Sonos Sub
MPNs: SUBG1AU1 and SUBG1AU1BLK14 reviews
Stunning bass – Fantastic compliment to Sonos speakers. The wireless connectivity of this sub makes it a stand out the sound for music and movies is perfect. High quality fit build. Would probably recommend white instead of black due it being easier to hide fingerprints, dust and dog hair. Nothing else comes close.
Terrible Product with Non-Existent Support – My Sonos Sub no longer powers up and has completely failed after three years of very light use. I rang up Sonos support and was told that they would not repair the sub, but they would give me a 30% discount code so I could buy a new one from them... but only if I go through the trouble and expense of shipping my old sub back to them... No thanks Sonos - I won't be buying any more products from you ever again! Show details
Like It Lot! – I had a couple of Sono's ONES for a year in my study which I loved but they needed a bit extra at big volume, the SUB MINI did the trick, perfect! Incredible sound at this price point. Show details
Terrible – Lasted just over the 12 months warranty period. Have used approx 20 times only. They create speakers that can’t be repaired, only replaced!!. If they make them so they can’t be repaired then they should have a 3-5 yr warranty. Waste of money. Will NEVER EVER get another Sonos product. Show details
A great addition to the Sonos Arc – When we brought our Sonos Arc, we also brought the Sub that goes with it. If you watch a lot of action movies with that heavy bass the Sonos Sub is perfect. The Sonos Sub like the arc, is extremely easy to set up. If your listening to music or watching a movie the amount of bass that the sub can produce is amazing, there is little to no vibration coming from the sub but you can feel the bass like your in a cinema Show details
Super Base – The Sonos Sub is probably one of the best available in the market. When you paid with Sonos Bar or Sonos Beam you will get a sound quality that's unmatched by rival companies like Bose and will feel like cinema sound system. Set up is very easy over WiFi and can be operated by Sonos app. A little expensive for a sub, however worth evey penny!! Show details
Great Sub although a little expensive – When I had 2 Sonos Play 5's in the living room I still felt like the set-up missed something. I thought about buying a sub for quite a while and read a lot about it on the internet. What put me off of buying a Sub initially was 1) the price 2) a lot of comments on how the difference wouldn't be big enough to warrant the price (the Play5's have… Read more
decent base without a Sub too) 3) the price ;)
After a while I decided to bite the bullet and fork out about $900 for the sub....... and never looked back.
The sound this sub produces together with the 2no. Play 5's is astonishing considering it's size, there is not much else I can say, it's just superb. I have had a sub in the past that doesn't come near the performance of this thing (although the costs didn't come near it either.....). Don't believe anyone that says the difference the sub makes to a set-up with 2no. Play 5's is not big enough..... it's in another league.
As with all Sonos products the set-up us ridiculously simple (and I often wonder why Sonos can make this process so simple while no other tech manufacturer seems to be able to do the same..... ever tried setting up a new I-phone without regretting the purchase at least a few times.... I haven't) and the products all look amazing as well. What I also like about Sonos is that you can just slowly build-out your "collection" over years and don't have to spend a lot of money all at once. You can then go and link them up / separate them out throughout the house, etc. as you please.
I have just bought a Playbase as well and that together with the Sub provides another dimension to watching movies....... for our neighbours as well as for us.
There are a few downsides to the Sub (or Sonos in general perhaps): - I mentioned the price a few times, this thing is expensive (like most Sonos speakers), while outright performance, looks and ease of use are clearly on the top of the list for Sonos, value for money isn't...... but as with everything you buy: you get what you pay for. - Sonos has started to introduce advertising in their app... and if there is anything that gets my blood boiling it's having to read / listen / respond to marketing rubbish and especially - in this case - after having forked out thousands of dollars for their products already. Sonos: stop this nonsense, let the performance of your products do the talking!! - When the internet connection is poor, using lots of speakers can lead to the system becoming a little glitchy when using for instance Spotify (this can be overcome to some extent by streaming from a phone for instance). - The warranty is not exactly special. I did have one of the Play 5 speakers replaced (within the warranty period and I got a brand new one within a week, with absolutely no issues so that was good) but I have read about Speakers that gave up after 5 years with very little to no support from Sonos...... for a manufacturer that charges premium hi-fi like prices you'd expect the warranty to match that.
An expensive paper weight – My Sonos SUB also just died, after 5 years. The Sonos customer service team said to me 3% of their products are absolutely lemons and they expect their customers to return these and pay $700 (30% off RPP) for a refurbished one. They do not offer repair option which is an absolute joke, it could just be a burnt fuse. Such poor workmanship for a $1k speaker, its now an expensive paper weight.
Lasted 4 years and stopped working – Sonos has absolutely no confidence that their products would last, therefore only offer a 12 month warranty. My $999 sub stopped working after 4 years, they wanted me to pay $690 to replace it with a refurbished unit. This is a joke as most good subs out there can last 10-20 yrs.
Best base – If you are after a banging cordless base, the sonos is second to none. Producing clear base, no matter how loud you have it cranked up. The only downfall I don’t like about it is the shiny black. The dust gets stuck to it and any little scratch or knock shows up. A Matt finish would be perfect. Otherwise I can’t fault this base, love it love it love it. Show details

This sub is very impressive, add +3 in the setup and play an action movie to enjoy or your favourite – We purchased the first sub for our sunroom and simply had to have one for in the lounge. If you love great sound quality, then this sub is well worth considering at its price point. I have heard a number of people complaining about the Sonos wireless regarding drop-outs. If you buy the Sonos bridge and run the latest firmware updates on your… Read more
equipment. This resolves any issues, I'm running three complete and separate Sonos systems in my home and have never had any problems with any of the equipment. This gear is top quality and produces excellent results, music becomes more pleasurable due to the performance of system across all frequencies. The clarity is what makes this system worth every cent spent.
Say good bye to all those cables – The Sonos Sub is a stand alone unit with a sleek modern appearance and the added advantage of only one power cable Say goodbye to all those speaker cables, audio cables and the transformer power cable lead. Operating via WI Fi it can be placed in a powerpoint anywhere in the room The Sonos Sub enhances and improves the sound quality of both the… Read more
Sonos 5 and Sonos Sound Bar. Easy to install, operate and connect to the sonos speaker system I would highly recommend the Sonos Sub for Sonos users seeking richer sound quality and good value for money.
Very functional – I thought initially is it excessive to have with the play bar? Well it was a bonus when I also used it in the alfresco area and connected it to the sonos amp. The functionality was great as it's truely portable (power close by required). Let's face its no high end audio. However the product needs the credit. It works it's does what it's meant to… Read more
do. The thing Ioved most that it can connect to the other sonos speakers without complications. I have always been a sonos user. I did buy a Bose home theatre used it 4 x. Bose system Now for sale! . The sonos is alot easier to use especially through your phone app. The sound bar and sub are actively listening to the TV. Once the tv is on the sonos works. The sonos sub and soundbar then work through the TV controller. It's easy and simple to use. The sound results are very impressive . Must note Andrew at Harvey Norman caringbah. Exceptional service. It's ok what I would've wasted taking family on holidays I spent at Harvey $ 7k plus on various goods
