Sony Ericsson Xperia arc (2011)

Best Phone I've ever used – After 4 years with this phone I have found a business on Ebay that still sells them. My old one has been the best phone I have ever used in business or private use. If you can find another phone that is shaped the way this phone is, please tell me. It has an arc in the design that slips into your pocket like a blade. 10/10
A good all-round phone – A nice sized phone that has a large enough touch screen to be useful but not so large that it is a hassle to carry around with you. Very easy to use, made even easier when you customise the main screen to exactly what you want. Battery life is slightly longer than some other smart phones in real world situations. It has the ability to gain apps… Read more
easily from the "play store" and this allows you to make the phone whatever you wish it to be. Has a slightly better camera (8.1 mega-pixels) than other smart phones of the same year making it better for capturing those special moments when a camera is not around. Any downloaded music tracks can be made into your ringtone or alarm at the press of the screen, you don't have to search subfolders and programs to be able to do this. I have found that if you have many apps downloaded the phone can run a little slower than normal and may not have enough RAM to run some of the higher graphics that come with some apps. Would recommend getting the largest capacity Micro SD card you can find otherwise you will run out of space very quickly. size, weight, ease of use, camera, app store, customisable, preloaded functions battery still lasts about 2 days if not used extensively, low RAM for some apps, can be a bit sluggish with commands.
Good phone, like the improvements from the X10 – I got this phone as a warranty replacement for my Experia X10 that crashed and died (see my review of the X10). I was pleasantly surprised at the vast improvements on the X10. The arc is thinner and lighter than the X10 while maintaining the screen size. It runs smoother and I have not had any problems with this phone so far. Currently running on… Read more
the latest Ice-cream Sandwich 4.0.4, all is crisp & clear and easy to navigate. Important note: This product was replaced under the Optus extended warranty, - the customer service was much faster than the Sony customer service experienced when the original X10 was new (ref my X10 review). While this item is an example of a 'goodly working' Sony product, I still stand by the promise I made to myself 15 years ago (when in the retail industry selling electronic goods) - to Never buy a Sony product because of their Lousy customer service (see also some other reviews from people who have had Sony warranty issues). I hope, therefore, that I do not have any problems with this phone. I purchased the X10 thinking it was an Ericsson, When I got home and opened the box - and realized it was a SONY-Ericsson... others in my house wondered why I was wandering around the house muttering: 'stupid, stupid', 'can't believe it', 'why did I do it?' and other ramblings. In summary: Brilliant phone, excellent features - if you get a good one. But the risk of high blood pressure, heart attack or stroke from the Sony Customer Support experience far outweighs all the good points of this phone. Lighter, Thinner, runs good, camera resolution, etc Previous multiple bad experiences with Sony Customer Support
I cant find anything wrong with it – Very fast phone even with 50 apps installed after purchase. Looks awesome, lightweight, fantastic camera, can be upgraded to Android 4 manually. My mates are jealous :-P Charges fast, wi-fi tethering is great and maybe the best bonus is having Flash. With flash I can play almost any online game with ease. Every app I have installed works.. My mate has Galaxy III and he wants to swap :-D Go buy one!
Gorgeous, and after updating with Android 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) works brilliantly – This smartphone comes for $2.00/month on a Telstra $48.00 plan and I bought it on a whim because I liked it's appearance, slim and piano black. I'm not an authority on Android phones because this was an upgrade form a Palm windows phone. With the ICS update it works very well, accepting voice commands without fault and with an intuitive interface.… Read more
Considrably better than my wife's iPhone. The camera is terrific, although it is hard to squeese the shutter button withput shaking the phone. Appearance, interface, camera. Buttons for power on and camera are small and need a firm press.
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc – I recently upgraded from a Nokia N97 which was 2 yrs trouble free and was looking at getting another Nokia but nothing really took my fancy. After looking at all the other smart phones I chose the Xperia Arc because of it's huge screen, the display is alot brighter and clearer thanks to the Sony Bravia engine and because of how light and thin it… Read more
is. So far I have found it simple to use with all the usual Android apps available for it and it has been reliable for the last 3 months with no problems or glitches to mention with the phone. As someone has mentioned the keypad is a bit on the small side buy I have found by using the phone in landscape mode when writing text the buttons become twice as big and is alot easier to use. The HDMI output I have found to be extremely handy as you can display pictures and video straight onto a TV. I have found the pictures/video that I have taken with the phone to be of decent quality and display well on the phone, tv and pc.
The only issue I've had is the a/c to usb adapter supplied to charge the phone stopped working after 3 charges.
Very happy with this phone and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting an android based smart phone Big bright clear display, it's compact size and weight compared to other smart phones, HDMI output, reliable, it's not an iphone Long time to turn on which isn't that bad unless you frequently turn your phone completely off.
Perfect – Love it,everything i could possibly ask for,8mp camera with flash, loud speakerphone. Everything the samsung galaxy s i had did not have.I gave my husband the galaxy s.. The arc is perfect..Very happy indeed.Very good battery life, compared to galaxy.. Arc is definitely an AAA+ Loudspeaker, camera with flash, everything
Sexiest phone ever – This is the best looking phone on the market. I have been using arc since nov. last year, and I find it is so much better than X10, loud and much clearer speaker, the screen is much brighter, faster response (due to the new snapdragon processor) and most importantly, an updated design that addresses the issue of accidently pressing the volume… Read more
button when holding it on X10. Anyway, I always loved Sony Ericsson, and it is certainly the best looking phone, 10000000 times prettier than Samsung Galaxy [censored word removed]! I think every man should own Sony Ericsson phone because they look so sexy, if you want to express yourself like I do, then grab one of their handsets today! Camera, lightweight, design Battery life (u better turn account sync, GPS. etc off when not using them)
As other users wrest Sony is an Arc de triumph – I have a Sony Arc, a Neo, have used a BlackBerry, and have been a Nokia owner & user forever. I choose my Arc as my everyday mobile. It is very light weight, is fast, has a clear screen, good camera, very adequate battery life considering I live on my mobile. I don't like the Bluetooth connectivity that sometimes disconnects - but not when I… Read more
talking....and that's very often and for long periods.
I have purchased after market batteries for all my mobiles as NO mobile on the market with run all day using talk, email and office / internet functions.
I don't like being stuck with mr google knowing all my personal mobile stuff thanks to the android system, but that's what we have with android mobiles. lightweight, reliable, great screen & with HDMI connectivity
Good for most things – I've had my Xperia for over a year now. It's a really good phone for nokia market apps, web browsing, photo taking. I do however find it troublesome when it comes to messaging. I find that it is quite slow and often skips/presses wrong letters on the touch screen; but that just might be with age. Overall it's a good phone.
Avoid Sony Ericcson don't back-up their warranty – Disagree vehemently with other reviews. If you are considering purchasing an Experia Arc, think twice. Sony Ericcson do not properly support this phone with after service. Two weeks after I got the phone the battery wouldn't charge. I was told the issue was a lifted pin in the mini USB and that it was user error and wouldn't be covered under… Read more
warranty. Took over 3 weeks for the part to arrive to enable the phone to be fixed and $110. Next day the phone needed charging and wouldn't. A pin in both the mini USB and the cable had lifted and yep you guessed it, Sony Ericcson denied all responsibility - same story "user errror not covered under warranty".
This was despite the backing of the authorised repairer who also pointed out to the company that the mini USB plug was square not like typical ones that have one side of the plug which is wider.
Ironically, I bought a cheap $30 Sony Ericcson Cedar to tie me over while other being fixed and its mini USB is your typical one. Struggling?? Sony Ericcson after sales service/warranty back-up, mini USB port and battery
Good looking and works perfectly – I love my new Arc, it looks fantastic, is well made and works perfectly. It is generally easy to use, and only takes a little playing around with to work out all the functions. Best of all is the HDMI output; so you can take pictures and movies and display them perfectly on any device with HDMI. Well made, looks great, works perfectly, not an iphone. Can take time getting used to all the functions if you're new to android.
Awesome looking phone that works just as well and is not an iPhone – From the moment you open the box and take the Xperia Arc out you can see and feel the difference. it doesnt look, feel or do anything like an iphone, thank god!!! Sony Ericsson has always led the way in cutting edge style and features. The shape and thinness simply fit in your hand perfectly. The massive 4.2 inch screen is brilliant and Bravia… Read more
Engine ensures it is incredibly sharp and vibrant. Android 2.3 Gingerbread is responsive and a step up from 1.6 and 2.1 of Xperia X10 which I owned previously. This phone is so 2011 whereas iPhone 4 and most other iPhone wannabes are so 2010. Style, Huge screen, Android 2.3, Music player, feature packed. Nothing to note
