terrible toaster that will only toast one side if there is only a single slice in it. it was a very thoughtful gift, and looks great, but a poor excuse for a toaster. Actually toasts – Finally I have found a toaster that actually toast’s! Even cooks crumpets correctly. Yes it is pricey but worth the price for a well cooked piece of toast or crumpet to start my day. Highly recommend Show details

Stylish exterior but rubbish inside – I bought this Smeg toaster 2yrs and 10 months ago from Farmers, Takapuna (Auckland). The element blew yesterday and now it does not function at all. There is a clearly visible break in the element. This was an expensive (NZ$280) toaster and is stylish on the outside, but from my experience as well as all the other reviews, it is very cheap on the inside and not worth its price. Show details

Not impressed – First for the cost they are not that great and would not buy again, only lasted until just out of warranty, that's just 2 years and 1 month, I would expect this to last longer, I've had cheap toasters that last longer way longer, just not worth the money, cheap plastic around the edge unimpressed.

Lots of money for such a short life – First, the good stuff: This toaster looks very stylish. It toasted evenly. Now the bad: It was expensive at around $300 but only lasted three years. It stopped popping up and you had to manually hold it down for it to work. I was so disappointed, I took it to the dump and felt most satisfied when a 20 tonne loader ran over it and made it flat as a tack. Honest Genuine Review – Good Looking toaster, tried Multi-grain sourdough, white bread, and few different brands too. A bigger loaf slice of a multgrain does take a bit of a fiddle to put in properly ( i had a delonghi 4 slice before and didnt have any such issue). Downside -> This 2 slice toaster does need 2 slices to get even toasting, 1 slice only results in uneven toasting (1 side is overtoasted).

Half toasting of bread – I fail to understand why SMEG have not ironed out a very common design fault ie. only one element works not two so toast is only done on one side. Two replacements later I've given up and accepting that my toast is only cooked on one side. Show details

Smeg has now offered a replacement toaster. This service and follow up was outstanding. Simply the best experience in recall of a faulty product.

Quality isn't as great as its look – Bought Smeg Toaster for last year and suddenly just stopped working. Happy to spent extra with the expectation that products will last long, but unfortunately not. However, Great thing about Smeg is their customer service. My faulty toaster and kettle has been replaced and they are pretty fast in responding emails. Hopefully they last longer. Not sure if the warranty will be renewed for the replacement items. Stopped working after 1 day ! – I wish I’d read the reviews before buying this toaster . It’s failed to work properly after only 1 day. The last Breville toaster I had lasted 10 years , I should have stuck with that brand !!.

Ive be also purchased a SMEG kettle at the same time , which I’ll be returning because I wanted everything to match - and I’ ll be trying my best to cancel an online order of a SMEG coffee machine too.

What a disappointment.

This company needs to take a serious look at its quality control.

Worst toaster ever!! – This is honestly the worst toaster I have ever bought. It cooks toast slowly & unevenly & the toast actually pops out onto the bench & behind the toaster once cooked. Within a couple of months the lowering levers warped on one side. Basically you are paying top dollar for the look & that's it. Please don't waste your money. I would never buy a Smeg product ever again.

Worst toaster ever – This toaster would have to be the worst toaster I have ever owned. The quality is poor, and does not cook the toast evenly. I use many varieties of breads plus crumpets and muffins. because of the poor quality the lever sticks on one side. I then have to push it down with wooden tongs. Died after 12 months and their Diamond Service Team failed us – Purchased 10 November 2019. Used approximately 1 or 2 times p/week. Never toasted properly on both sides. & saying a manager would call us, which did not happen, I complained again. Received a 1 line response - "Dear Mark, You can return the toaster to the store for a full refund." Told them their service was atrocious and they should have offered me a refund day 1, not a replacement. They told me they pride themselves on their good service (lol). Never again Smeg.

Second one in less than a year and the heating filaments are gone again! – This is my second SMEG toaster, I’ve been unlucky with the heating elements in both. They become faulty and do not all heat up leaving one side of my toast uncooked. Surely this can’t happen with 2 of their toasters back to back in less than a year??? Very disappointed. 3rd toaster in 3 years due to electrical issues and the 3rd has just failed! – I am currently on my 3rd toaster in 3 years. I am concerned about the safety of this appliance. We are not heavy users, it’s just the 2 of us. We might use the toaster every 2nd or 3rd day. I’ve sent an email so we’ll see what they come back with.

Disappointed again – Smeg did replace my non functioning toaster , but now the replacement will not stay down to allow the toaster to turn on. It is not frequently used , and when I have used it, just used standard slices of bread only. and really shouldn’t malfunction within a short time frame. Terrible- Broke after a year of light use and NO one will help! – My 4 Slice White Toaster Lever will not stay down. I got it 13 months ago got my birthday. It has such light use since I RARELY make toast! It was more of a counter accessory. It’s practically brand new!
