Excellent phone for the price – I had my Sony Xperia SP for 22 months and never had a problem. Fast nice looking phone with great battery life. Great size not to big or to small. Excellent mid range phone with some features found on Sony's flagship models. Drop this phone many times and still goes.

Sony Xperia sp 2013 great phone half price of others – Hi, had this mobile for almost 14 months and still going strong. I used it heaps everyday. Good hd camera, WiFi Bluetooth. Photo camera is Ok but have to hold it steady. Battery is still going strong after 20 months. I have a case for protection and have dropped phone 100+ still works fine :) Best phone I have ever had all round. I love the light at bottom which changes with songs and pics. You can play with the settings of the colour for your contacts, etc.

Very easy to use phone.

It has seen. Fair share of rain. Water and still operates.

It's so good I don't want to upgrade. Happy to use it for another 12 months.

Quick update: this phone is over 2 years old. Still using it, still working and going strong. Have to charge it more often now. Amazing how I have frashed this phone and still working.

Sony phones are built to last. Wish I could say the same for other brands like Apple.

Third update: phone 2.5 years old now and still going strong only thing I can notice is that the battery life has been reduced to approximately 40-50 percent of when brand new. I do use this phone all day and night including for work. I'm always on the phone but Sony people. :) Big screen, reliable, strong, easy to use. Value for money. Opens all apps and internet sites. Virus proof. Keyboard screen sometimes lags, takes few seconds to load up on certain apps.

Worst smart phone I have ever had! – Low quality hardware: - Back door breaks after a few times of opening. - Dust and dirt can get under the touch screen easily, mine even had a hair under the touch screen!!!! Support and after sales service is terrible: - Sony don't bother to deal with the defects they introduce a third party to do it for you and good luck with that. After months of communication with the third party company and Sony and fare traiding I just gave up and threw it to were it belongs, trash.

If you have a plan to buy a Sony consider that the support is terrible.

Very happy with phone – After much review searching, the Sony Xperia SP appeared to be one of the best deals around, so I got one. It's not Sony's flagship, which funnily doesn't get as good reviews as the SP, but it does look the same as the Z. I just finished a plan with a Samsung Galaxy, which I was quite happy with, but it was slow and could flatten the battery so quickly it was quite scary. I've had the phone 2 weeks now, and being a low end user I'm getting 3-4 days per charge, so this makes me very happy. It's got a special mode that can extend the battery life even further, but once activated, you'll lose the flashing LED notice lights.

The flashing LED notice lights are one of the main reasons I got the phone. Personally, I think all fones should have them. If you miss a call or txt the fone can flash a notification light to let you know - and you get to choose the colours you want. There's also an app to give more control over the LEDs if you want to go that far. The fone is very fast with virtually no waiting time between switching apps, unlike my old Galaxy. It gives the feeling of being very snappy!

The first pics I took with it were terrible, out of focus. I used the dedicated camera button too, which I thought was a great idea and another reason I got it. BUT, silly me, didn't know until I did some more searching that the camera button works like a real camera - put some pressure on the button and it will lock the focus and exposure, THEN push the button all the way!!!

My daughter has a large Sony TV, and I'd noticed this feature where you can connect the fone to the TV with WIFI and look at pics, movies, anything you choose really. I thought I'd try it as I always find WIFI and Bluetooth connections a bit dodgey but it worked flawlessly. The SP sent a 1080 (full hi-def) movie trailer to the TV and we were all blown away by the quality of the image and sound. Speed, looks, the dedicated camera button. If I had to have a whinge about anything, the only thing I can think of is that the blacks on the screen are more of a very dark grey rather than black, but now I'm used to it I don't notice anymore.

I really should have added that the camera is ok, but not great. It's probably the reason why the phone is fast and nice to use but not expensive. If you want a top notch camera built into your phone, the SP wont be for you. Images suffer from pixelation and it doesn't take good pics in low light levels. It does have a flash and maybe I should turn it on. Otherwise, I'm still happy with it
