Called on Wednesday 10/09/25 and Booked an appointment for Friday 12/09/25 at 1pm at KGM Footscray to inspect a black SsangYong Rexton stock number S1061 and to discuss a trade-in of my Pajero. Turned up at the dealer at the appointment time and got told car was sold earlier in the day. I received no notice whatsoever. Is it wrong to expect a… Read more
courtesy call to advise someone else wanting to buy the same car? Or at least a courtesy call to advise that the car was sold so I didn't have to waste time coming in? This is very Bad customer service. They've just lost a customer and maybe more because if this review.
Bough a badly made Ssangoyong lack of longevity and after sales support from Ssangyong/KGM. Fuel system completely failed after only 2 years. They ignored/delayed repair for 200 days until they are ordered to fix and compensate. The 7 years warranty is worth a piece of paper as only tribunal can enforce it. Waste of time and money. Attaching the tribunal order for your future reference to the brand.
Musso purchased new June 2023. Faulty radio antenna wiring developed mid 2024 making commercial stations inaudible outside metro area. Taken to NORTHEAST KGM for repair, fault not apparent in metro area, only country areas on commercial stations. ABC intermittently received because of stronger signal. Arrangements made for Service Manager to… Read more
assess reception outside Metro area but subsequently chose not to do so. Northeast stated end of exercise, will make no further effort. (General Manager in conversation did not know if he had staff qualified to fix problem which may require access above roof lining). Very happy with the car, but find the after-service lacking and frustrating with regards to the proper functioning of the radio.
7 years warranty a complete joke – I purchased a Ssangyong Musso from Ssangyong Homebush in 2022. Unfortunately, my experience has been quite disappointing: Year One: Hornsby Repair Centre refused to check the Ute’s parking sensors because I had installed a bullbar. The bullbar was installed professionally using the factory sensors, but that didn’t seem to matter. Year Two (18,700… Read more
km driven): The Ute stalled and failed to accelerate up a hill every cold start. Response from Ssangyong Homebush: Larke Hoskins immediately declined a check-up, claiming they no longer dealt with Ssangyong Australia. Response from Ssangyong Blacktown: They refused warranty coverage because the Ute had been serviced by another licensed mechanic. They also suggested Ssangyong Australia would likely deny the warranty claims. Claiming I would have to end up paying for the repairs myself.
Despite my efforts to address these issues, I’ve found Ssangyong Australia and its dealers to be unresponsive and unhelpful. This disregard for Australian Consumer Law and customer service is frustrating. I've taken my complaint to Fair Trading NSW and may escalate to NCAT if necessary. In addition to these troubles, I've also lost 50% of the Ute's value in just two years due to crash in used market prices, driven by widespread complaints about Ssangyong Australia and its dealers.
I would not recommend Ssangyong Homebush or Ssangyong vehicles based on my experience.
Best car and car dealers – Recently purchased a new ssangyong musso 4 x4 dual cab from Wanneroo Ssangyong. Had the best experience at the dealership from the sales manager Adam, not only this but the 4 x 4 ute l bought is amazin, a quality vehicle and the price $52,290 what a bargain, Thanks to Adam and Wanneroo Ssangyong for the best ever experience.
Cricks Ssangyong and Westpoint Ssangyong – Dealing with both establishments was faultless, professional no pressure to sign, factual dealing. Cricks dropped the ball with a staff member illness at a critical juncture, and stock was a bit longer wait. Westpoint could confirm stock being 3 weeks max for one spare Musso. They (Westpoint) were seamless in internal communications and staff liaising with each other. Show details
Terrible after sales service – Bought a brand new Ssangyong Korando from Rockingham Ssangyong in 2012, with a 5 year warranty. Extremely unhappy with their after sales service. If there was a no star rating on here. That's what I'd rate them. Caveat Emptor (buyer beware), once they take your money, it’s goodbye Charlie.
Hillbilly Flim Flam – A little history on the reviewer; I have bought 17 Nissan Patrols since 1980 (14 diesels); 12 for myself and 5 for friends and family; we currently have 4 in the garage, 2010, 2007, 2006 and 2000). I have a reasonable exposure to the product; I purchased a 2006 3.0 diesel patrol from this establishment. I am in Victoria and did the deal over… Read more
the phone and email; the description of the vehicle was appealing; and I went through the usual questions (I have bought 5 cars from interstate over the years). Communications is poor, sales staff are stroppy; it was indicated that I was lying when I reported problems with the vehicle.
Finally principal refused to accept phone calls from me; and now all communications stopped.
Issues;
a) No fuel when pick up at docks. That was, and as it’s a diesel I was worried about running the tank dry, as this damages the injector pump; the closest servo was a long way away.
b) $260 Brake controller in the car vanished; and I was told likely TOLL shipping removed it?
c) Rear tire when had being run flat and type was damaged beyond repair, continually loosing air
d) Cruise control not working
e) Access key not working, refused to replace.
f) Temp gauge running at high mark; on way home from docks; checked radiator, which took 8 liters; when I got home another 63K’s another 4 liters added to radiator
g) Part I was told had being mailed – was not; and sent 3 weeks later, after I rang them 8 times;
h) Significant oil leak from rear of engine.
i) Damage on rear quarter not told about; quoted at $800-1100 to fix
j) Finally - Engine inspected by diesel specialist; large amount of “stop leak had being added to radiator”- and it has warped head; cost to repair $7000 plus
Ok, so would I buy another vehicle from here, new or used I’ll leave it up to you; this behavior is something expected back in the 70’s – I would have thought.
Be aware, and be careful!!
Took $1000 holding deposit with no contract, no paperwork and wont re pay it – I paid a $1000 holding deposit on a car and decided about an hr later that it wasn't the right car. I had no paperwork, no contract and no recorded phone contract and the sales man Ian and the finance guy Paul didn't advise me that the deposit was not refundable. I was only advised 10 days later after I had asked for return of the deposit 4 times that it apparently wasn't refundable. Steer clear
Great value and quality for your money – I purchased the vehicle in December 2013 in Cairns as it was a much better deal than i could get locally and we were going there on holidays and we drove it back to Melbourne giving us time to run it in on the trip home. Had a Nissan Navarva before this and was a very good vehicle but replacement cost was nearly double that of the Ssangyong. But… Read more · 2
drives very well tows well and is comfortable being 6'4". Have had two of the old Ssangyong 4wd utes and were ok but this model is far superior. Price comfortable tows well. Limited dealerships, rear ute a little on the small side but quite useable.
