the connection point flooding the floor every wash. The local service agent had to order a replacement hose so we had the floor flooding for two weeks. The hose he brought had a different connector, he said these hoses were better but just a few weeks later, this hose failed, this time with splits in the corrugations. Another call to the agent, another two weeks, another one of those better hoses. We take a six week trip away but return to another leaking drain hose. Call service agent again but after another two weeks without their appearance we go to the place we bought it. PLEASE fix it! They take a hose off a floor model and send someone out to change it to the original hose. That failed within two months. The vendor offered a refund but it was really a hope to sell me something else with the refund and more money. We took the refund and went elsewhere but certainly weren't looking for a Simpson
Sooo quiet , I love it – This is the 3rd Simpson washing machine we have bought over 40 years. This one has a soft close lid, which stops the clang if you let go of it. The machine washes really good , ( as Simson always do) . It has lots of optional cycles ,temperatures, and duration of wash. Washes husbands greasy clothes and also does lights without damaging or stretching them . A great machine for a very affordable price. Show details
Value for money – I was after a machine more or less identical to the one I was replacing it with(the eziset 550) and this fitted the bill perfectly. It washes perfectly, is quiter then the 550, is easy as to use & takes no longer to wash things then the 550. I do have a couple of complaints though. The first is the water inlet into the bowl. This is the machine… Read more
without the soap dispenser. The inlet is under where the dispenser would be and is a half circle and splashes water up onto the top of the bowl/rim and it splashes water every where and it ends up on the floor(very poor design simpson) and the second is the alarm volume is way to soft. You can only hear it if you are in the same room as the machine so you have to keep checking on it to make sure the load is still balanced & to see if it's finished or not. Other then those 2 things, the machine is ok & worth the money. Although, if had known about the water splashing issue, I would not have bought it.
Rips clothes and leaves lint on them - would not recommend – The only reason I went with this machine is because my mother-in-law needs to use it too, and she wanted one similar to her old one to avoid having to learn a new system. Sadly, I regretted it almost instantly. The biggest issue I have is that the agitator ruined several sheets already - it keeps ripping them no matter what I do. The second… Read more
issue I have is that there is a lint filter in it, however it seems ineffective - my clothes keep coming out full of lint even though I always thoroughly clean the filter and never mix towels into a load of normal clothes.
I can only think of two positives, if I really try. One is that the menu is easy, my mother-in-law has no issues with it, and that the lid is flat enough that you can put a laundry basket on it.
Value for money – The machine is well packed and light enough for 2 to carry upstairs. Designed for 2 person type washing loads it's small enough to fit in with apartment living or granny flats. It is easy to install but be sure to read the install guide as there are a couple of important bits like the securing straps under the machine which can easily be missed… Read more
and possible damage ensue. The controls are easy to understand and operate. The full size lid is strong and the cut out section is a nice touch. It would have been nice to have the top see through and bifold like others. The machine is relatively quiet but does vibrate somewhat. Cycles can be somewhat lengthy so combined with the vibration it's best not to have it close to bedrooms. Be sure to keep the agitator based lint filter clean as it does affect the washing quality. Overall a good little washing machine and value for money with a 2yr warranty
