Doesn't do its job as a Rangehood – We had bought the house with items already installed. My wife likes to cook but this rangehood does not do what its supposed to do, collect steam and fats. are not working. Very disappointing from a brand that I thought was to be a good household brand for kitchen appliances.

SMEG Rangehood not turning off – I woke at midnight to find the range hood on and I couldn't not stop it..then the light wouldn't go off...after a few hours it all crap down!! I have no idea how to turn off the main power supply - i am not happy with SMEG.... our kitchen is just over 3 years old and this is dangerous.

Excellent customer service – Our Rangehood worked well for 5 years and then the unit turned its self on and we were unable to turn off. Good one-bit noisy – My new home came with this SMEG range-hood, This range hood is good, suction is good removing all smoke. Fantastic customer service – Unit worked very well for around 4 years, then lights became unreliable and unit started by itself during the night. One quick email to Smeg service dept was all it took. Repairs arranged within a day, all to agreed timing, and at no cost. Unit working perfectly again. The Smeg customer service experience in my opinion has been really exceptional. Sales rep said it would be quiet. SO wrong!! – New house build, purchase based on Smeg reputation and sales advice that this would be quiet. So wrong! Can’t hear anyone talk when running. Checked with meter; 74dB on low, 80 on high. Smeg customer service followup was good; they sent someone to check it, who said the ducting was incorrectly installed, but once it was repaired it only lowered the noise by around 10 decibels, still too loud to talk in the same room. Show details

Extractor doesn't seem to suck – Extractor is literally just out of warranty and is not sucking anything and hasn't done for some time. Makes all the right noises so thought it was just me. For a product to sound like it is working and only to find out that it is not when a small amount of smoke circulates through the house and set's off your fire alarms does not help anyone. Show details

Doesn't really reflect the SMEG quality – We're quite familiar with the brand SMEG and we've already owned several in the past. We always think that SMEG is synonymous to quality so when we saw that this was included in our recent home build, we didn't bother upgrading it. contrary to their claim of 51-61 dBA. I've used a sound level meter and I've recorded on average 70dBA in the lowest fan setting which is loud. Sorry but disappointed overall

Annoying and taken advantage of – Our smeg rangehood- pum901x fan will not turn off! It is very loud and apparently there are no technicians for a week. One month out of warranty and must pay to fix it! Not happy at all! We have had other companies fix appliances out of warranty for free!

middle of the night! Now the unit will not turn on at all. Obvious control panel fault which is common in reviews for this Model. We have had several much cheaper branded range hoods over the years in new builds and never had any problems. The SMEG PUM90X series range hoods are an extremely poor product. Buyer beware.

Too noisy – The range hood was supplied by a volume builder in a new house and the 3 speeds seem almost identical so the lowest speed is too loud to use for basic cooking. Only have it on when we desperately have to otherwise we don’t even use it. Very unhappy with it  Show details

Disppointed Customer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! – Identical problems as described in other reviews. Switches on and off when it wants to. Difficult to access and repair switch panel. Virtually got to pull apart the entire overhead cupboard to get to the switches. It is obvious why it has ben discontinued. SMEG has not done itself any favours with this product.  Show details

Rangehood not working – Our SMEG range hood is about 5 years old. I’m disappointed as I thought we were buying quality but the switches must be jammed? I can only have the unit on or off and can’t choose between light and fan and it’s only going middle speed. The switch panel is going up into the unit – When I renovated my kitchen nearly 3 years ago I bought all SMEG appliances thinking I am buying quality well this unit is certainly below par, have had the same problem of switch not going on and then hard or can't turn off now the whole switch panel is going through the unit I then have to take out the filters and press it back down :-)  Show details

AWFUL--doesn't work!! – We have the EXACT same problem with the PUM90x Would randomly turn on, then not turn off. the new switch! He said everything else was fine and all we really needed was the new buttons for on/off and fan speed but unfortunately they were sold in a large pack of stuff i didn't need. I didn't want to spend that money on an inherent flaw in this Smeg product. So we now have a ranged that doesn't work. I am not impressed with Smeg.

fan speed or would just default to full speed but can also hear the faint beeps as you would when pressing a button (but often difficult to hear while unit is running). i just hope i get the same response from Smeg as some others have, as my unit is also out of warranty but clearly its an inherent fault on this device. Worst part is the fact that its an undermount and cabinetry was designed around it! We are such fans of their ovens, my wife figured we should stick to the same brand....I should just blame my wife!

Pain to fit and poor quality – Product has gone down hill, now made cheap in china pain to fit and i would not recommend anymore. Materials used are not the quality of what the brand use to stand for. The lights are not well designed and are difficult to fit. Cover on the unit is thin and don't fit well.  Show details

It's turn on by it self – After reading this my heart will be put in rest as I thought there is a ghost in my house. Extremely noisy – This fan was put into my new house by the builder. Maybe it was on special. I have never had such a noisy fan. My last house had a huge 120 cm wide Qasair which was so much quieter. This Smeg is deafening. I cannot stand having to use it.  Show details

Stopped working after warranty expiration – Our SMEG PUM90X has stopped working and cannot be turned on. I can see now that this is a common fault in this model. I've contacted SMEG and it would cost over $200 for a technician to turn up and have a look at it including 15 minutes. For a product to fail just after warranty from a reputable brand is not meeting expectations for price point.  Show details

Started turning itself on randomly!! – I purchased this rangehood when we purchased our new SMEG stove. While this unit was always noisy, it started turning itself on about 6 months ago and it had to be turned off at the powerpoint. I just tried turning it back on last night and it did it again. Certainly not what I expected from SMEG.

Just out of warranty and it fails – Bought this along with all other Smeg appliances for my kitchen. As described in similar reviews below the thing is just dead. Started off with a faulty switch panel which I worked around by turning it on and off at the power point (Pain in the bum). Now it completely wont work. I hope all my other Smeg gear wont fail in the short term as well.

Very noisey unit – Can't believe how noisey this unit is. I've had it for only 3 months and want to change it already. We went with SMEG oven and rangehood because of its good brand name and was told the rangehood ran "whisper quiet". Very disappointed. At this stage I regret not reading up on the reviews about this unit.

Just out of warranty and its dead – The unit stopped working entirely approximately 6 months out of warranty. Nothing works at all..no lights, no fan, nothing. I thought that the SMEG brand would be more reliable than this. VERY, VERY disappointed home owner that chose SMEG brand over all others. Not the best, very noisy and can't turn on or off! – My unit has ran out of warranty and seems like I'm having the same problems as a lot of the reviews. The unit will not turn on at times and does not turn off either, like today I had to remove the bulkhead to disconnect the power to switch off. I called today only to find out that it would probably cost nearly half the amount of what I paid for it to be repaired. NOT HAPPY!!! Also it is very loud.

Absolute Rubbish – Unit 2.5 years old. Switch circuit goes haywire and turns itself on in middle of night. Bad design and switch is not sealed properly and steam short circuits it. Just 6 months out of warranty. Smeg refuses to fix. I managed to get switch out and try to order replacement. Smeg wants $220 for a switch? Are you serious? Also very noisy. Never Smeg again!

Average product, but more importantly fantastic after sales product support from SMEG – Rangehood unit was near end of warranty period, control pad played up and fan wouldn't turn off. Smeg Australia responded very quickly with great support. Unit fixed with new circuit boards at no charge to the customer. Always happy to pay more for a product if I know the manufacturer will support the customer. Please note the rating is for SMEG's after sales support, not necessarily the PUM90X product.

Was great UNTIL it started turning on by itself!!! – This has been a great unit until recently when it started to turn on by itself!. Obviously a common fault and should be recalled. Just because it costs more doesn't always mean it's better. Apart from this obvious fault the appliance has worked extremely well and does it's job but it gets really expensive when it turns on by itself and is on all bloody night!

So so disappointed as i thought I was buying a high quality, premium product, from a well known, reputable brand - even more frustrated to read so many with the same issue as mine! Possessed! Has mind of its own! – The smeg pum90x is noisy. Starts up in the middle of the night by itself and then can't be stopped until unscrewing and unplugging. Unreliable. Over engineered electronic controls. Starts at anytime by itself as faulty controller and dull leds.
