Terrible – I've had a Sony Ericsson before (an older model) and that was a great phone. In fact, it's the phone I've gone back to using because this one carked it after only about 1 year. I wouldn't recommend this phone to people. It's flimsy. I only bought it as I was lured by the attractive design. Attractive design, easy to use, compact. Didn't last long.… Read more

After about 1 year, it started having problems, such as not dialling (I had to turn the phone on and off several times before it would work, sometimes the battery also had to be removed and put back in. Other times it would say "insert SIM" although I hadn't removed the SIM. After about 1 year, it became very unreliable. Not ideal if you ever have an emergency situation and need to use your phone!

Good – I purchased this phone for $200. The keys did crack when it was only a couple of months old but were replaced under warranty and have remained in one piece ever since. The sound is clear, it's loud enough when it rings, the themes for it are pretty. It doesn't cope well with being dropped. I only dropped it once onto carpet and it no longer… Read more

meets up very well when you slide it into the closed position. Also the top 2 function keys are hard to press and you often press the wrong button by mistake because they're so close together.

I'm impressed that it's still going over 2 years after I got it though and I still love it today. Small.

Attractive design.

Attractive themes.

Easy to use. Keys cracked.

Doesn't cope well with being dropped at all (but I imagine most of them don't).

Top 2 keys are very small.

Good – I chose to own the spring yellow version. Almost mimicking the image of my iPod. This mobile rocks! It’s pleasing to the eyes, and it’s easy to navigate. Everything that it is fits my personality perfectly. 2MP camera. Internet access.

OK – for two weeks i had this phone with no troubles at all and i really truly loved it - until i noticed that the slider was out of shape and started to creak when i used it or dialled a number - i returned it to the store - they could see the probably and agreed that it wasnt good enough - they said that no one else had the problem that they new of.… Read more

I was able to get a refund and bought a newer model - K530i instead which is essentially the same phone only its not a slider and is more solid. Im not so convinced in the durability of the S500's slider function - i'd think twice and make sure u check out the build quality in the store before u leave just in case! I give it a 5 out of 5 for design..... but the build quality was not so good :( looks great - feels great in ur hand - its a good compact size - love the slide function - the camera is good - themes and interface are excellent - loved the design of this phone - the price was just right too! top of slider did not meet up correctly with the bottom when closed and started to flex and creak
