With a barnstorming 90 mins shaving time, the Pitbull Pro Gold performs really well with strong shaving power but is bulky, overpriced, has suspect build quality and is awkward to clean... although it is simple to use and has good functionality. BUILD QUALITY (*) -Despite its juggernaut appearance, the charmingly titled Skull shaver isn't as… Read more

tough as it looks. -My second one (the first decided to run continuously until cleaned.) -A internal fitting broke (a small tab that fits in the grey spindle. If you clean or remove mechanism, do it with the machine standing up. -The second saw the chrome peel after sitting in the wash station. -The same internal fitting broke. - There have been further breakages since.

PERFORMANCE (**** Dry shave, new blades, wet shave, ****) +When the blades are rotating and you use small circular motions you will get very good performance. Clean it daily as the oils and other stuff that goes on your head will impact performance. +If you keep your hair short to 0.5 and use daily, cleaning after each shave and changing blades when needed**, this really does offer a strong performance but $199 is a big outlay for a head / body shaver. +Crucially, for personal grooming and to ease frustration you should desire the best, and this is the key info with the conditions as described**; I eliminated most (if not quite all) of the small stubble even after not cleaning for a few days (see the evidence in the photos) with a dry shave, which is impressive. Note, this is also with new, (bought from Amazon) blades. +Changing the blades rather than buying a new blade head is awkward but cost effective, and you get more blades. +Wet shaving delivers an excellent performance and is probably best practice but do be weary of having slippy hands and dropping it, as it a very temperamental shaver, despite its performance. -It's a bit bulky to handle and becomes heavy for longer shaves -It will turn itself off at will, but this normally corrects itself with cleaning after each shave. +It can be used for face shaving too but keep in mind this could wear your blades which will reduce the quality of your head shave.

In conclusion, the Skull Shaver series deserves credit for helping many who needed this for their daily shaving routine and confidence. That's a big win; as a result, it had longevity as top dog and inspired a chasing pack. However, we can't help but feel it's success has been milked with ludicrously high asking prices and it's discontinuation (knowingly or unknowingly) is an apt decision given the flaws. Ways of dealing with these flaws include daily cleaning to maximise performance and regular blade changes as and when needed. A vital tip is if you find a small axle breaks off inside your shaver, just use some gum to fill the small gap and you will find your wheels will then again. This will give you the best possible performance and should keep you happy. However, at $200 a pop, that's a lot of money. While it does shave real well, up close and personal, there's reliability issues. If you don't clean it, it will turn off often. While not terrible, as it's a little bigger, it is not the greatest handler, and with the price, performance has to be as near to perfect as possible - and more passes are required for a fully balanced shave. So if you are going to spend this sort of money, check all the reviews from the likes of Veroshave, Remington etc and go from there.

Just not reliable – I have had 2 electronic head failures within 10 months of purchasing the original unit. 1st was replaced, lets see how the 2nd goes, will be asking for money back not a replacement. I can't recommend this product. Show details

Two failures within six months of ownership - poor customer service – My Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO has failed twice now. The first one failed after two months of use and the second after five months. Both times, it took over a month for a replacement shaver to be provided. Given that two shavers failed so quickly and the length of time it took to receive replacements, I requested a refund. However, Skull Shaver… Read more

Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO Head Shaver not recommended, rather get Remington Ultimate Series RX7 Head Shaver – Initially, I bought the Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO Head Shaver from Shaver Shop and after a while encountered issues with its consistency in starting. After reaching out to Skull Shaver Customer Service, I was informed that it was beyond the warranty period and advised that ‘I note it is a PitBull Gold PRO which is out of its warranty period. suggest you plug it into its charger and charge it throughout the night. This can often reboot the motor’. Despite attempting this, the shaver still failed to start most of the time unless I adjusted the head. Unfortunately, the delicate plastic locking pins broke off during these adjustments. I'm disappointed not only by how quickly I had to replace the blade head due to bluntness but also by the numerous issues with this relatively expensive shaver, coupled with poor after-sales service.

Subsequently, I invested in the Remington Ultimate Series RX7 Head Shaver and found it to be much better constructed, offering superior durability and robustness. Additionally, the design of its shaver head replacement, which I haven't needed yet, seems more efficient and offers better value for money. I've been impressed by how much quicker I can shave my head with the RX7 compared to the Pitbull Gold. The RX7's motor feels noticeably stronger, and so far, the shave has felt closer as well.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend purchasing the Remington Ultimate Series RX7 Head Shaver over the Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO Head Shaver.

The Remington Ultimate Series RX7 Head Shaver is significantly superior to the Skull Shaver Pitbull Gold PRO Head Shaver.

Works but does not last – My experience is similar to another review. The unit worked well in regard to shaving my head however in that over the last 3 years, I had to purchase two entire units as the main unit breaks down after time and stops working. Add the cost of replacing the cutter head every 3 months or so and the total cost of ownership becomes expensive. It… Read more

appears that the reason they break down is that they are cheaply made.

So I recently changed over to a Remington head shaver. It only requires the blade to replaced once a year and the results so far are much better than the Pitbull. It is faster and easier to use and gives a better result.

Outstanding head and face shaver! – 40+ years of shaving and I only found this now! This is an outstanding product...better than any other electric shaver I have used! Smooth head shave and it is so good for a total face shave too! I won't need to buy any more manual shavers and blades. Total shave time is pretty quick too! Show details

Double Disappointment With Both Standard and Platinum Pitbull Skull Shavers Failed Within 18 Months – I had an incredibly disheartening experience with the Pitbull Skull Shaver, not once but twice. Initially, I purchased the standard model, which only managed to last just over a year before it abruptly stopped working, refusing to turn on. I decided to give the brand another shot and upgraded to the Platinum version, which, to my dismay, turned… Read more

out to be even less reliable. Within a mere two months, it developed a severe fault where the travel lock would not disengage, effectively rendering it useless.

To make matters worse, the Platinum shaver began to turn on and off at whim, even powering up in the middle of the night without any interaction, disrupting my sleep and raising serious safety concerns over its unpredictable behavior. I feared it could be a fire hazard and ultimately had no choice but to take it back to the store, where it was confirmed to be faulty.

With both models failing, one after a year and the other in just two months, my confidence in the Pitbull Skull Shaver brand is completely shattered. The thought of a premium product turned into a series of problems, wasting my time and causing undue stress. I strongly suggest others to consider this experience before purchasing and look into more dependable options for their grooming needs.

3 years on and going strong! – Greatest tech I’ve bought. 3 years old at this stage. Just searching for a new blade now. Battery still lasts well, get 7-10 cuts before needing a charge but lasts less if hair is long. I’ve had a barber comment on how close the shave was when I was getting my beard trimmed. They state 90 seconds which is fair but you need to do it daily or… Read more

every second day at most to come close. If your hair is getting too long it’s very hard to use and takes a while. I buzz my head with a set of clippers on zero first if it’s gone a bit too long.

I have pretty thick hair and have no drama. I’d say most 1 star reviews are operator error or expecting too much from it.

Have convinced half a dozen other blokes to get one and they love them and use them as much as I do.

Still working like a charm – Have had the unit for several month now and cannot say enough good about it. Still working like new. I follow the instruction and after each cleaning from shave spray it with an electric shaver lubricant to keep blades sharp. Show details

Don't buy it - hopeless – Bought the Pitbull gold after doing the research and noting a number of good reviews. Unfortunately it does not do what it says on the box. The first couple of uses I was reasonably impressed, however about 3 shaves in the problems started. The cutting blades appear to be of poor quality. I can no longer use mine. The finish is average at best… Read more

Not for all Hair Types – I believe when you develop a product like this, one solution does not fit all. (hair types) The hype passed on from video content really doesn't capture the thickness of hair follicles and the time used, again this is subject to different hair types. My hair follicles are quite is quite thick so I find the machine working a lot to shave my head.… Read more

If I have to use a razor to finish off then I find the product to be deficient and yes I have timed a razor vs the pit bull. The razor comes out as the comprehensive winner all the time.

Skull Shaver - The one product every bald guy dreams of everyday – The Skullshaver for personal use is fantastic but able to take it with you whilst travelling is the greatest hair product this decade. Full charge can last up 3-4 days. Simple to use without stressing while givng you the sense of relaxation. I use the skull shaver gold 1x a week with shaving within 10-15mins for that clean Mr Sheen look. Show details

Good razor, cheap batteries used – I’m giving 4atars for the razor. The battery is 1. The razor is good, the style is comfortable while shaving. It actually does a really really good job, when used. Obviously. I use this razor every 2 days on my head. I’ve gone through now 2 battery heads as they just stop charging for some reason. Kind of annoying.l now. All they do is send a new one and it’s the same problem. Show details

I could buy some homebrand razors for a better result..I just hope others read this if there spending there hard earned dollars on rubbish says heads should be replaced between 2and six months at around $40/50 dollars Better off with a conventional razor hands down Show details

Not a regular shaver – I purchased the platinum model. Was good at the start but the blades quickly dull and are expensive to replace. Practical but hard to maintain due to catchment area. It also is longer process than razor. All in all if you have the patience to rub away at your head and wash it and keep it lubed and money to replace blades it’s Good. But if you… Read more

Surprised, it's that good – This review is on the Pitbull Platinum Pro.. To start with I normally use a blade to shave my head. Been doing this for more than a decade. I decided to give this practice a rest so I used my Phillips shaver. After about 30 minutes of rub, rub, rub the job was done, the stubble was still present and I was not happy. So off to The Shaver shop I… Read more

go. I've seen these Pitbulls about on the internet, so I was aware of them. Chatting to the sales assistant going back and forth to the cheaper one then back to Pitbull Platinum Pro I wasn't really prepared to pay the $285 but if ya going to buy a sportscar ya may as well buy a Porsche 911. So I bought the Pitbull Platinum Pro. The unit is great and my goodness it's quick and believe me it's so close to the blade it's not funny. So well done Pitbull. This Platinum version comes with a cleaning bath, to my surprise after 20 odd seconds powered on in the bath I opened up the head assembly, bingo its clean. Battery life is OK it uses 3% to do the job. Comfortable in the hands left or right. Anyhow that's enough rambling on..

This is a head and face shaver for bald people – Skull shaver by Pitbull worth the money if you want a bald head cut. I was a bit hesitant at first and ordered after I read reviews. I received the unit is and found it was well built, easy to use, clean and works as described. It come very close to a bald cut and I am very satisfied. I will be trying on my face as well. 5 is two reasons. 1. It comes with an EU plug but you charge with USB and secondly batter life could be better. I only get about 3 full cuts and again minor. Saves me money at a barber ! Worth a buy try Amazon for price comparisons.
