Smeg SAM34CXI

This was a bad purchase – This product performs adequately as a microwave, however, its additional functions leave much to be desired. If I could go back, I would have opted for a standalone microwave instead. The other features are not effective, and had I made a simpler purchase, I would have saved a significant amount of money. Happy with Smeg after sales service - design still not good – 2nd edit: a technician was sent out by Smeg & he replaced the globe. It took 5 minutes all up. Could not have been happier with the young man that came. He was delightful. Thank you Smeg. I appreciate your responsiveness to our issue.I have increased my rating based on the company’s response. Edit: Smeg reached out to me following my review… Read more · 1
which I very much appreciated. They have organised a complimentary service call for the repair. Will update if things change.
We purchased a Smeg microwave/conversion SAM34CX1 oven & we are REALLY unhappy with the product. Our light has gone out & to replace it we have to get a technician in at the EXORBITANT cost of $180. The oven is not 5 years old & was an expensive machine. This is not good enough @SMEGAU. Poor design. Will not be buying smeg again.
Woeful – We brought this microwave to replace our 10 year old Smeg Microwave that blew up. This microwave is far worse than our original one. The user interface is terrible, you can add the time in 30sec increments. It takes longer to heat up food than our old one & it heats the crockery way more than the food somehow. It also heats very unevenly - you… Read more
will have to stop it half & mix you food. It has other features I assume but the instructions have been put through Google translate & make no sense - so good luck working it out. Also, it has coil whine - so if you have sensitive hearing you can hear it’s high pitched squeal whenever you walk by it. Do not buy this microwave unless you absolutely have to - by an LG or Panasonic instead & save yourself $200.
Disapointed – I purchased the sam34cxi for the functions and found that the griller only operates at low temperatures so ends up being an oven. To test the function after not having grilled effectively it took 10 minutes to brown a piece of bread ... Show details
Disappointed – Bought this Microwave/convection oven after having a different brand for 18 years. Very happy with the microwave function but not impressed with the convection/combi. Everything I have tried has taken much longer than it should and sometimes does not brown. Only goes to 200C (old one did to 220C). Also the instruction Booklet is very basic. Combi… Read more
cooking just says turn to C1, C2 C3 or C4 but not what that means or which food it suits. I am very disappointed in this and would not recommend to anyone who like myself uses the convection function regularly.
Rolls Royce Of Microwaves!!!!!! – After returning a Ariston hotpoint (Garbage) ((cheaply made and globally sold under many different names)) I just received my SMEG SAM34CXI yesterday and I absolutely love it!, I put frozen cauliflower and brocolli in cheese sauce on at 200c for 23 mins, then stirred and added cheese, then put in for another 22 mins, Then Boom!!! the cheese was… Read more
perfectly browned on top and cooked thru perfectly.
What makes this so amazing, is that it used alot less electricity than my oven and got better results.
Its also much quieter than most microwaves as the inverter does a great job and sounds much like a commercial cooking machine.
Once you read the instructions, its extremely easy to understand, As its seems intuitive, but like all good things, thier is more too learn about its capabilities, so dont just turn it on and go with the pictures you see, because youll miss out on so much more :-)
Im not too sure if Vickis potatoe was cryogenically frozen, but as i said, i cooked frozen food with sauce at 200c perfectly with the reccomended cooking times on the vegtables, whilst also adding and having the cheese brown evenly.
PROS
real stainless, STRONG pull open/shut handle (not breaky loud button mechanism door), modern interior i.e cool white lighting and shiney silver interior. easy to read clock. quieter than most microwaves..
CONS
Its that it doesnt have a portable model that i can carry around and show my friends,
Its that dam good!
Id also like to point out, that i rang every microwave brand in australia, aswell as washing machines(another story) lol,
And i dont think its very often that you have a memorable conversation with the staff of a company that care about thier products, but most of all, care about youre purchase,
Seriously, after speaking to brands like LG, Fisher and paykel, Haier, i couldnt believe the lack of knowledge they had on products, let alone care that you actually spent youre hard earnt money on thier brand (thier job).
SMEG care on a new level that i havent seen before and actually know what they are selling,
Hence the reason you don't get inferior crap,
I hope many people read my review and make the decision i have and become a SMEG customer,
Disappointed – I have just purchased this Convection/Microwave Griller. This is my fourth Convection M/wave and I am really disappointed. The convection is terrible. It takes twice as long to cook than any other brand I have had. It only heats up to 200 degrees and doesn’t have a metal turntable so I don’t know if this is why. A jacket potato was still hard after 90mins!!!!! Show details
