Spinifex Hawkesbury Dome

Definitely Worth Its Value – I've backpacked with this tent all over Australia, New Zealand, and North America for the last two years now. Was originally just looking for something cheap and lightweight to pick up and it's turned out to last longer than I originally anticipated. Great little tent for the price. Venting isn't the greatest and there's no vestibule, but again, cheap and lightweight. Put the rainfly on for those colder nights and take it off for the warmer ones. Done. It's got a built in footprint so that was a plus for me. The only accessory is a loop for a tent light. Holds up to rains quite well, but not storms. I've only been rained out once and they were pretty serious conditions. The guy line structure is supportive during average to medium winds, but wouldn't trust them with higher gusts. Not too sure about a smell as mentioned in the previous review, but I've never had mine packed for longer than a couple weeks at a time so it gets vented out pretty often through use. For the price you really can't go wrong. I actually decided to write this review because I was searching to purchase another one. After two years of constant use it's finally time for a replacement although I will always keep this as a backup tent as it's still in great working condition. Weight plays a huge factor in this tent for me seeing as it's constantly attached to my backpack. Others tents in this weight category are typically no less than three to four times the cost of this one.
Bottom line, great for the price but definitely not a North Face etc.
Spinifex Tents. Hawkesbury Type Dome – The product was fairly inexpensive. Everything went together ok but it had some faults. What really put me off was the odour of the polytarp on the floor. It was like one of those inexpensive door mats that you have to leave outside because they never lose the smell of the rubber. It was a fairly inexpensive product that had been reduced to half price. One of the hooks going to the flexible support pole was missing. Also the floor of the tent had a dreadful chemical odour.
