Have been visiting Spero for a number of years now, and has always been great, until now. It's under new management, has been renovated and so the pricing has jumped considerably. Tonight I had the Moussaka which was quite tasty, but it had a different taste to a normal Moussaka, and not for the better. My wife had a Prawn Pasta that was very ordinary. About three prawns chopped up to make the meal look bigger. The sauce through the meal was extremely runny, and there was very little flavour. Very disappointing indeed.

If you enjoy getting spoken to like crap, and wasting time and cash this is your place – Was really excited to try this place for my birthday dinner and was pretty disappointed. And it cost an arm and a leg! We made 2 orders, one after the other, at 7pm. One order had x2 entrees which we indicated we wanted before the mains of both orders. And we confirmed twice we were both at the same table number. The mains of the first order came out around 20mins in. We waited for the entrees or the rest of the mains but after 10 mins nothing came so our friends started. At 7.55 pm, we had still received no more food.

Given the delay, I went to ask about our food. The girl went to the kitchen and returned with the manager. He was defensive straight off the bat. He brushed off my questions about our food stating we had ordered at 7.20pm, we hadn't been waiting long and proceeded to repeat back the wrong order. I corrected him on when we had ordered and what but again was dismissed. He stated that because we had ordered separately that this was the problem. I explained that we ordered straight after and the girl put us on the same table. Again, was meet with defensive reasons for why it was our fault. Stunned by this I returned to the table. My brother went up with our receipt to speak to him. He returned and said he was chasing it up. The manager came out to the table, and proceeded to keep blaming us for ordering separately. We inquired about the point of the table numbers if this was the case and why our entrees had still not arrived but yet again he was on the defense and kept making excuses anytime we challenged anything.

Seeing the conversation was going nowhere we asked him to see where the food was. Shortly after this, our mains arrived, and 10 mins later the entrees, which was pretty pointless at this stage. The whole situation left a sour taste and curbed our appetites.

We also ordered baklava which was almost burnt on top and dry.

The mains and entree weren't bad, but I'd rather cook than be treated like that.

Excellent food desserts need tweeking – Last Saturday I had lunch at Spero greek restaurant and they were very busy. The food was worth the wait which wasn't too long. We enjoyed all the meals of gyros with pulled lamb , souvlaki with chicken and a side of heirloom carrots salad. Also the Mooloolaba prawns with salad. were good . The only thing not quite as good was the specials board dessert. the baklava was better . The pistacio coconut offering with berries was meant to have prairline, but was too rock hard and sickly sweet for our taste. A matter of preference . The staff are top notch for manners and attentiveness. I would recommend lunch here and would return again.
