This dishwasher has flooded my floor twice and decided to break again last week by flashing the snowflake symbol. Had for about 6 years so just out of warrenty. Interface hard to understand l. Would I reccomend, def not. Save yourself the hassle and find something else. Thinking I should cut my losses and not fix for a fourth time. Show details
Wash twice and plates and pots still dirty – Do not buy. Used for 11 months, always left scum inside the walls and residue on plates. Would also clean it daily but never helped. Eventually it developed orange scum around the drain that only bleach would remove. Took it to the tip still in 'working' order. Piece of junk. Show details

Excellent – Been using dishwasher for well over 3 yrs and haven’t had an issue in that time. Very quiet as well.
NOT JUST GOOD LOOKS – I had never considered a Smeg product before and I'll be honest I originally purchased this product because of its looks. I have had it 6 months now and although I cant comment on the life span what I can say is I really like it. It cleans well, the water gets really hot, the drying stage makes everything sparkle, there are heaps of settings to… Read more
choose from and it looks good with my black granite bench top.
What I really like though is the small tray at the top of the machine where you can individually place your cutlery , leaving heaps more space in the other trays for larger items making it more efficient to run and the cutlery comes out sparkling
The settings panel is a little confusing to start with as you need to hold in each button to get it to work, also in the middle of the cycle it will start to blink?? I cant work out why, everyone thinks its on delay but it does keep working must be some kind of part of the program, also as stated by others it makes a clink half way through the wash like it is tuning itself off but all of this does not affect the outcome.
At this stage I have not had any trouble with it and it is the 3rd dishwasher I have purchased. Would highly recommend it over any others I have had in the past.
So disappointed – OK. Brand new dishwasher. First cycle the powder dispenser opens but leaves the powder inside now as a solid lump. The dishwasher is SO wet inside that you can't stop water droplets falling all over the dishes. Rinse aid was used - since this is always asked. Smeg support tells me its because of the steam and you need to open the dishwasher after… Read more
its finished to let it escape!! Really!! So stand there at 2am because your dishwasher has a design flaw. As for the powder, I am told the top spray arm has been blocked somehow from getting to the powder? With what? The breakfast bowls along the front rack? Or your cutlery tray? Or the handle of the rack itself? Another design flaw perhaps?

Poor quality door surface rusts and peels off – This dishwasher has the usual appealing Smeg design. However the materials used are substandard. Three times in five years the surface of the door and control panel have started to peel. Underneath this peeling are small areas of rust on the "stainless steel", which may be the source of the problem. Twice Smeg has come and replaced the whole door.… Read more
Now that we are out of warranty Smeg will send a technician at our expense to install new parts which we also pay for. Seeing as the problem is obviously systemic there's no point repeating that extremely expesive process over and over for the life of the machine. I've read about this problem in other reviews since I purchased the dishwasher. It is now happenning to the door of our Smeg oven as well. (The dials on the oven turned out to be plastic with a silver finish. More poor quality materials.) I suppose Smeg are more than aware of the peeling problem but find it cheaper to replace some parts for the short warranty period, for the number of people who get around to it, than to use quality materials. I wouldn't buy Smeg again.

Washes well – We used to have a Bosch dishwasher which was quite good but recently stopped working. We were looking at another Bosch but the salesman showed us this smeg. The smeg comes with a 10 year parts and labour warranty (conditions apply) which Bosch does not have. The Smeg was made in Italy for under a $1000 (on sale). To purchase the Bosch (made in… Read more

This dishwasher cleans the dishes really well, and quietly too! In fact, we have to listen closely to make sure it is working. It does make a slight clunking sound as it moves through the different stages. The cutlery drawer doesn’t slide as smoothly as the other two drawers but I prefer to use it over the bucket. I don’t have to manoeuvre my pots and pans around.
There isn’t a lot of space between the height of drawers. If you have tall items in the cup/glass drawer it interferes with the cutlery drawer etc. The drawers themselves don’t seem as big as my old Bosch even though the unit is the same size as my old Bosch. But I think that drawers in all brands are getting smaller as my mum has a Bosch and the drawers are similar to mine.
All in all, for the price, I am happy with this Smeg. It is very attractive and does a good job.
This dishwasher makes me so happy!! Sparkling dishes every time even on eco-mode – Sparkling dishes every time even on eco-mode. The manufacturers of Smeg dishwasher think of everything that you need from the dishwasher but primarily what makes it a real winner is sparkling shiny dishes every time even when they’re using the economical mode to save energy and water. Features that I love: Are firstly the rotating spray arms… Read more
which have an extra mini rotating spray arm at the end of the arm which means that the water sprays everywhere and doesn’t miss a corner of the dishwasher.
Secondly:
The adjustable height of shelves can adjusted very easily with a simple squeeze of the side bars There is a rack on the very top of the dishwasher for cutlery etc which I didn’t particularly want because I thought it would reduce the capacity to take high objects on the lower shelves, but because of the adjustable heights of the shelves below it has not been an issue. However if it is an issue the top cutlery rack can be removed and there is a normal cutlery basket which can be placed on the lower rack of the dishwasher instead . This gives you maximum flexibility.
The lower rack of the dishwasher has two rows of plate racks, one of these rows of plate shelves can be flattened to allow the placement of larger dishes without bending the plate racks, this allows pots and pans actually sit flat on the lower level and does not make the pans stick up and obstruct the spray arm above. However due to the adjustable height shelves this would not occur anyway. This is not the first time I have used a smeg dishwasher. I have had a previous model in a place that I was staying and I was also very impressed with that but this new version seems to allow more more economical modes which save on water. This particular model allows hot water connection which frees up my laundry taps so that the washing machine can have sole use of the cold water and the dishwasher can have sole use of the hot water, the instruction manual says the hot water usage reduces the running timer for machine by 20 minutes and also cuts down on energy bills, I’m not sure whether it does reduce energy bills I have no way of measuring this however it would be great for people with solar heated water.
I cannot say how pleased I am with the results of this machine the ease of adapt it to what I need in terms of space. I start the dishwasher stacking and keep finding more and more space to put things in it seems to have enormous capacity, due to sensible layout and flexiblility and could not recommend a dishwasher any more highly than this. I cannot say how pleased I am with the results of this machine the ease of adaptation to what I need in terms of space I stack the dishwasher and keep finding more and more space to put things in it seems to have an enormous capacity just due to sensible layout and flexible Layout. The dishwasher that I replaced this with was a 20+ year old Meile Which also gave fantastic results that died due to misuse.

Best configuration for dishwasher – I have had a Smeg for just over a year and it needed a replacement part on the catch. Smeg were great, they replaced the dishwasher with a newer model which has 3 shelves, top one for cutlery as well as a basket. It is the best configuration and washes my dishes super clean. Probably too many programs to choose from but being able to adjust the rinse aid is also a great feature. Show details
As quiet as a mouse – Must admit, I've only had this dishwasher for a few months, but it is the quietest dishwasher I've ever had. Cleans really well too. Very happy with this product so far. Show details
Good customer service – The machine broken down before, with the door lock issue and they have it fix. Glad that they were able to do that even in covid time. I don't normally rinse my dishes and they usually come out very clean, only handful of time have residual left were because of the machine being over loaded or the plastic container moved by the water jet Show details

Door latch – We have had this new since mid 2020. In 2021 the whole door latch mechanism had to be replaced under warranty. The door latch has now broken again in mid 2023 (out of warranty). Based on my experience and the other comments on here it seems this is a design fault in this model of dishwasher. I called Smeg and they will come and replace as a… Read more
gesture of goodwill. I spoke to a technician over the phone and pointed out that this had happened again, and asked if there had been other issues in this model with the door latch. He declined to comment and was very evasive when questioned. I would rather they just be honest and say that if there are any issues in future, whether still under warranty or not, that it will be fixed rather than have to go through a pleading process each time. I would not buy again.

On-going issues – I had issues as soon as days after the purchase. Have had the device serviced on 3 separate occasions (door latch broke, split hose, float device faulty & flooding). When it has worked (which to be fair has been maybe 1/3 of the time I have had it), it did a poor job of washing/drying the dishes.... It was easier washing by hand than putting one… Read more

I am again awaiting a repair under warranty however will be requesting a refund given the issues I've had.

Dishwasher grief – Loved this dishwasher until just shy of 34mths when I couldn’t start it. Oops out of warranty. No error code as the control panel didn’t work even though power to the unit was ok. No easy fix. What ever happened to quality & reliability. Thought a $1000 dishwasher would last @ least 10 yrs or even 5. Hmm clearly regardless of technology advancements we remain prisoners of advertising & a good sales pitch. Show details · 2

Smeg DWA6314X (Stainless Steel) will not start – Dishwasher won't start even though turned on. Rinse aid light is on, but this should not affect the wash cycle. Any suggestions or is there an issue with the machine? Tried turning it off and on to no avail. Manual is very basic and has limited trouble shooting examples. Anyone experienced this before? Not happy, waste of money – Unfortunately this dishwasher is unreliable. We have had numerous issues with it including faulty latches and it not washing properly due to faulty parts. Now a month out of warranty the machine is throwing a leak error and refusing to complete wash cycles. For the money paid, I am extremely disappointed. I don’t think we will pay for the repair as we would rather put the money towards a good dishwasher. Feeling disappointed and ripped off. Show details

Ok if you purchase for a child to wash their toy tea sets – Absolute rubbish. Most confusing controls I have ever come across. Internal design the worst I have ever had. Can not fit anything standard in the basket racks. The top rack is useless if the cutlery rack is left in place. Purchased a complete Smeg appliance set for my new kitchen and purchase the Dishwasher to suite. Wish I had put more thought to it before hand. Worst purchase I have ever made. Show details
