Lovely supportive mattress – We have found the Slumberland Chelsea to be a super supportive and comfortable mattress. So much better than previous mattresses we've had Show details
Don’t waste your money – My partner and I are currently at the physio and chiro on average every week because of this mattress, after just over 2 years it’s sagged where we sleep despite turning it and we are not overweight people. I am in constant pain and my partner prefers going away for work and sleeping on nasty mattresses in remote camps because it’s better than… Read more
this. We are trying to do a warranty but it’s been made extremely difficult. We know we will have to fight for a refund because there’s no way I’m getting replacement, I’ve already started the process with the ACCC I never had back/neck problems before this and I feel completely broken. It has been affirmed by healthcare professionals dealing with my musculoskeletal issues
Ok mattress, bought from Snooze – We bought this queen as a spare room mattress in October 2019, didn’t get much use at first mainly for visitors. Have used it a little of late and whilst it won’t match up to some of the better mattresses out there it’s ok for the money Show details

Amazing mattress, no partner disturbance!! – The Slumberland Chelsea mattress is amazing. My partner and I had a few mattresses in quick succession before the Chelsea that were terrible, a latex one from Ikea that was hard as rocks and we woke in pain and a memory foam/latex mattress which was too soft and you sunk into and gave us both terrible dreams, not sure why and a sore neck. So we… Read more
spent lot of time testing out new mattresses in Harvey Norman, Forty Winks and Snooze, our criteria was that we wanted a spring mattress after so much trouble with memory foam and latex. We were willing to spend more also and tried all the higher up lines that Slumberland had (like the Devon) but we kept coming back to this one, even though the lady in the shop (Snooze) said it was for teenagers and was a lower range and didn't really want to sell us this one. The Chelsea mattress is actually the firm sprung mattress from this range from Slumberland with a memory foam top, which is why they class it as a plush. It provides adequate and strong/firm support but is soft on top, so it's snuggly but you don't sink into it. I now sleep soundly every night and wake with no aches and pains (which I got from both previous mattresses) and both myself and my partner can't believe how good and comfortable it is. There is also no partner disturbance at all so you don't feel when the other person moves or gets out of bed. And ours did not smell at all as other posters have said about the Slumberland range. We bought ours on sale for around $1100 for a king size which is normally $1899. We also bought a beautiful recycled pine bed for a bargain price of $599 for King size! It looks amazing is so sturdy and smells divine.
Terrible bed base – The Chelsea mattress is ok, the Slumberland bed base is genuinely unusable. Every time you move it sounds like your in a thunderstorm. Thought it was faulty so had it replaced with a new one, same problem. Cheap. Show details
Worked well for me (side sleeper). Few words of caution though – I am a side sleeper. For the first few months of owning this mattress, I fell asleep within a few minutes of lying down. I sleep much better compared to my previous mattress. I needed about 45 minutes to get to sleep with my previous mattress which was a cheap hand-me-down medium firm mattress. There is great support even though this is a… Read more
extra-plush mattress. I only have a single sized Chelsea mattress, but I believe that if there was a child jumping on the mattress or a partner moving about on a larger size Chelsea mattress, I doubt I'll be able to feel the movement. I can't describe it clear terms, but it feels like a quality mattress and I believe it should last.
I have a few words of caution, similar to the other comments on this website about other Slumberland mattresses. I had to let the mattress "air" for the first 3 weeks. It gave a reasonably strong chemical smell. I had to have all the windows open and leave the mattress without a protector or sheet to let the air remove the chemical smell when I wasn't sleeping. I asked the salesman this and he said it wasn't necessary. Clearly they are wrong here. When sleeping for these first two weeks, I had to keep the bedroom door and windows open so I didn't suffocate in the chemical smell.
This mattress can be quite hot in summer. Now in March where the evenings are around 20 C, I'm still finding that I need to sleep shirtless and without a blanket. I hope Slumberland can remove the hot mattress effect for future models. It is almost like sleeping on an electric blanket.
The mattress needs to be paired correctly with a suitable pillow to get a good sleeping posture. I noticed while trialing different mattresses in store at Snooze, that the type of pillow greatly affect the how the mattress felt. In the store there were different pillows at different mattresses, as such I needed to carry one of the in-store trial pillows with me to correctly compare different mattresses. Also once I got the mattress home, I needed a bit of trial and error with different height pillows to get the right posture and sleep.
