I have waited until this matter was finally resolved before writing this review. The reason for this review is simple: if I were a retiring couple about to spend $60,000, $80,000 or even $100,000 on a caravan to fulfil a lifelong dream, I would want to know exactly what happened to me before making that decision. I purchased my Regent caravan in September 2025 for approximately $60,000. At the time of purchase, the van was less than two years old.

Within weeks, problems began appearing. Initially these included issues with locks, door hardware, electrical systems, the TV aerial, fridge operation and gas-related faults. While frustrating, these were not the issues that ultimately led me to write this review.

The real problem was water ingress.

Looking back through the evidence gathered during this process, it became apparent that the leak had likely existed before I even purchased the caravan. I first formally raised concerns with Regent approximately 13 weeks after purchase when signs of water ingress became evident.

What followed was a process that I can only describe as exhausting.

Although the issue was initially accepted as a warranty matter and repairs were authorised, the repairs failed almost immediately. Within a day of collecting the caravan, water was again entering the van.

Over the following months, the leak worsened significantly.

Water entered living and sleeping areas, internal damage increased, and the caravan became increasingly unusable. What started as a manageable repair ultimately became a much larger problem.

One of the most frustrating aspects was the delay.

Despite the issue being raised early, I repeatedly chased updates and responses while the damage continued to worsen. Had I been told at the outset that the claim would not be supported, I could have arranged private repairs immediately and potentially prevented much of the subsequent damage. Instead, while discussions continued, the water ingress continued.

As the condition of the van deteriorated, the stress became significant.

At one point during a conversation with a warranty representative, I expressed my frustration by saying that I may as well roll the caravan down the hill, set fire to it and post the video online. It was obviously a sarcastic expression of frustration about being left with a caravan that could not be used and which I believed was not going to be repaired.

Following that conversation, police contacted me to conduct a welfare check.

To be clear, they did not attend my home. They simply telephoned me. I explained the circumstances, the dispute and the context of my comments. The officer was professional, courteous and quickly satisfied that there was no issue. Nevertheless, it remains one of the more surreal experiences I have encountered during what was ultimately a consumer warranty dispute.

I also expect Regent may respond by raising the fact that the caravan had been listed on Camplify.

For complete transparency, the caravan was rented on a single occasion. The water ingress issue was already present before that rental occurred. The leak was raised with Regent shortly after purchase, and long before any suggestion was made that rental activity could somehow be responsible.

Importantly, the damage was not caused by any insurable event during a rental period. Camplify's own insurance would not respond because the issue was not caused by a renter. It was a water ingress defect.

Camplify has also publicly stated that the overwhelming majority of caravan manufacturers do not automatically void warranty coverage simply because owners occasionally rent their caravans to help offset ownership costs.

Regardless, no reasonable person could conclude that a single weekend rental created a pre-existing water ingress issue that had already been reported.

Ultimately, it took the imminent commencement of QCAT proceedings before meaningful progress occurred.

Only after legal action became a real possibility did the position change.

Green RV eventually agreed to complete the repairs and, to their credit, advised they would absorb the repair costs and pursue the matter with Regent themselves. However, I believe it is important to note that this occurred only after months of dispute and significant pressure.

The caravan has now been repaired.

However, that outcome came after countless emails, repeated follow-ups, failed repairs, prolonged delays, substantial stress and the looming prospect of legal action.

My concern is not that faults occurred.

My concern is how difficult it was to have a serious water ingress issue addressed on a caravan that was less than two years old.

If you are considering purchasing a Regent caravan, my recommendation is simple:

Do not just inspect the van.

Ask detailed questions about the warranty process, water ingress claims, dealer support and how disputes are handled if something goes wrong.

Because that is when you discover the true value of any caravan manufacturer.

I purchased a Regent/Snowy River Caravan, a Regent RCC206 in April 2022. I've given it a one (1) star rating but if I could give a zero-star rating, I would! I purchased the caravan for one specific reason, so that I would not have to travel the 220 kilometres a day to visit my wife who is bedridden and in care on the Mornington Peninsula and I could take the caravan down and stay for extended periods as I was living in Warragul behind my daughters and son in laws property. It was delivered to my home in Warragul, and before I even turned a wheel the caravan started to fall apart. The cabinetry inside started to collapse, it was leaking water, it was rusting as well as nine (9) other faults that require repairs. After contacting the warranty department and jumping through all the hoops which took 12 months, they finally agreed to repair this poorly constructed caravan. I returned it to the factory with twelve (12) faults that required fixing and requested Regent/Snowy River to comprehensively inspect the caravan as I had been unable to use it, so I was unaware of any other faults. They assured me that they would complete a full inspection and repair the twelve (12) faults. I waited patiently for two (2) months before calling them after receiving no updates or being contacted in any way, asking what was happening to the caravan. The warranty department rang me later in the day to inform me, all repairs had been finalized, and a full inspection of the caravan had been completed. My son in law and I drove out to the factory the following day to collect the caravan and when we went to hook it up to the car the wiring hadn't been repaired, and we were forced to stand around for an hour and a half whilst they found somebody to repair that fault. The person from the warranty department assured us that all repairs had been completed and a full inspection had been conducted. Of course, when I asked for the inspection report they said they would send it to me along with the invoice showing all repairs that had been completed which to date I have still not received. Within a few days I took the caravan down to the Mornington Peninsula to find the warranty department had been deceptive stating that all repairs had been completed as four (4) of the original twelve (12) faults hadn't been addressed. After using the caravan for the first time I realised that a comprehensive inspection couldn't have been conducted as a multitude of further faults were discovered, some quite dangerous and hazardous which I have reported to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). I returned the caravan back to Warragul as it was unsafe and dangerous. I then dealt with various people within Regent/Snowy River's warranty department with little success, including writing five (5) letters (registered) to the CEO with absolutely no response from him. As stated above I purchased this caravan specifically to be close to my wife on the Mornington Peninsula, and after three and a half years and racking up over 160,000 kilometres driving daily from Warragul to Mornington in my Isuzu MUX which I purchased new, specifically to tow the caravan, I've now been forced to use this unsafe and hazardous caravan as I've depleted most of my saving on excessive fuel, service costs, tyres (3rd set now on my car) and of course excessive depreciation due to the high number of kilometres travelled. This caravan has cost me almost everything! When I purchased it I paid the full amount, not one (1) dollar discounted. My decision to choose Regent/Snowy River was based on the caravan design, extensive range and I believed reputation as a large company with the expectation of strong support. In their brochure which I read and naively believed it states on page 2 "Buying a caravan is a lifestyle investment and the wrong decision can prove extremely costly, which is why when you purchase a Regent, we promise to support you as your journey continues" and on page 5 "Before you invest, it's critical that you ensure your caravan manufacturer has stringent quality assurance systems in place. Quality assurance involves a series of checks and processes to ensure that a manufacturer consistently designs and builds their caravans to the highest government and industry standards. Regent caravans are designed and purpose built for Australian roads. Customer safety and satisfaction is our main priority. Our extensive product research and development, both local and overseas, is your piece of mind to many years of happy motoring" These statements from their brochure are entirely at odds with my experience with Regent/Snowy River Caravans.

I have had my caravan now for 20mths during this time I have had to have no less than 20 items repaired under warranty. The worst of it is that the warranty department have denied or ignored my claim to have the delaminating fibreglass on the left side of the van repaired and also ignored the work on the floor as it is stained under the ensuite door due to water leaks. My caravan has now been parked at Auswide caravans since the 20th December 2024 and nothing has been done as far as repairing the faults. I would definitely think twice before buying another Snowy River caravan.
