I absolutely love this stove and oven to cook with. I have had several issues with the door breaking, but the after sales/service team have been excellent in looking after replacements. Show details

What a disappointment But Smeg came to the rescue – ********************************After this review, Smeg have now completed all repairs ************************ ********************************Thank You Smeg! I had been looking forward to getting a bid shinny SMEG oven for soooo long. We have had our SMEG for 6 years and there has only been one year where something did not go wrong. Only a 12… Read more

mths warranty on such an expensive items is ridiculous. But I now know why. First year was great no issues. Second year the LED's started to go on the clock- not covered under warranty. Third year- kept blowing fuses everytime I turned on the stove. - BIG electrical bill due to needing to pull apart oven to find loose attachment causing the trouble. Fourth & ongoing- Oven door does not close properly. Loses heat and I have to put something against the door to keep closed. Called repair person in our area

Unable to fix as need to turn Oven upside down to get to the hinges to fix. He was not willing to do this as not covered by his warranty or insurance for damages. ^^^^^^^^^Found out this was not the case! He just did not want to fix the issues! ^^^^^^

Trying to deal with the company started being a nightmare, so went back to Harvey Norman and they were good, but their hands were tied due to no warranty.

It would be better if the clock worked!! – Lovely Stylish cooker, the oven looks beautiful, cooktop works a treat..... BUT.....It would be better if the clock worked!! I have noted here that some reviews have a problem with the clock not working at the time of installation of brand new SMEG freestanding cookers. We have had this identical problem this week. Our installer had another… Read more

similar issue recently. Is this not an issue that SMEG should be checking before they leave the factory if this is a know fault? Where is the quality control with these expensive cookers that most have to wait months to receive here in Australia? Is this being addressed with SMEG in Italy? We are pretty peeved, as a lot of customers would be, at having to have a brand new appliance repaired before we even use it!!

Not happy with middle floating glass that exploded – I’ve had my new smeg freestanding oven for 13 months during a kitchen reno. I was very happy with it until the glass in the middle section of the door exploded just after I had closed the door to take out the food I was grilling. I followed the instruction manual as I hadn’t grilled before and did everything correctly. I am so lucky that the… Read more

glass didn’t explode in my face as I mentioned I had just taken a tray out of the oven. I contacted smeg head office and was referred to Melbourne based company who obviously do the repairs / replacements. I am now having to wait for over a month to have a replacement as apparently there are no models in Australia. I am really considering asking for a refund and buying a different brand. It is the Matt black model not stainless but with the same product number FS9608XS. Not happy

Not happy – Got oven delivered , had electrician here to wire up, contacted retailer to be assured it was to be hard wired. Oven arrived no it has a plug. Get electrician back to connect. All excited turn on the power no clock, turn on and off again no clock great , can’t use without clock what a stupid design. Had power checked at oven all good. Contacted retailers now the wait to be fixed. Not happy.  Show details

Can't beat this for value – I have been so use to my old Westinghouse 6 burner cooktop. When the old when had to be replaced I wanted the 12mj burner in centre at the front. Not much choice on the market until I found this one. And I find it more efficient to use and easy to clean. Show details

Strike 3 Smeg – 3 things that could be considered minor, but when you add them up, it’s just not good enough... 1. Upon installation, the oven didn’t work because the clock didn’t. Sorted quickly, clock replaced. All good. Annoying but oh well, these things happen 2. Shiny silver ring has what looks like rust or water stains. Definitely can’t be removed, despite… Read more

trying all things suggested by the lovely man I spoke to on the phone. Again, annoying, and I really would like it replaced, but haven’t pushed for it. Yet. 3. And this is the deal breaker: I bought the oven in May and noticed advertising in the shop about an extended warranty. Oven delivered in June, but, due to COVID, kitchen renovation was delayed and so it wasn’t installed until August. I registered the warranty on line, but there was nothing about the extended warranty. There was nothing on my receipt about it and there was nothing in the paperwork inside the oven that I found when the oven was installed. I hoped it was applied, but wasn’t sure. In the shop in September and noticed the ad again so went online to sort it out, only to find I couldn’t. Contacted Smeg only to be told that I had missed the cut off date so I missed out on the warranty. I spoke to a second person and was told the same thing. I asked how I was expected to know to register the oven within a certain time. Apparently I was meant to read the fine print on the poster in the shop and remember...really?

So I jumped on here to register my opinion and noticed that [Name Removed] from Smeg often responded to reviews with his email address, so, rather than register a less than glowing review, I emailed [Name Removed]. Not sure if he is still in the job, but he hasn’t replied...

Given the challenges we all face with COVID, not the least of which for me has been delays in getting renovation works done, surely Smeg could honour their ad and provide the warranty as advertised, given that I did buy it within the time frame and I did register the warranty as soon as the oven was installed. Feels like false advertising to me :(

Happy to hear from you Smeg, especially given issues highlighted in other reviews...I am keen to get the 5 year warranty.

Door Hinges – I recently contacted Smeg to advise that the door of our 18 month old oven was no longer closing properly. I also sent photos to show the problem. I received a response from Steve Cullen (National Service and Spare Parts Manager) within the hour and a follow up call from Smeg the next day to book in a technician visit. The technician Lloyd,… Read more

arrived on time and replaced the hinges promptly as well as ordering a new seal which was split. I was initially reluctant to advise of the problem as I wasn't confident of a positive outcome but I am glad I did! Excellent customer service from Steve and professional and friendly service from Lloyd the technician. Highly recommended and very happy!

Poor door design – Purchased FS9608xs in June 2017 only to have the door hinges replaced twice so far. Door is made up of 3 pieces of glass. The middle glass is free floating with rubber bumpers and if you knock the door during cooking, this glass shifts popping the inner retaining glass out and then the door does not close. You have to wait for the oven to cool before fixing and all baking goes to the bin. Really shocking design and I am not happy.  Show details
