Sol Republic Tracks HD

Great headphones with a big flaw after half hour or so of use – Purchased my solo hd’s More than 2+ years ago now, as great as the sound quality may be for the price they are shockingly uncomfortable over more than half an hour + of wearing these. Even after bending the band as far back as I can on numerous occasions is is still shockingly tight and small, definitely aimed at children or smaller women/men.… Read more
Bought the HD 2’s a week ago and the new padding is amazing, a bit of pain after 2+ hours or so but nothing like these original HD’s which take least a half hour or so till it’s a relief to remove. However very durable but can’t stress how much an extra $30 is worth it for the HD 2’s.
Amazing sound, minimal comfort – I see why these were discontinued as they hurt my temples if worn for over 30 minutes and I have a below average sized head. Though because the sound was great, I'd be willing to try out sol republic again with an updated model. Still disappointed for the price I paid. Show details
Not bad – Purchased these headphones on a clearance sale. The quality is nice and the headphones are sturdy. I like how you can take the headphones apart and customize them. One con is that it's really tight, I wouldn't say I have a big head but I have had to put my ears through hell to get these headphones to sit comfortably on my head. It gets real painful. My go to headphones! – I purchased a pair of these bad boys a few years ago (2014 I'm pretty sure) for $79 from one of Dick Smiths big sales - Tracks V8. I absolutely adored these headphones, the sound was amazing, they were lightweight & they blocked out a lot of outside noise. I practically used them daily at the gym & they NEVER failed me. The only thing that takes… Read more
away from them is the cord doesn't last too long - one side that connects to one of the ears usually gives out. The first one lasted about two years then I purchased another cord from their online store (that somehow no longer ships internationally :( boo hoo) & that one only lasted a little over a year now I can't use them at all because I can't get my hands on another cord (prefer sol republic brand).
Great Sound Quality But Can Be Uncomfortable – Bought them at a stunner price and was quite happy with the sound quality. The fact you can interchange the bands is really cool as you aren't stuck with one colour scheme until you buy a brand new pair of the headphones. There is quite a lot of bass in the headphones, which I really enjoyed. However, it gets quite uncomfortable if you wear it for… Read more
a decent period of time, and my ears get sore when I use them most of them time, which is a deal killer for these headphones.
Decent without being outstanding – Was able to pick up these headphones on a clearance sale and they're decent without being outstanding. Pretty comfortable for short to medium periods of time, but can imagine on a longer period use, it would become pretty difficult to wear. The band itself is nice and customisable, and also pretty fashionable. Sound quality wise there's nothing… Read more
outstanding about these. Decent bass but without any sound isolation i'm afraid it's more fashion than good sound.
Works well! – Was given these headphones from a friend. The whole interchangeable trait of the headphones makes it really useful to change up styles. The cord broke one day so I was able to search for some on Ebay. Over time I noticed the over ear cushion began to weaken. Outside noise became a bit more audible. And if you wear it over long periods of time, it will cause the ears a mild soreness.
Good but not great – I purchased the Tracks HD's (V10's) to primarily listen to music through my desktop. I wanted some premium headphones, however not to the point that they would require a better source to get the most out of them. I generally listen to bass music with a bit of hip-hop thrown in, so I wanted some bass-strong headphones while still producing high… Read more
clarity mids and highs. The Sol Republic Tracks range include three different versions, the V8 ($129), V10 ($159) and V12 ($229). According to online reviews, the bottom of the line V8's are the strongest in the bass category, however after listening to all three I found the the HD (V10) came out strongest in this category.
After listening to these for a couple of days, I wasn't happy with the 'muddy bass' or the mids. I thought I could get more out of them, however not being 'audiofile' quality I didn't know how much more. I purchased a entry-level headphone amplifier/DAC (Fiio E10 - $78) to see if it would make a difference.. and it did. It completely cleaned the bass and mids up to the point that I couldn't be happier with the V10's. However this meant that I had spent $236 to be happy with them - more than I had planned to spend.
A cool feature of this Tracks series is the fact that the headband is interchangeable. You are able to buy different colours and styles to replace if you want. They are somewhat comfortable, however not as comfortable as I would like them to be. Build quality is also great.
At the end of the day, they are good but not great. I will most likely be using these for another couple of months before upgrading to something more comfortable and better quality. Somewhat comfortable, great quality once hooked up to an amp, good build quality, interchangeable headband, build quality Not the cheapest, poor bass and mids without a good source
