Bearing replacement after only 4.5 years – Simpson SWT704 Brought this machine in Jan 2014 and payed $649 at the time. Last week found out that the rubber seals around the bearings had perished. Allowing water to get into the main drum bearings and stuff them! Repair cost $400 AU. The machine was actually an Australian made model at the time, so I’m doubly disappointed, that after… Read more

Dam washing machine better last at least another 5 or more years now or l will never buy another Simpson washing machine ever again !!!
NOT HAPPY:(
Don't buy anything from them! Don't waste your time or money – I have had my washer for 3 years and it’s now failing to select any wash cycle and Won’t start at all. Customer service is a joke unless you want to spend $150 on getting them out to have a look and then charge you for parts. May as well buy a better product Show details
Continuing issues – Started with the recall that was fixed under warranty. Then out of warranty the wash cycle selector board burnt out. Being an electrician I replaced that with genuine part. Replaced the balancing rods/springs. We make a conscience effort of loading the drum equally but always goes out of balance and can shut down. Comes up with ERR error every… Read more
wash which extends the wash time dramatically if we are not there to lift the lid and hopefully reset it. Does anyone know what this error means? Would like to get an extra 6-12 months out of this machine because of what it cost and how much I’ve spent on repairs. We have 3 and 5 year old kids so bed wetting can be an issue and this machine just can’t handle it. any suggestions on what machine we should buy?
Cheers
Brendan

Has been good for the 5-6 years it lasted – We bought this machine new, not knowing any faults it may have had, but it died this week randomly, and have it organised to be repaired for free under the recall, but I've gotta say we have done majority full loads and apart from the occasional adjustment to balance it's been fine. it doesn't wash as good as our old Simpson but that thing was 20… Read more
years old, after removing the stupid lint catcher it washes a lot better.
I'm happy with what we paid for and I'm glad it's getting fixed for free! I hope it will last another 5 years or more.
*Update*
The board got replaced under warranty and I had moved out of my parents place
A couple of years ago I had gone to my parents place.. and my mother asked me if I could fix the button on the washing machine (the touch button for play/pause) Obviously I replied to her that this was not possible -the fault- turning the machine on at the power point starts the cycle (the play pause button seems stuck on)
Clearly the circuit board is done ..again Don't even buy this piece of junk second hand it's not worth repairing.
I'm going to service our old Samsung ecobubble 7.5kg washing machine (put new brushes in and shock absorbers) because at least after 2000loads it's boards aren't fried and it deserves to have another go and will replace the worst Simpson we have experienced. Simpson should be refunding everyone who bought these pieces of junk from new.
After 4 years – It still works well after 4 years & fingers crossed will last another 4. The running noise is up there considering it's in a closed laundry and i'm 2 rooms away. Annoying feature is the beep that goes when the load is finished. If you don't turn the machine off it beeps every couple of minutes. Not something our neighbour's want to hear if I put… Read more
laundry on in the morning and go out for a few hours. If there's a combination to turn that feature off i'd love to know it.
No go – We have had our Simpson SWT704 for 2 years no problems it's been great. No lint issues no agitator issues. Yes it beeps when finished. That's let let you know it's done and turn off the power. Now our problem is we turner it on to wash a load and there was no power showing on the machine. Now if there is anyone at Electrolux that thinks they can fix our machine properly the first time with no run around lets see Show reply

Deeply Disappointed noisy, goes out of balance – Had this washing machine for four years now washes small items ok without going out of balance. Had to replace circuit board after one year. Unable to wash sheets and towels although separated into different loads. The sheets end up in a massive tangle that Houdini the magician would find difficult to solve, the same problem with the towels. The… Read more
machine at this stage goes into a horrible shaking and banging have to rush in and lift lid to stop the machine. Unable to leave the house while washing these items. Contacted customer service and without any sensible answers, told to contact electrician as the machine is out of balance, good one, cause the crap thing is out of balance when everything is tangled! Not happy with the service, this machine model has obvious design faults.

Horrible machine from new and only getting worse – Our machine had circuit board issues from new which was only fixed under warranty after we made a very public complaint about Electrolux's service and warranty practices. Cleans good but noisy and not the best in class – Got the washing machine in late November 2011. Had it for about six years. Didn't know there was a recall. have lot of linen for children and changing your bedding regularly.
Washing machine cleans clothes well enough, it uses quite a bit of water. Its not smart enough to auto turn off. It will beep and beep (annoying) when its done until you manually turn the knob back to off. It has a lint filter in agitator you have to manually empty which can go mouldy and leak into your washing. It is noisy when your doing quite a bit of rinsing and also spinning. Make sure you spread your clothes out evenly before cranking it up to full speed.
It does the job, its not the cheapest. No automatic turn off which is a pain. The LED and beeping sound will go on until you get out of bed or come back from your shopping to turn it off There are more quieter options for top loaders out there in the market like the fisher and paykel models.

to run. Beeped incessantly when it finished a load, so I could not put a load on at bed time to hang in morning, or even just ignore it for an hour. 3rd year the solid state control fried between 1 load & the next, all dead as doornail. Replaced easily , but cost $277. 4 months later spin overbalanced & is cactus; clutch is burned out. Thanks Simpson/Electrolux.
I issue a challenge to Electrolux – Machine is 4.5yrs old. Had the circuit board replaced at 3yrs old. At around 4yrs old it started suffering imbalance issues on every load regardless of the type or amount of clothes. Today the drum has fallen inside the machine. Under consumer law I think it is reasonable to expect a $700 washing machine to last longer than this? If someone from… Read more

Total dead fail – When originally purchased I was happy as all my family members own simpson for years two machines being over 18 years old, and only having a few things needing repairs or being replaced. bed, to have washing ready for morning before work, and the machine was dead. No power nothing, and the drum was full of water. Here I am at 4am hand washing my clothes to get them dry before work and school.
The machine had decided to kick the bucket. Now it has no power at all, assuming circuit board has failed and I can't do any washing.
I'm expected to wait for a service person to come to my house to have a look at it to get the approval for a return. I work 6 days a week. Sundays off. So now I'm reduced to hand washing until I can A) afford a new washing machine
B) have a technician come out to tell me it needs to be replaced. But that could be weeks and weeks as my schedule doesn't have the time to fit in a call out to my place to tell me something that me and blind freddy already know the answer to.
I'm sorry simpson, I had your back the whole time. 9 members of my family have simpson and it seemed like the no brainer choice, I'm the 1/10 I suppose.
For a full time working mother this is a horrendous inconvenience to my family and myself.
Very disappointed...
3.5 years and today it spewed grit into the bowl – Our washer is only 3.5 years old, and for the past 6 months it's been making a funny rattling noise during the spin cycle (like rocks rattling around), not every time just intermittently. Today during the spin cycle it made a massive banging noise (thought it was exploding) and black grit spewed into the basket from who knows where. Also have… Read more

Update 13/2/17 - tech came today and it's dead - he's never seen this sort of breakdown of parts before - cost to replace multiple parts including drum and gearbox exceeded original cost of machine! We now own a Fisher and Paykel
Never again – Going on 4 years since I purchased my Simpson 7.5kg washing machine (SWT704)..forever balancing it...noisy...rips clothes...after all the hassles with this machine the last straw, loudest noise from laundry....go and check and the drum has fallen down..well I guess it,s hand washing for me until I can afford another machine Show details

and continue cycle. Can't tell where it got to on cycle. Have to guess, manually select drain and spin, come back and manually select rinse n spin!
Usually have to rinse and spin twice because it has not effectively WASHed load.
Our needs are not huge with small household of twoi little children and one adult.
Cycles take for EVER, PLUS the time to select next cycles... and it beeps constantly in between.
Lint is a problem.
Does not wash clothes well.
Even when it did complete a cycle, you couldn't find a quick cycle even for small load.
Big regrets buying this. Was a Simpson fan for 14 years. No more.
Would like it fixed by Electrolux/Simpson ... or replaced. .. or money back.
These issues are named endlessly by a multitude of customers, so no time should be wasted by Simpson on blame or claim. Just own the problem and look after your customers... back your name by being responsible for the fat lemon that you received good money for ! Then you might have a shot at holding a place at all in the washing machine market.
Would be the best investment you could make.

Poor quality – Purchased just 4 years ago and now dead, no power in it at all.seems the "faulty switch" also blows up the power board!! The only help seems to be "contact customer care" as the reply, this is not fixing the machine at all.hey maybe in good faith we could all be refunded the repair costs as I for one don't have a spare $350 laying around.laundromat for me Show details
Simpson SWT704 - no power – Three and 1/2 years from new, and no problems at all with machine, until it stopped completely with no power. Repairer came out, did not open it up, but said it was the power control board and was not economical to fix. I am not mechanical at all, but did some google searching, bought a new part for $85 (control board), put it in myself in 5 minutes - it works! Are the repairers just taking us for a ride? Simpson say its not a recall fault – Purchased this machine just on 4 years ago. Have replaced pump after 2years at a cost of over $200 and now machine has stop mid cycle & has no power. Would not consider Simpson again – Cleans clothes reasonably well although did tangle a bit. Was reasonably noisy, could fit a fair size load in it. Had issues with the LED lights & control panel within the warranty period. Solenoide was intermittent & caused flooding, due to not closing off water when required. Machine ended up stopping mid load decided to throw out & buy another machine as the repairs would of cost approximately half that of a new one. Show details
Less than three years old problems already – This product was purchased August 2013. The err 11 message number comes up.Have cleaned filters etc still no water getting into machine. My other question to simpson/electrolux would be why they continued to make this model after the initial recall!!?? Ours unfortunately doesn't fall into the serial number batches mentioned nor it seems would our specific fault. But I also suspect that if there is a problem on this model bad enough for a recall there are probably other problems such as those mentioned. Disappointing. Will probably look elsewhere for different make if cost to repair is too high.
Simpson again, I don't think so.
May 10th, 2017 Update: Machine continues to disappoint
Last August, I wrote about failed solenoids which allow the water to enter the machine. The electrolux people were kind enough to pay for the parts and the I had to pay for the technician.
This machine had a recall but unfortunately our serial numbers didn't fall into the recall bracket.
As I wrote last year if there was a problem that required a recall for one issue, there probably will be other problems. And so it is I come to the next problem, that of balancing. Yep like other good customers of Electrolux our machine now has a balancing issue.
I have just replaced the suspension rods to see if this solved the problem but to no avail.
A test run of a small load saw the wash ok but when it came to the spin within seconds the err17 code was up and the machine was thumping away.
Is there anyone at Electrolux that would just like to admit that this model was poorly made or poorly supervised in the making and offer some sort of compensation to the long suffering consumers.
Once upon a time washing machines would last and require very little maintenance over the life of the product.
I suppose all we can do now as consumers is search out all products under the electrolux umbrella and steer clear of them.
Which is a pity because I'm sure they may have some good products out there but I'm not willing to go down this path again.

Rubbish Product! Terrible Service! – After returning to Australia from overseas we went about purchasing appliances. there had been a recall on my machine for potential shock from the control board, just after we purchased it. I would have assumed I would have been notified, but nothing. As for this problem. If you are reading this, the problem with our machine dying is well documented, it is a faulty circuit control board, you will also notice that Electrolux should be well aware by their response to complaints with contact information. I have emailed Electrolux with my concern and today received a response. It goes on to say they are sorry for my woes, followed by numbers to contact for a service technician and the estimated fee I will be charged for their service. It is obvious by the response they are not prepared to offer any real service or take any responsibility for their faulty product. I have replied to this email stating that they may have wiped their hands on this occasion, but rest assured I will never purchase another Electrolux product again. As a side not, Ebay has numerous listings of these boards for sale, not surprising.
Machine Died Today. Please Help – I have a lot of dirty laundry but our Simpsons washing machine SWT704 was not turning on. I can't afford to buy a new one. I'm very disappointed. We bought it mid June 2011. I thought it would last a little bit longer than 5 years. Can you please help.
Waste of money!!!! Died after only 4 years – I'm so disappointed with this product. It's only just out of warranty and the control board died and cost me $302 today to have it replaced by the lovely washing machine repair man. I don't feel as though I should have to fork out my hard earned money for a known fault. I'm so angry. Have emailed Electrolux but as yet, no reply.

broke down. obvious why they stopped making them – Lasted less than 4 years with normal use and then it just died. Won't turn on. Seems like they are designed to fail outside of warranty. The "recall" was just some tech who came out last year, fiddled with something for 5 minutes and whacked a sticker on the back.
