Think Twice – I gave a SmartWatch 3 as a birthday gift. The band was professionally adjusted at the local jeweller to ensure correct wrist placement. It seemed like such a promising device, I mean it is even meant to be waterproof. Great if you are a swimmer right? Maybe there's some things you are not allowed to do The proud owner was wearing it to track and measure activity. This included the expected fortnightly mow of the front lawn and nature strip which occurred on day seven after receiving. The screen cracked whilst on wrist, general wear and tear I believed, however has come back from Sony that the cost to fix will be greater than the original price

I am disgusted, and this is disgusting. Having been an advocate for so many years, including a proud owner of the first Walkman in 1980 but I have gone right off this brand now due to its customer service policy and attitude.

Do not recommend

Smartwatch 2. It's ok, now – I've had two smartwatch 2's since I first got one in 2013 and I can tell you it's been quite the roller coaster ride with this device. Some days I have issues with it some days I don't. When I first got it there was a lot of issues with apps, features, and performance. However that's all starting to smooth out. It's not perfect but they've added a lot of things that were missing and fixed a lot of issues. Now you can add custom watch faces, multiple watchfaces (Up to 3), custom background images, custom app placement, the ability to turn off buzzing when disconnecting or connecting, and most of the apps have been fixed.

However it still has it's issues.

The first one I had had the screen get two black holes on it. So I had to get it fixed and Sony's customer service was less than desirable. So I ended up having to take it to the store to get it replaced (Which wasn't easy being an online overseas store) never the less I got it replaced and now I've got a functioning unit. However that hasn't meant the end of the issues. Sometimes the battery lasts a long time, sometimes it doesn't. I normally get 2-3 days out of it but occasionally it just dies after a few hours without heavy use or anything. It is nice that it's water proof (Kinda, only really washing your hands or stuff like that water proof) and I do like the strap (And the fact that it's replaceable) however the charging port isn't so good. When it's not being charged it's fine but it has this cover that goes on it which means if it breaks off you lose the water proofing. However it is nice that it uses a Micro USB port.

For the price (I know I can find them for about 100 AUD) this isn't a bad piece of kit. Especially now that most of the bugs are getting ironed out. However I'd still wait. Either wait for the Pebble Time to come out or something with Android Wear like the LG G Watch R. This is only really for people who don't mind taking a risk.

I know this review is kinda all over the place. But that's really how my experience with this watch has been.

P.S. Don't believe the packaging. You can't actually use Widgets with it and there is no music widget. I don't really know why.

Love the Sony Smartwatch 2 – Easy purchase, good price. Love the watch, easy to quickly see text messages, Facebook updates and messages, and see who is calling as long as I'm within 10 metres of the phone. When you walk further than the Bluetooth range the watch will vibrate so you know you forgot your phone, very handy. One of the better smart watches around at a very good price. For it to have a microphone and speaker would be nice
