Sony KD55X9000E 4K TV – Had this tv since 2017 and it has brought both good and bad things, It has needed to have a motherboard replacement a few years ago and wouldnt turn on, Worked find afterwards but recently it has been lagging pretty bad, From clicking a button to it happening on the tv, Roughly 2-7 seconds before something happens, Apart from that, A great smart tv with amazing picture quality.
Just Crap – After having enormous trouble with this TV as per my earlier review, now after only 14 months the TV has a black spot and horizontal and vertical lines, this is undoubtedly the worst TV i have ever purchased, its spent more time out of my office under repair than i have have. Never again Sony, just garbage. Show details
Do not bother. Waste of time – This is by far the worst and most frustrating piece of technology I have ever purchased. Save yourself the trouble and just buy a Samsung. To start from the top, the TV is SLOW. I mean REALLY slow. Press the on button, count to 10, SLOWLY and still the picture hasn't shown up yet. Use the volume at any time and there is a 50% chance the TV… Read more
will actually show the volume level.
Play youtube videos, and it will bombard you with messages and then eventually crash.
It flat it refuses to play 4k youtube videos despite being a 4k TV.
The remote is only useable when pointed directly at the lower part of the TV.
I have had it replaced once and it's still trash.
It's all bad. Just don't do it.
Good TV except for the impossible to stop, inappropriate for kids trailers – The TV is fine for home use. The thing that really annoys me is every time it is turned on it plays a movie trailer. It’s next to impossible to stop the trailer and they are often very inappropriate for my young children. Swearing, violence and intimate adult scenes. I have spoken to Sony about this (on the phone and via email support which they didn’t bother replying to) and the “solutions” they have offered have done nothing to stop this. Show details
Fantastic - Replaced my Old Sony Bravia with this model - what a difference technology and time make – Love it - I really researched all TV's well before spending my hard earned cash - looked at all the models I was interested in, read reviews and made my decision - love it! Great sound which you can enhance, great picture quality, looks good mounted on my wall. Great Apps! More than pleased with my purchase. Trish Show details
Crap – After having a series of Samsung plasmas over the years i recently purchased the Sony 55inch 9000e, maybe i have the wrong settings but the picture quality of this TV is absurdly behind the plasma quality i once enjoyed. This tv was faulty from the start, wouldnt turn on, after 2 boards being replaced and 6 weeks in the repair shop only weeks… Read more
after purchase i now have it back and am disappointed i bought this crap
Can someone give me some settings to get a decent picture if its so good from anyone giving it 5 stars, i watch a lot of sport, racing and rugby league and the clarity is appalling in every setting
Outstanding picture quality – I have always preferred Sony brand and this TV didn't disappoint. It's the perfect size TV and has an outstanding picture quality. Satisfactory sound for everyday viewing, however I prefer to link to my own stereo audio system when watching movies. Plenty of ports and easy to navigate and operate system. I can definitely recommend this TV. Show details
Best mid range 4K TV on the market – I love this TV! Built in chromecast makes it a joy to use when wanting to cast whatever you're watching or listening on your phone to the TV. The Android TV is so easy to use and comes with many great built in apps. Definitely a step above the Hisense TVs encountered. Show details
Great TV for 4K HDR gaming consoles and more – Great picture quality, modern Xbox and PlayStation games look nice on this TV in 4K and HDR. Android OS has a good selection of quality apps and I prefer to watch Netflix and Plex directly on my TV now instead of using Xbox or PlayStation apps, built-in Chromecast is also great. Only 2 of 4 HDMI ports are HDR-capable though, so keep that in mind if you have a lot of HDR devices. Show details
One Of the best Picture – 1) Picture quality is the best for an non OLED 2) Tv speakers are not that bad, but ordinary . I own a sound bar which helps me get the required affect 3) The ports ( HDMI ,AUDIO , LAN ) and video should be enough 4) I hate the smart TV aspect of it , which is a hit or miss , I hate android tv It reminds me of the buggy android OS that we… Read more
used to have on phone , crashes regularly . Especially NETFLIX app I have to go to the app settings forcibly restart the app to get it working
Chromecast feature is the most used feature on a smart TV and that sucks , I am a software engineer and have tried to debug it by setting the same DHCP as my router , but still its not happy to accept a Telstra 5g broadband connection which sucks as I have to connect my laptop sometimes when it decides to stop working
Amazing TV - when sitting right in front – This is a very good TV. Fast and responsive Android OS (including good selection of Apps), great picture quality and colour. I'm using a Soundbar, so it's tough to comment on speakers. Be aware though - I've heard of viewing angles being a "thing", but only until this TV have i realised the importance. When sitting right in front, the colours and… Read more
contrast is perfect (and highly adjustable in settings to get to your ideal picture). BUT, move to the side of the couch or do something in the kitchen while trying to see the TV, and the colour gets washed out. It starts to "grey" out the colour and the brightness is washed across the screen. I won't comment on degrees of relative viewing angles, but it shows a noticeable difference between viewing directly in front (middle of the couch) to the side of the couch.
If this is a "theatre" room TV, then it can be set up appropriately and will be incredible. If this is the main living area where you move about a lot, then it might get annoying.
Bad decision- cheap remote & slow tech – While the TV unit outlook is impressive it comes with a very cheap remote component. Supplied sony batteries for the lasted only two months. The remote response time is long and does not reflect brand name. Technology wise (connecting and searching) the TV unit is no way near to its competitors. Last, if I would've given a second chance I would try some other brand. Show details
beautifully – This tv is amazing, perfect picture quality all around. the 4k is beautiful and is a great experience. I always trusted sony with all my home entertainment products. I can watch tv all the way from the kitchen. The 55inch really is the best suit for my home. Love it any. Show details

Know better, choose better.
Good Tv for decent price – Good TV, clear picture and the OS works well and is user friendly. Have had no internet connection and it works well with google home using the inbuilt chromecast. I am able to cast images, movies or music very easily. Although I have added a soundbar, the original sound is still quite good and sufficient for normal viewing. Show details
Super TV – I hunted around to find a new 4K capable TV to pair with my Xbox One X, and from all the reviews the Sony X9000E seemed to be the best value in terms of features for the price. When I managed to find an awesome discount price through EBay I jumped at it. The picture quality is amazing, no noticeable lag gaming, and a fully featured smart TV. Highly recommend. Show details
Best purchase of 2017 – I bought this tv as replacement for my old Panasonic plasma tv. I am shocked by the picture quality so far, it produce crisp detail and rich in colour. 4k movies feel alive, make sure you have decent 4k media player to go along with (im using xbox one s). Plenty hdmi ports available (4), with one of them for the arc to the soundbar or audio… Read more

So far the smart tv feature pleases me, run smooth, havent been running into problem yet.
55 inch is perfect size for my living room since I usually sit within 2 metres.
Would definitely recommend this series (go for 9300 or even oled variant if you have extra budget to spend).
Very happy – I have had this TV for about a month now and am very happy with it. The picture quality is great - sharp, smooth video, vivid colours and deep blacks. It is my first smart TV and love having the Netflix, YouTube and Amazon apps on the TV. It's great to be able to fast forward videos on these apps with the remote. With my last TV, I used to use a… Read more
Chromecast and cast videos from Netflix etc - fast forwarding and rewinding were very imprecise, having to use the slider on a phone screen, so having fast forward and rewind buttons on the remote that work with these apps is a luxury! It's also good that the TV has a builtin Chromecast. I sometimes still cast from my phone or computer, so the builtin Chromecast is useful.
I can't really comment as to the adequacy of the TV speakers as I bought a soundbar at the same time as the TV, so have never used the speakers. The soundbar is not a Sony (it's a Samsung), but by connecting it to the TV via the HDMI ARC port, the TV controls the volume and power on the soundbar via the TV remote, which is another plus. The soundbar remote control is rarely needed.
I have no regrets having purchased this Sony TV and would recommend it.
Perfect buy – Great picture quality, awesome HDR, very soecific graphics especially the high speed videos, have always sticked to Sony when it comes to buying TV’s because of its robust built and quality, would recommend this product if you plan to use a gaming console(4k) along with it to really exploit its visual capabilities to the fullest. My kids love it – My Samsung died and had to get a replacement. Just like my LG, samsungs only last me 4-5 yrs unlike my Sonys, they all were good for over 10 years. As expected the 4K quality is excellent and I get new Apps which my family loves. 55in TVs are the only ones that would fit my car, 65 and above needs to be delivered and I can't be bothered. This is value for money. Speakers though are just OK in my opinion, Show details
Sony KD-55X9000E – So after doing a lot of research about 4k TVs I was juggling between Sony/LG I chose Sony 55inch Tv 55 Being that that was the maximum I could fit in my room, also the android feature pushed me towards it about buying the Sony I have configured the picture settings and I've been watching blu-rays for the last week and it's absolutely incredible… Read more
considering the movies I have is not 4k the picture quality is absolutely so crisp and clear I love the quality I'm also impressed with the back panel containing so many connections 4hdmi 3usb and optical connection plus more the,
I'm super satisfied with all of the bells and whistles on it this tv will be a 10/10 from
Great picture – 1 week in and loving my new tely. Lovely deep blacks and great clarity. Got it on promotion so big win for me there. I recommend. You won't be disappointed. Only wish the on board speakers were equally good. Had to get a sound bar for better bass. Overall, happy with my purchase. Show details
Buggy applications and slow response times make for a disappointing experience – I read up on the better smart TV's in this size range and took the recommendation of a professional review on an IT site that Sony had the best applications for a smart TV at this level. There's no question they have more apps than Samsung or LG, but the apps are buggy, causing the tele to reset, or occasionally switch off, the response time to… Read more
clicks on the remote is particularly slow, and it's not particularly easy or intuitive as an overall interface.
When I compare to our other 55inch smart TV - and LG with WebOS, there are far fewer apps, but they work reliably, they load quickly and the remote is very responsive. Best of all, the LG has the second "magic" remote which allows you to point and click and scroll elements on the screen like a mouse. This is actually a big time saver compared to using the 4 way directional pointers on the Sony which takes ages to move the pointer around the screen. I now wish I'd purchased another LG.
The picture quality is fine, no better or worse than LG & Samsung.
The built-in speakers are adequate but not great for an immersive / cinema experience.
There are plenty of ports / inputs on the back.
The big downside is the slow / cumbersome / buggy OS & apps.
