I bet about a year out it leaks water! – I used to be a seller of these machines, not any more. So many times I have fixed customers machines with the fill hose within the machine cracked and leaking. If you get onto it early it may or may not short the drain pump. I moved to other places and it was exactly the same, I used to go to the dump and scavenge parts of other Simpson's. Fill… Read more

hose can't handle holding water, deteriorates. But that's the way it's designed. Well they are gone now. Forgot how many I fixed in indigenous communities I got our buying team to source another brand as it was embarrassing to sell a product that died so soon, often just out of warranty. That would have been 1000s of sales lost for Simpson. I have not sold Simpson products ever since, I hope Simpson has done better. .

Rubbish – This would have to be the worst washing machine l have ever had. When you put the water cycle on Auto sometimes it does not even cover the clothes and other times the water goes way over the top. The gentle or hand wash cycle is no more gentle than the normal wash cycle. We have had this machine maybe 3.5 years and itis now making a slapping… Read more

I Didn't like this Washing machine – I bought this for my 95yr old aunty. The controls looked simple and it has a lint filter and agitator. It Just turned 1 year old now. It is mostly used for regular Washing. It wasn't suitable and we both disliked it. Fisher and Paykal were great. They replaced it for one with an agitator. Very happy with the new 8.5 kg and the Service. Show details

Waste of money – Buyer Beware this brand and model is absolute rubbish, Electrolux care/help centre extremely unhelpful, washing machine started to leak water approx 30 days before warranty expired technician says they can’t find the problem 3 months on and still cannot get a resolution from the company, Will never buy another product from this company

Steer clear of this machine – I’ve had this washing machine a couple of years now... keep hoping for it to break down so I have a reason to buy a different one. The beginning of the wash is very noisy, creating water hammer as it drains water from the last wash. If you only want to do a quick wash (20mins) the machine does not give you any wash options.... it is set to auto… Read more

fill and wash on hot water ... and the auto fill does not cover the clothes with enough water. And most frustratingly, clothes, sheets etc come out crushed and tangled ... my ironing stack is now much bigger as I have to iron almost everything that goes in the machine. This is a photo of my latest wash... sheet and pillowcase tangled together

Wash day is a breeze – Brought one back in 2017 to replace the old Simpson that was 15 years old. The old machine was then the 2nd machine for the feral work clothes of my husbands. It broke down the week before we moved to our new house so what did I do? I used the machine brought in 2017 for the feral clothes and brought the same machine for the good clothes. Never… Read more

been happier both machines doing a wonderful job and the feral clothes have never been cleaner. There is a little bit of clicking and clacking while the taps are filling the machines but after that its hard to hear them. I run them at night on occasion and they are near the bedrooms but you hardly hear them. Great Machines.

Im a Simpson fan, I have a SWT 8043 and love it. my grand daughter has one also and is a fan too – Am a fan of Simpson, there are three generations in our clan who use these machines and are very happy with the product. I wore my last one out and had to replace it, I chose a SWT 8043 have had it for 2 yrs and mostly really like it, the one exception is Im having trouble with water levels and can't change the settings to suit. setting on any cycle. Overall the machine washes very well / lint free, and only minor creasing. Cycle times are too long for me so I use the 20 & 45minute cycles, even then the water level is only ever at low. This is a classy looking machine with a lovely scratch resistant lid. Very snappy in my laundry. Let's get some info on these water levels and we'll be dancing.

Wonderful machine! Can't fault it! – I have to say some of the reviews here are harsh. I have found the machine to be easy to use, quiet and it washes the clothes very well. I can easily adapt the programming to suit myself if needed but the pre-loaded programs cover almost anything you'll need. I am very happy with my purchase. Show details

Water hammer nightmare – "Water hammer is a shock wave of high water pressure in the pipes, caused by the sudden closing of a valve. The water does not compress, but crashes into the closed valve again and again, creating a loud hammering noise. The wave eventually dissipates within the piping system". This is exactly what happens on any wash cycle, and it only stops when… Read more

the tub finally starts filling with water, which is after about 10 very loud bangs. The solution is that I have to spend another $120 on two hammer arresters (for cold and hot taps) to avoid ending up with leaking pipes behind the wall. Or buy another different machine.

Also, the detergent/softener tray just does not want to go in easily whenever it is removed. It's a matter of time before it breaks.

Terrible – Purchased 2 years ago as it was a very similar machine to our previous Electrolux which I absolute loved and never missed a beat. Common theme amongst other reviews is terrible water hammer, and our experience is no different, the hammer hits very hard right through the whole house. Whilst here for other work had a plumber check and wasn’t… Read more

anything he could do. Machine would often go out of balance making such a terrible noise and jumps around the laundry, sounding like it’s been dropped from a height. One day found a crescent shaped bit of plastic on the laundry floor so made a warranty call. Serviceman had the audacity to say to me “what did you do to it?” He had a look, advised it was a plastic buffer from around the drum that had sheared off and that it’s not really a problem, but put a new suspension kit in anyway. He took the plastic away so now have no proof. Here we are a year later and warranty is now expiring, and almost every single wash is going out of balance, we cannot be far from the laundry as once again, almost every time it goes into a spin cycle (medium spin setting) the loud banging and machine jumping starts again and we have to redistribute the load to pick up the cycle again. It’s now become stressful to use.

absolute rubbish – I purchased the Simpson as it was the only machine on the shop floor that I could have on that day (February 2022). It took ages to get onto the right people to deal with and have not heard anything since, only an answer… Read more

LId error – Lid error not able to use machine? Machine did not work well even when running. After 1 and a half years started getting a Ld error if machine was turned off overnight seemed to go away error. But not now 4 weeks Ld error as soon as you go to any cycle. Was not aware it had a 2 year warranty it is now 3 years and 5 months old and Electrulux does not want to know. Worse machine I have ever owned. Show details

Pipework wrecker – The filling cycle on this machine is terrible having caused quite savage water hammers from first use. We installed water hammer arrestors but the machine still manages to cause hammering so we now have got to the stage of bucketing water into the machine at the start of each load. We will be purchasing another machine as soon as we can afford to but it certainly will NOT be a Simpson.

Promises much and delivers less – Purchased new about 2 weeks ago. The wife wanted a top loader. The machine presents as if there are multiple program choices so you can choose water level, water temperature, duration of wash, spin rpm and a separate button for “Time Adjust”. However if you choose a particular cycle the machine dictates most of the rest eg; Quick 20 doesn’t allow… Read more

you to choose a water level to save water, it just does it’s own thing. Same for most other cycles which cannot be adjusted. The most ridiculous to us is the “Time Adjust” button. It only gives a 10 minute range in two steps of 5 minutes each. So if you want to select the Bedding cycle you cannot adjust the very long program nor the water level. Useless!!

Disappointed in this model – I feel like I need to make this review after using this washing machine for 4 months. After having an old Simpson 7.5Kg top loader for 20 years without any issues thought we'd stay with the same brand after it gave way. Very disappointed in how this machine functions. After starting, cannot reset the water or change any settings. The Auto fill… Read more

does not fill adequate water to wash clothes. The dispenser for the detergent and softener is terrible. Firstly doesn't dissolve the detergent properly and the softener is left on the clothes after the cycle has finished. All of our clothes have white blotch marks left on them from the fabric softener. This is a big problem and annoying. Also the clothes a bit wet despite having it set on the highest spin cycle. This was not the case with the old model. This therefore leaves the clothes wetter than before, hence takes longer to dry outside. This is an inconvenience as never had this issue with the old model. It used to spin the clothes almost dry with some garments. The only function I like is the slow closing lid. That's it. Simpson, never again. Lets see how long this machine lasts.

Very dissatisfied – Machine leaves excessive amounts of lint on clothing. Cleaning the lint catcher awkward and takes time with lots of water to rinse it out. Difficult to unclog and perform task with arthritic hands. False water saving. Show details

Absolutely hate using this machine – Worst machine I have ever had to use. You can not adjust the preset cycles, you can't open the lid when it's turned on to check the water or whatever, it's extremely loud to run and now to top it all off when a cycle begins water is gushing out from the bottom of the machine in the back left hand corner and flooding our floors. I've nearly slipped and hurt myself a few times from it.

Don't buy the SWT8043 Simpson Washing Machine – I have same issues as others have mentioned. Temperature setting is set to warm on every cycle on the machine (except cold wash). The cycles on the machine do not offer a choice when choosing cold water - the other 'bedding', 'heavy duty' and 'delicates' cycles have to have a manual change of water temp. It's all pre-set into the cycles and the… Read more

machine does it's own thing (at least my last machine you could change water temp and water level during the cycle) You can't set water levels once the cycle starts - you have to stop the whole cycle and restart from the beginning. Regular and Daily cycles - no difference; hand wash and Delicates - no difference Constant clicking sound related to the spinning of the tub - sounds like a child's bike with something in the spokes of the wheel that make that fast clicking sound when they ride the bike. It is not a quiet noise either! The buttons (or whatever you call them) was sold to me as a good idea (by the salesman from the Good Guys) - they are not! Unlike a "real" button, these hard indents in the machine supposedly operate as a button. They have to be pressed hard and exactly spot on in the middle to get them to work. Water temperature - you have to manually operate your water taps! This is worst feature of all - if you want hot water - choose "Hot water" and then manually turn your taps so that you have more hot water coming into the machine than cold! What a joke. If you want very hot water - turn off your cold water completely, but then you must remember to go back and turn it back on for the rinse cycle. I have to do most things manually for it. Can't wait for this machine to die and go to the tip.

NOT BUILT TO LAST – We have constant problems with this machine after 2 years of use. Purchased the machine from a local retailer in August 2017. In October 2020 had to replace the pump motor because the machine was not draining water, which cost us $150. 6 weeks later the motor died again because of a hole which appeared in the dispenser hose which then caused… Read more

water to leak onto the motor. Another $250 to replace the motor and hose again. Unfortunately out of 2 year warranty period and then all the problems start appearing. you would think spending $700 on a washing machine would last you longer than 3 years. Unfortunately they appear to be a low quality product

Would not recommend. Super hard on clothes – Would not recommend. Actual wash time too long, very hard on clothes which results in excessive fine lint left on clothes. to any other spin preference, leaves permanent creases. Delicate and hand wash no different, still hard on clothes. Some items of clothes got damaged. Can't select some settings eg water level, spin, when choosing eg regular etc, wash cycle. Machine is pre set for different cycles. Sorry I purchased it. The machines with only manual dial select and not touch would be better I'm sure. Had my previous Simpson Whirlpool for over 30 yrs and only had to replace one house in all that time. It was the old manual dial. Strongly recommend people do their homework before purchasing any washer. Would stay clear of this one.

old) Marks on clothing like the detergent has settled on it. Clothes come out tangled. A simple wash seems to take forever with all the so called thinking the machine does. Had hoses replaced and told by my repairer that this a a common part he has had to replace on this same model for other clients. Recently the machine made a very loud banging noise and almost went thru the laundry window. Now the motor as ceased and a repair will cost almost as much as I paid for it in the first place. Life expectancy of this model is pathetic. Would not give it a star rating at all. I was a loyal Simpson buyer but now I’ll be looking elsewhere

,water is leaking out from under the machine during a cycle and for some odd reason clothes are becoming terribly knotted together ,you can put in a load and afterwards the whole lot is one big knot .Also the fabric softener dispenser never works properly and is always full of water after a load . Obviously we will need to get a repair person around to look into the leaking .I have always bought Simpson machines ,and much preferred the mechanical control versions which usually lasted a long time .I guess things are just not made to last these days .

rural situation. None in stock at the store so had to wait a week before receiving one. It arrived, it was installed and the old machine taken away. Studied the book that night. Loaded the machine next morning, turned it on and got wet feet, water was leaking from under the machine. The machine will be replaced. Having second thoughts now, perhaps the front loader should now be considered. A replacement machine, same model, was found from another store and delivered 5 days later. The installer unpacked the new machine, lifted the lid and discovered the entire bowl had collapsed. So much for Simpson's quality control. The installer was helpful, so was Bing Lee. On checking the first machine the installer found that the inlet pipe was not connected to the top of the machine, he connected it and so far it works fine. I do not expect to get many years service from this machine it is certainly not as well made as my previous Australian made machine. I like to control my wash, I can't with this machine, doubt I will choose Simpson again. Simpson have acknowledged the fault with this machine.
