Very poor communication after you have paid a deposit. No one will return calls or emails. After 2 months of emails to them still no reply. I need paperwork uploaded to the ausnet portal but apparently that’s to hard.

Very Very Bad Installation. A terrible company – Had 6.6 KW system installed by Sky Solar Energy (skysolarenergy.com.au) about 4 years ago and have had trouble ever since with water damaged ceilings and walls. First ever roof leaks and water damages occurred after few weeks of installation. My pest control company picked up high moisture levels in one room and my builder inspected and noticed a… Read more
few broken tiles on the roof visible just from the edge of the solar panels. Reported this to Sky Solar Energy and they sent their [Content Removed] speaking team of 2 who can't speak a single word of English. I had to use google translator to communicate with those blokes. They got on to the roof and I went along with them on to the roof to inspect. The guys removed the solar panels to inspect what's the issue underneath, and to our surprise, we all noticed the following: - 30+ broken tiles - Whirly Bird on the roof damaged - the railings to which solar panels are fixed are butted to other existing services like hot water system solar panel and whirly bird with zero clearance - a number of tiles siliconed - since the roof tiles are low shingle (and almost flat tiles), the brackets that are fixed to the roof frame/studs are not fitted correctly and that caused the roof tiles not sit correctly flush to the adjoining tiles. And because the tiles are not flush and in level, water comes through when it rains. - Sarking sheet damaged
The [Content Removed] guys who came to fix the issues spent around 4 hours on the roof and had fixed the broken tiles where possible. Obviously, I couldn't stay all the time on the roof with the guys. So, I had to assume it's all fixed and I will have a peaceful life ahead.
Looking at all these I felt like, the team who came to install in the first place are either not interested in doing the job or inexperienced in doing the installs. Absolutely zero respect to people's property.
Now in 2023, I am still experiencing roof leaks. Went into the roof cavity when it's raining and noticed the water dripping from a hole in sarking sheet that's right below the solar panels and roof tiles. Reported to Sky Solar Energy [Names Removed], and as expected no response to many of my emails. Finally, I hear from [Name Removed] saying if the inverter doesn't show any red indicator there is nothing, they are responsible of.
So now I am left with a roof leak, water damages. Hired a licensed electrician who does solar too to inspect and he found: - At least one solar panel is not bolted to the railing and rattles when its windy - All wiring of the panels not secured - Solar panels are not in level - Many Roof tiles siliconed - Roof space not utilised efficiently for greater power generation - the railings to which solar panels are fixed are butted to other existing services like hotwater system solar panel and whirly bird with zero clearance
Obviously, the electrician cannot fix the issues as the works are done by Sky Solar Energy and due to warranty conditions. Also reported to Clean Energy Council and found out that Sky Solar Energy moved out of the Solar Energy Retailers List of Clean Energy Council and they are no longer a trusted retailer.
So, in a nutshell, based on my unfortunate experience, Sky Solar Energy is not a trustworthy company, and I would strongly recommend staying away and DO NOT do business with these guys.
Poor installation – Had 6,6 kW system installed by Sky Solar Energy 3 years ago and have had trouble ever since , with water damaged ceilings. They came out once in the first year and said all fixed. . Don't believe all the hype or glossary photographs . The installers were all Chinese with only 1 who could speak English , ( a woman who appeared to be his wife.)… Read more
wired up the inverter , I do not know if she was qualified or not but he kept coming back to look but never used any tools to check her work.
I had the roof cleaned and sealed $2000 hoping this would stop leaks , it did for a time but it came back again , had to remove mould 1square metre.
As a last resort had a resident in the complex ( who was a retired roofer) he checked the roof and found a cracked tile where they put the clip to hold the panels , also where the power cable goes through the tile to the inverter was not sealed , this allowed water to run down the conduit into the ceiling space.
Advised Sky Solar Energy , they were not interested , as they only guarantee their warranty on installations for 12 months while other Companies do for 10 years
Had an independent company inspect and repair at $195 , they confirmed what the roofer had said , and also found 3 panels not attached properly, plus other problems . Even with all this info still no compensation for repairs plus painting costs. Around $150 more .
So after all this , you make up your own mind .

Bad installation. Shonky plus – Purchased a 3phase inverter and paid for a 3phase inverter They installed a single phase inverter and reported to Energex that they installed a 3phase inverter. 100percent illegal. I have contacted the company person Justin and he said, he would get back to me.. No response. Awaiting Energex to sort this now and hopefully remove their licence. Show details
Terrible - 0 stars if possible – In 2016 this company did not communicate to our family the process for installing and activating the solar panels after installation. We later found that the solar panels were not connected and not working for over 1 year. Terrible service that cost us a years worth of electricity bills. 5 years on and the solar panels doesn't seem to be… Read more
retrieving much solar anymore - our electricity bill sometimes costs an additional $150-$200 more than before.
Rude and unprofessional – Throughout the call salesman talked down another operators. Was nice and actually informative when he thought the sale was going through however when I mentioned other pricing and asked about the panels he responded rudely even though there was an opportunity to still get my business. It has put me off buying solar at all for interim. Show details
Very bad experience first up – Sales rep was very pushy on the phone. Didn't let you ask questions. No idea at all about Customer Service. Glad I stopped there as I can imagine what it would be like afterwards if their sales team is like that.
Extremely Disappointing Install – Engaged these people for a Solar Install, the Install was botched with tech problems , I was left floundering week after week with an Install that wasn't working and to top it off, I had to be the one constantly ringing them to see if the problem could be fixed, after three weeks of hassle's and NO communication on there part, a technician was… Read more
sent to my house and he figured out the Comm problem plus got in touch with Sungrow Inverters to reset it . I will never in a Million years endorse this Company as I found them extremely rude to deal with and Quite expensive, .
Extremely Happy – Choosing a Solar panel system is like selecting a health fund in Australia. There are far too many options and cost being an important factor. I did my own research and settled down on Canadian Solar Panels (poly) with a Fronius inverter. I have prices quoted from $4,100 to $8,500 for the 6.6kW System to be installed on the roof which is nearly 3… Read more
storey high. Skysolar's price was near the lower end and I was impressed by the salesman Sam. Installation happened as planned and the installer listened to our requirement and installed as requested. It was a little complex because the building being a double brick home. The inverter was installed inside the garage with the panels on the tin roof.
The system is producing at least 40kWh on a sunny day. The system is clipping due to excess capacity being generated by the panels, but I am told that the inverter works efficiently near the inverter capacity. I am happy with my selection of products and the installer.
really dissapointing – Enquired about an upgrade to my system. Really pushy and the salesman knew less than I did about the products he was selling. I opted for a seraphim system with SMA which I was assured was the best they had. Price seemed OK so went ahead. Was let down on two installation dates and then when the panels turned up after some googling found out they… Read more
