My SA8605x bottom wash arm is not working, spinning. I have tried, checked that the 1/2 wash button wasn't on(no), removing arm and cleaned out (clean), cleaning main filter (clean). It's liken it si stuck on 1/2 wash. Any ideas? Thanks
Hi Indiandme,
It sounds like it could be stuck on the half wash cycle and will require a service call to repair the half wash valve.
Please call our Service Department on 02 8667 4833 to arrange this.

It appears no water is entering the washer, tablet is not wet however heating is still taking place and a red light remains on. Any ideas?
I’m not sure, but the first thing I would check is the water inlet filter. Take the water hose off and check if the filter is blocked.

does the Smeg SA8605X dishwashers have error codes - and where do you find them?
Unfortunately I am unsure if the dishwasher uses error codes. the faults i experienced each time had to be traced by the Smeg technician.
Hi Ray it dose have error codes they are in the instruction book if you do not have the instruction book go to the web site external link go to menu, services, instruction book type in DWA315X it is a later model but the error codes are the same.

Thanks for the info Chris
My Smeg Dishwasher is tripping the safety switch. I'm trying to work out if it's worth replacing. Any ideas? Many thanks
Hi, you can try two options, 1. leave off for a week or two then try it again. Apparently the heater unit can get condensation or moisture inside the electrical side which causes a short circuit (tripping the safety switch), after it completely dries out you should be able to use the dishwasher normally without further issue.
2. if that doesn't work you can engage a service tech to replace the heater unit. (approx. several hundred dollars) which we did and ours no longer trips the switch.
Hope this helps.
Hi Jaqui, our Smeg SA8605W dishwasher was tripping the safety switch which was being caused by the heater unit. Although ours was out of warranty, I contacted Smeg and they sent a service tech out and replaced the heater unit for free. That was about 6 months ago and the dishwasher has worked faultlessly since.
Before I contacted Smeg, I priced the heater unit for our model which was around $230 and if you're not handy enough to change it yourself then with the added cost of a technician doing the job, it might be worth paying a few extra $$ to get a new dishwasher if you have to pay for it yourself.
Cheers, Danny.
If it doesn't heat up to dissolve wash powder or the tablet, has the programing chip had it or would it be the heating element?
It's difficult to fault find remotely, but if the machine is operating as would be otherwise expected (performs usual wash cycle), then I would look at the element first and the wiring to it. Best left to an electrically trained person with the tools required
If there is a problem with heating the water, then error code E3 should be showing. Also check that you are running a normal wash cycle and not the "Soak" or "ECO" cycles which are colder cycles.
