Drips oil, halogen bulbs are fiddly to replace – Have had this since a kitchen renovation in 2105, and since shortly after installation has reliably dripped oil back onto the cooktop. Doesn't seem to matter how often the filters are put through the dishwasher as the oil is accumulating on the fan motor body above. We have it internally vented due to being a sealed house envelope, and it's… Read more

terrible when frying or grilling - the house fills with smoke! As a plus it's pretty quiet on the lowest fan, but max fan is deafening, and doesn't seem to do much more. Looking to replace it now as it doesn't seem to do a great deal, although the dripping oil indicates it at least extracts some oil from the air. It's a shame, as I bought on the Smeg brand reputation, and may as well have got something cheaper.

I was sad when it died after 7 years, then SMEG fixed it for free!!! – I purchased the Smeg K181V60 rangehood not based on price, but on the build quality, it was by far the quietest rangehood at all settings, which is important as I like to listen to music while cooking. Worked well until the last few months, when it started cutting out expect in speed two, but if I switched the light on it also then cut out. I… Read more

emailed steve.cullen@smeg.com.au and he rung me within 24 hours and offered to fix it free of charge, even though it was 7 years or so old. Was blown away by this offer, as I was looking at $336 just for the part I believed it needed to be fixed, but I wasn't even sure that would fix it.

Steve passed my details onto my local Smeg repairer Metropolitan Appliance Service, they where quick and great communicators, all up 9 days from contacting Steve at Smeg, the part was fitted and my rangehood is now running like new, now that's amazing service even if I paid full price, but it was totally free!

Happy customer that will be fitting Smeg appliances into his new home for sure.

Cheers

Very Very Disappointed in SMEG brand – This appliance was the option provided for us from our builder for our newly built home. It looks great in our modern kitchen and I believed it would be a long lasting appliance due to its brand name. I was wrong!! This rangehood failed after only 4 years!! I've had appliances from different brands which lasted much much longer. The service… Read more

fee from Smeg was $170 just to be told that it could be the main/display or the fan motor. The repairman was not sure. I was sent an invoice for an extra $583. I am now certain that I will never purchase a Smeg appliance ever again!!! And I will certainly never recommend Smeg to anyone.

Dissapointing – This range hood started to malfunction about two or three years after we puchased it. In the first instance, It did not work with both fan and light on at the same time and progessivlely deteriorated to the point of the fan working occassionally on the low speeds. It is important to note that the product is now eight years old but we also had a… Read more

Smeg oven which needed replacing and the replacement then had issues with the thermostat. The repairs cost us as the oven was out of warranty and due to this we hesitated in calling Smeg for a service on the range hood which is now also out of warranty. The question here is why does such a prestige brand which is priced accordingly need to be serviced after a relatively short amount of time? I wrote to Smeg today and the reply was to book in for a service, this of course will be at our expense. There was no acknowledgement or responsiblity taken on their part.

Leaking Oil! – I have had this rangehood for three and a half years and recently it has been leaking grease. I clean the three filters on a regular basis however the oil seems to be coming out of the large drum/fan inside and I cant get to it to clean it. It is disgusting and embarrassing. I always have to be careful that the grease does not drip into the food that I am cooking. What can I do about it? Does smeg service these?

Exhaust Motor Stopped Working Full Of Oil – Very disappointed to have this product fail after selecting due to brand thinking it was going to last and not have to be serviced!!! One light has been tripping out which is frustrating!!! NOW the exhaust fan isn't operating has power but the unit is covered in oil. I am scared to think the expenses for repair and having my splashback cut to suit… Read more

Terrible – Good unit that suits a modern kitchen. Strong exhaust and easy to handle filters. the light globes seem to burn out easily but they are simple to replace. This unit looks good and works well. In the event of a power spike / dip the unit stops working. The fan and the lights both fail. to get it started again all that is needed is to turn the power off for a few seconds. It is an expensive service call just to flick a switch.
